With the verse about the today show on denver, i feel like he was more so talking about how when you have a position of fame like he does and you're going to things such as the today show, you're more like a character (the curly headed middle class white rapper guy) that's designed to be entertainment rather than a person with a soul. I think this is something a lot of celebraties coming from all walks of life have dealt with and I'm happy he acknowledges both this and the fact that he's blessed to be in the position he's in.
Other than that i agree with most the other points you make on songs like it can't be and common ground; though i feel on gang gang gang, at least what he's talking about is more of a cultural "bro" issue and how everybody brothers until they aren't and not as much of a race issue, especially considering he talks about him and his old friends doing traditionally white activities.
Great video though, you're my go to person for albums i feel conflicted on. Keep up the good work 🙏

Thanks so much for shouting out Shawn Cee!! He’s absolutely brilliant, needs more credit and has such on point dry humor. I don’t care for Jack Harlow myself, but I always appreciate your takes and breakdowns.

This morning I listened to the album, and then fantano's review, and wondered what does Skye think??? You hadnt posted yet and i was disappointed, so delighted to find it later today. I really enjoyed listening so thanks, but have to disagree with you on a few points.
Firstly, where im from people really *do* sort of relate a bit to hip hops sense of oppression, (I'm irish) because historically, the Irish were attacked by the British and a genocide was imposed upon us, our land was stolen, we were ravaged due to colonialism etc. Although the savagery doesnt exist anymore (unlike racism) we identify with the anger and hurt about the imperialism forced upon us - although we were white - we really did get treated like sh*t like other oppressed groups etc. We still feel generational trauma due to past misdeeds from others and in our own weird way, can relate to some of the real dark, confessional stuff you hear the likes of Kendrick talking about.
i understand that a white American that comes from privilege doesnt quite get that - and massive respect for totally acknowledging that and calling out Harlow where he whinges, and articulating your point so well. I have to think about that myself though as im new to Jack Harlow. Havent made up my mind about him.
Oh one thing - you're wrong about other's rapper's grandma's not having property, Danny Brown's granny had five houses - she worked for Chrysler, and she bought four to five houses. Not the norm in hip hop's fam but he has spoken about it.
You said that Harlow's song Blame on me, being as impactful as Father Time. i have only heard the former once, and it didnt pack a punch. But i believe you, the lyrics meanings are already up on geniuslyrics and fans are loving it hard +identifying. Will give it another whirl.
Thanks for reading my points, loved your review!! And you've got me thinking a lot about his song No Enhancers. I actually love HUMBLE but Harlow has taken it further - and you totally made me think that the very thing its criticising, is what it is perpetuating!
We really appreciate you taking the time to detail your ideas in context and thanks so much for your points about the importance of reading - so true. Never stop posting!!!

There are some underground white rappers out there is creatively in rhymes, beats, sampling, etc. But again I recommend Aesop Rock and El-P even with Mac Miller, RIP Mac. The Underrated artist out there right now is Kill Bill The Rapper, Rav, Exociety, etc. This is great artist for today even their creativity on their arts music right now.

I had similar mixed feelings after finishing my listen through. When I heard Common Ground as the opener I was genuinely surprised and shocked. I was hoping it was going to be conductor for the rest of this album, but it was just a passenger on these bumpy ass tracks. I enjoyed Denver, and while sonically, I didn't enjoy Blame On Me, I did think it was very vulnerable and relatable in terms of lyrical content. When I heard It Can't Be and Enhancers, I easily had my least 2 favorite tracks. I had that same bewildered feeling of "Didn't you just open with Common Ground?" Such a confusing tracklist. Not sure how these were cobbled together. Did Common Ground come later into the album mode creative process? It's just hard to wrap my mind around. Surely even he would have seen this before they shipped the album. Unless he doesn't have control of how his projects are shipped at this stage. So many unknown variables that really just make me scratch my head with this one.

A little pointer: I know it is your personality, but when you make a hot take, just make it. Please stop saying, “I know what you’re gonna say” and qualifying the take so much. Just make the take and states ur reasons please.
It’s cringy and places more emphasis on ppl not being upset rather than ur actual argument.

I don’t see the point of this doesn’t it seem more intelligent and present to be aware of both the biases that shape his hot takes and how the reception to such a take would be, thus including it in his initial description, it just shows he’s aware of the impact of the statement
