@@andrewscott8892 I have the full Everybit set, mostly for the really unusual bits it includes. What he's showing here is a sub-set that is also sold separately, but they also discontinued this set quite some time ago, so what' we're seeing here is new old stock.
Me, too. So far, I've only got their 1/4-inch, but they've been the best I've ever used. The finished machining looks to be perfect and precisely done, and the steel quality is very high. I haven't had any strip or even start to slip yet. I can't stand single-use quality bits. I replaced the bits that came with my Icon bit and ratchet kit with them. The only ones I still can't find are the security bits, other than the ones that come in a kit with a driver. I just don't need another driver right now.
It seems the smaller the torx, the greater the variances. Kershaw Leek had me comparing t7 Wera, Mac rbrt, wiha and china craftsman. Wera was best. Wiha and Mac were tied and craftsman was closer to that tekton looseness. Good video.
I trust Wera on those small Torx sizes - I've had similar mixed results from other brands, even Snap-On's made-in-Spain 'precision' screwdrivers, which have a T7 driver that fits supposedly T6 screws.
This kit was discontinued a long time ago, even the kit that replaced this has since been discontinued (idk why, that one was nice and I use it all the time) Newer Tekton stuff is miles ahead of their old white label import stuff from years ago, I think its important to make note of this if you are going to review old tools next to currently avaliable ones.
@@lastbesttoolWhen I toured Tekton they were actively testing this set against Wiha. It is absolutely not discontinued, and they felt they had made great improvements to their electronics driver kit 😂
@@lastbesttool Apparently they're using Amazon to sell off their new old stock for discontinued products. If you search the "outlet" section of their website, it indicates this product was discontinued in 2020
I have that tekton set. I don’t like it for the reason the driver is to short. It makes my hand hurt trying to use it. Now I won’t feel bad for buying a different set. Yes my bits are loose also. Just never realized it until now that there is better things out there
Thank you, sir. I have had a couple of different sets of these in my "save for later" list on Amazon, waiting until I found a review for my purchasing decision. I'm the most picky when it comes to the bit and driver quality with these kits. I'm now deciding between the Vessel and Wiha precision bit kits. It's probably going to be the Vessel because I'm very partial to the JIS drive, and it comes with what looks to be an aluminum handle. Plus, every other Vessel product I have purchased has been excellent quality. It would be extremely helpful to see someone review their 31-piece kit. I have one of those Pittsburgh kits, and the bits are very soft in mine. The first use of the T5 stripped the splines. The handle it came with is just ok, but mine came with a 4-inch extension, which I do like. HF did tell me that if any of them ever stripped that I could bring back the single bits, and they would just give me new ones out of one of the kits on the shelf, which is awesome. But, having to do that often will be a pain in the posterior, and make a more expensive kit well worth the money.
Bought that kit 6 years ago. Junk. First introduction to Tekton tools and the last... Wiha bits are excellent and very popular in the pocket knife community.
I use the Tekton Everybit Tech Rescue Kit. I think the part number is 28301. its a 46 piece kit in a black zipper case. I think it is a pretty good kit. I wonder how it compares to the Tekton set you have in the video. I added a bunch of junk to mine too. Just curious. Great video again. Hope you get your money back.
Could you please make a video where the goal is to find the best precision screwdriver set? Comparing Wera, Wiha, Klein, PB Swiss and other brands? Both fixed and multi bit sets. I have an iFixit set, but I want a set for my tool bag. Looking at the PB Swiss 515 or the fixed Wera drivers..
I use a Wiha precision bit driver (older model than the one in this vid, but functionally the same) and fixed Weras for a lot of tinkering. My experience is that while the Wiha fitment is really good, Wera still has the best grip on their driver tips, and the handles are really nice. I have both the standard Wera handles and the spinny precision ones, and i prefer the former.
Hello again, Doc Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I enjoyed watching today's video. Doc, I would like to see or hear how it goes with the Tekton warranty process. I've always heard it's supposed to be easy process. But I have never heard from anyone who has gone through the process? I guess my question is it really an easy process? Again thank you 👌
I have other tekton hand tools. Many guys at work at my aviation MRO are buying their made in USA 30/60 wrenches. Clearly and bad outsource here. For another example we use tons 1/4" bits in phillips and more-torque/4 wing/ "German fascist dictator party" headed screws. For the "4 wing" we stock standard and a few #8s in wiha gold diamond tips. I grab up those wiha's every time they're available. We snap the tips of the others quite frequently, probably 10:1 vs the wiha
I just wouldn't buy Tekton tools in general. I find their typical consumer want bargain basement retail prices with lifetime warranty. The chrome is usually how the tool is judged. The compromise is you end up a million miles away from a professional grade tool.
There might be a reason why Tekton no longer sells the everybit sets.
I'm pretty sure the every bit set was way nicer then this one, this seems like a super cheap set with tekton printed on the case

Let us not overlook just how smooth that intro was. I imagine we're seeing the 5th or 6th take though ;)
This looks exactly like a set I got for 5 dollars at a Ross Dress for Less a few years ago 😂
also - wiha bits (i found) are the most precise bits i've ever had

If this is an old TEKTON tool, then someone should tell TEKTON to stop selling it as new in their TEKTON Storefront.
Tekton is not a premier quality brand if we are being honest. They will often do the job but they are lacking attention to detail in many products.

I have this. I felt like this at first, but I find myself grabbing it more often than not.
Wera and Wiha are awesome. But I do have Tekton socket set (like 100 or so) and it's served me well so far.
If you look at the print on the box... it was printed in 2015. It could be that the set is from 2015...
I bought 2 Tekton drift pins and the thickest one became bent the first day. No bueno
Hello doc.I have faced this problem especially Tirx sizes. The tolerance used by various manufactures is bewildering.
I've had that Pittsburgh set for ~12 years. Always been all I need..☝️
There's no reason to buy 6 micro driver sets.. sheesh
You get what you pay for.
I have 2 sets of Pittsburgh they get the job done and at $10 it's hard to beat. Thanks Doc

The Klein all-in-1 is my "go-to" (and the Harbor Freight's QUINN Electronics Repair Kit)

They don't make these tools for people to use. These are gifts for secret Santa, or an ill-favored in-law.

hyper tough from walmart offers two different precision and electronic screwdriver sets both include hex and all bits are s2 steel
the older tekton stuff hasn’t been sold for like 3 years….
That's disappointing. I really like my Tekton sockets.

I don't think its insinuating "Apple" products. I think its just saying cell phones in general. Also, laptops and gaming controllers.
