I visited Green Gables in July 2022. It was enjoyable to revisit the house, Haunted Woods, and Book Store with the Postal Station, the foot print of the old homestead, etc. I was surprised to learn that Green Gables was not the house LMM and her grandmother lived in. It belonged to her cousins and served as the model for Green Gables in the book. Thank you for the video.
I fell in love with this movie series the first time I seen it ❤️ I was 16 I am now 42 I've shared it with so many people over the years it was a blessing in my life I had a rough life in and out of foster care Anne bought me hope and made he see the type of person I wanted to be and I've been fighting towards it every since then well not actually fighting lol but understand what I mean I'm sure Lucy Maud Montgomery and Kevin Sullivan and Haggard for the wonderful books 📚 Movies 🎥 and music 🎶 Thank you all God bless

you won my heart and that of many people, my great grandmother read this book to my grandmother she told me how he was beautiful and that she loved it, and in 2017 she released anne with an and started watching and fell in love with this series and the best of world is beautiful and helped me when i was having bad thoughts. i am very grateful for lucy we are all congratulations lucy you made the greatest book that conquered not only canada all over the whole world until japan and my heart forever!
Thank you so much for this! I have been looking for this music and am so glad to have found it. I read all the books but my true love affair was from the 1980's TV show by Kevin Sullivan.
My husband and I visited these sites a few years ago and were absolutely charmed. The entire island celebrates the stories and the author. I recommend going in the summer, not only for the warmer weather (we froze in October) but because so many Anne-related events and sites such as Avonlea are closed after the "tourist season." (I think it's because they are staffed by college students.) My favorite anecdote from this trip was when a fellow lady tourist asked the docent in the gift shop next to the "Green Gables" house & barn, "Was that really Anne's bedroom?" and the lady responded, with a completely straight face, "Ma'm, you do realize that Anne is fictional, right?" I had to leave to avoid letting the questioner hear me giggle. But it does speak volumes about how real she seems to so many fans. I also wish I'd bought a bouquet of flowers for LMM's grave. Even in October, there were fresh flowers laid by fans. How sweet is that?! RIP Jonathan Crombie. You were the BEST Gilbert ever.

I hope you have made it to your bucket list. My mom was born about 60 miles from Cavendish. She left the farm and went to work in Charlottetown, then she went out with a nice young guy from Boston who was visiting his grandfather and the rest is history. Oh, the only why she would marry his was that she had to back to PEI every year, so I have a lot of good memories of this beautiful place. I try to make it back every year and it never gets old and I have taken my children and now my grandchildren to the Island.
the story of Anne Shirley of Green Gables inspires me a lot :) how i wish i can go there and to see where she came from. :) i really love her story it give us hope and to faith to our dreams.

Luego de ver las dos series sobre esta maravillosa novela, me encontré con este hermoso collage de los lugares donde se hicieron la serie, el pueblo de Avonlea y la granja, ademas la Isla es hermosa por photos pero estar en esos bellos parajes sencillamente debe ser una sensación indescriptible. Me encanto la música de fondo. No hubiera sabido quien era L.M Montgomery si no hubiera sido por la serie de "Anne de Green Gables".

Hi Shantaya! Yes, you are correct that Anne's room in the movie was different. The movie (neither of them actually) was not filmed on Prince Edward Island. The house used in the Sullivan adaptation is near Toronto.

I first saw the acclaim Canadian TV miniseries in 1991. From then it was my life dream to visit PEI. 14 years later in 2005 I was blessed to see the place. It was pastoral, picturesque and historical. Even today I am sharing this book and movie to my colleague who is teaching English. There is a new Netflick series called Anne with an E. However, I find Kevin Sullivan characterization of Anne, Marilla, Mathew, Gilbert and others truly brought the book alive. The cinematography of the series captivated the aura and setting of the place as described by Montgomery. It was absolutely charming. The music by Hagood Hardy always magically transported me to the place. The casting by Sullivan was spot on. The acting by Megan Follows (Anne), Collen Dewhurst (Marilla), Richard Farnsworth (Mathew) and Jonathan Crombie (Gilbert) and Schuyler Grant (Diana) was a joy to see. I was spellbound by the TV series and also by the book and still am.
I agree that the original one was better. I tried watching Anne with an E and couldn't continue.
I have never been to a more beautiful place than PEI.

There have been some changes in "Avonlea" - the LMM Heritage Museum is now closed but there will be an Inn there run by LMM's descendants and Avonlea Village has mostly shops now (there is even a shop in the school building unfortunately). It is still very lovely though! Have a wonderful trip. We are going back as well!

I want to thank you for this video. It’s probably the 100th time I watched it and always brings such a flood of emotions with it. I’ve been watching Anne and reading all L.M. Anne of Green Gables films with Ella Ballentine as Anne are truly wonderful and stay very close to the stories as written. There are three films to date and will hopefully be more.
Beautiful. Thank you. LMM inspired me to write too when I was a young girl and I write novels now days. I must visit Prince Edward's Island in some day although travell fees from northern Europe there might cost very dear. But when some people go to see Mecca I go to see where LMM lived. ;). One thing bothers me though. Didn't LMM commit suicicde? I wonder what made her do that in rather high age?
+maruna junttila Hi! Sorry for the late response. I think you would love PEI, so hopefully one you will visit :) There are different opinions regarding LMM's death. I am choosing to believe it was not a suicide. Having said that she did have a lot of reasons - a lot of problems with her older son, health issues and being humiliated by some critics (one in particular). We will never know for sure what happened that day.

Zawsze warto przebywac na Wyspie, chocby za posrednictwem tego filmiku :). Wyspa jest przepiekna, choc akurat poza miejscami zwiazanymi z Ania i Maud nie pokazalam jej zbyt wiele. Mam jednak nadzieje, ze ten filmik zacheci osoby, ktore marza o jej odwiedzeniu, aby zdobyly sie na ten krok.

Thank you so much what a beautiful video the details that you capture made me feel like I was there 😃, I've been a huge a fan of Anne of green gables and I been wanting to visit Prince Edwards Island for that reason I hope one day I get to go. I do have a few questions, is the house where Anne lived the same one they used when they film the movie.? I noticed some set up look different and some look the same I could be wrong but are they just model homes or are they the original movie set up where the movie was film? Overall thank you for sharing this it was wonderful 😊

The Sullivan movies were filmed mainly in Ontario, not on PEI. I visited Ontario twice last year and was able to see most of the Ontario filming locations. You can see some photos on my Polish blog:

Why did LMM waste away in Toronto taking anti depressants after Ewan retired? He refused to retire on PEI or she refused?
I am not sure why... Maybe she wanted to be close to her sons. She did not own any property on PEI but of course she also had to buy a house in Swansea (Toronto). Good question!
