  • In this video, I'll tell you about some of the basic measures that could be used to give you a single number that captures some of the features of biological diversity. In particular, I talk about Shannon Entropy and the effective number transformation that can be used to make measures such as Shannon entropy more closely match intuitive notions when species are uniformly distributed.

      It is an interesting measure that provides a useful conceptual model to understand species beyond mere counting!

      I could. Not sure if I will. These sorts of videos barely get any hits or attention and it's a fair amount of work to make them as well, so there's not much reward in it of any kind.
