      Maybe they'll just throw all the nukes at each other then, until they run out of nukes. That would only be horrible for all the civilians there, but at least the rest of the world wouldn't be destroyed.

      @@solar0windNo, nope, that’s not how nukes work. Russia has over 7000 nukes and probably 1000 active nukes.
      The radiation from 1000 nukes will affect the whole world. Cancer will get many times more normal, animals and plants will die. Not to mention nukes exploding will create billions of carbon dust particles which will rise to the upper atmosphere and BLOCK the sun. That’s called nuclear winter.
      Understand why no one wants to deal with nukes? They’re more than weapons, they’re doomsday machines.

    It's very unlikely for Russian "Federation" to collapse, russians had a terrible experience with the fall of USSR, and will keep the country in one piece, even if it would mean to become a confederation.

      A "confederation" is made up of *sovereign* states. I.e. the Russian Federation will first have to split up and the then-independent pieces will have to _want_ to find back together. Which is even more unlikely than the RF collapsing in the first place.

    That’s an interesting point about Russia being an empire, not a country. The constitutional arrangement and differing statuses of the different regions are extremely difficult to get a handle on as an outsider. You don’t really think about it because it’s a contiguous land mass, but it’s obviously true historically. Another modern day country that is really just what is left over of an old empire is Britain (albeit obvs much smaller), and it’s in its own way in a lot of trouble and has a very uncertain future.

    "There is no room for empires in the 21st century"
    China, the US, huge companies like Amazon? Empires are eternal
    Also saying this as a Polish person, Russia will win the conflict, the firepower superiority they have is insane and it truly is a miracle in its own right that Ukraine still holds on. But russia has more resources than Ukraine, and as the Zaporozia offensive shows, Russia has learned from mistakes, and the resources are too plentiful to loose to Ukraine without NATO directly involving themselves into the conflict.

    • @kingoftheapez
      @kingoftheapez Год назад

      Even with NATO involvement, Ukraine won't be able to win, even if the entire NATO with what they have left would go to war, Russia would still win. I mean NATO has problems to supply Ukraine with ammunition, even the US president admitted that when he anounnced the delivery of cluster bombs, they are having nothing else left.
      But lets assume Russia is on the edge of loosing this conflict, what might happen? Russia sees Ukraine in NATO and NATO military bases and certain types of weapons in Ukraine as existential threat, what do you think Russia will do? If Russia looses this war, the entire world will loose.
      And btw i agree with all what you said before.

Most potential states that comes out of the collapse are likely to establish local dictatorships because tbe Russians have only known iron fists as a way to rule for centuries.
