  • The true value of an aircraft is verified by pilots, passengers and locations where it has to fly. In this case all factors are demanding and the verdict is one and undeniable. This is Alaska. This is Kenai Aviation. This is the Final Frontier for short-haul air transport.

    You have made such a beautiful Airplane, would love to work as pilot in one of them! Hopefully getting there, hour by hour :)

    Having lived in Fairbanks, AK and had a GF who worked for the FAA. At Fairbanks Airport there is a lake so planes can land and then taxi up to the tarmac to load up again. Even Sam's Clubs flies their stuff up to you. The are more small planes registered in AK then any other state.

    Thanks and a question: So those Lycoming engines are FADEC-controlled?

    • @TecnamOfficial

      Hi! Lycoming engines have a semi-FADEC system as they are electronically controlled.

    As long as maintenance stays ahead of the niggles will work well.

    Genuine question: isn’t a single turboprop more reliable than a piston twin overall?

    • @YARCHLRL
      @YARCHLRL 3 месяца назад +1

      No. TP are remarkably reliable and safe but, even though they aren't landing in the "bush" they are still bush flying and just like being over water, twins are better than singles.

      The piston engines are better at short hop type flying. TP's have some issues with hot starts.

    Yeah I'm not so sure id take this over a caravan....

      Comparable cost, speed and range, and the Caravan has approximately 50% more cargo capacity. Of course, there are other factors to consider. I imagine the Tecnam's operating costs are significantly lower. Both great aircraft!

      If there’s not a lot of landing spots, I’d take this over a caravan. Plenty of PT-6 failures every year.

      @@Jsouthcfi and considering that overhaul for a pt6 is 350k +, each, the running cost is so so much cheaper with Lycoming piston engines.

      The engines make the difference ..maintainence cheaper and no need special machine to check turbines.

      As a passenger choosing either one or two engines and props, i choose the latter. 4 even better.. have yet try Trislander the DC10 of piston engine.
