- For the longest time, I've always loved tomboys. And I've fell in love with them even more so as of recently. But a question that's been on my mind as of late is " Why do I love tomboys so much?" And why do others love them so much? so I decided to make that question into a video. so join me Traveler, as we discuss The Appeal of Tomboys.

Same here, this video seriously gave me confidence, so thank you @TomoeMizuno! For me, it's girls like Marin Kitagawa, Chisato, Akebi-chan, and most recently Kano Yamanouchi that I aspire to be like. I want to be free and unrestrained both mentally and physically (Although I might not go to the gym as often as I probably should).

I see a few saying ryuko but man the first tomboy I remember is Daisy she is my favorite princess in the whole mario universe and the one that said "here is your type"
As the kind of woman who's never really cared what others think of me, has a long history in martial arts to the point where all my guy friends fear getting into a fight with me, and tend to use charcoal pencils to do my makeup just because it's easier, quicker, but still gets the job done... gotta say it's kinda lonely being "not like other girls." I mean, obviously I would never pretend to be somebody I'm not, but that's also a huge downside to being a tomboy. You have to get used to and being okay with having little to no female friends. And there'll always be that barrier between you getting too close to your guy friends too. So...who then do you have by your side? Who can you really rely on to stick "closer than a brother?" The answer is sadly, and very often so... no one.
Reading this makes me wonder, maybe it's that solitary lifestyle I'm drawn to with Tomboys.
A desire to be understood in a way that only someone else who has lived according to their own rules could understand.

@@Shiranui400 yeah of course man. I also wish there were more people and stories that highlighted this side to being a tomboy. As fun as it can be to romanticize being different and alone, it sadly doesn't change the fact that you're still going through most of your life in a world where nobody really understands you. I kinda wish there were more tomboy characters that really delved into what it's actually _like_ being a tomboy. Not just the romanticization of being or being with a tomboy.
It's the very reason I like to write a lot of tomboy mcs. Not necessarily because I'm being lazy or anything, but because people as a whole tend to look at the stereotype like a "cool jacket" rather than the quality leather, stitch-work, metalwork, time and effort it took to make that jacket. Stupid metaphor, but I hope you get the jist.

Especially in our era where everyone wants to believe that they are different or special , without understanding that being truly different or special has a lot of downsides to it.

You have great reasons why anime tomboys are dope while also preaching about mental freedom and being yourself. I never knew that a video about some tough baddies could be so inspiring. There’s this ridiculously cute girl at my job who I just found out took 2nd place in a Brazilian jujitsu competition. Be it 2D or 3D toned girls like that are dreamy as hell 🥰
My first memories of a tomboy was when I invited other girls to play toy cars in the mud with me and realizing other girls just aren't as free spirited as me.... Oh and also I'd stomp bee hives with the bois in third grade. It was about then that I realized the other girls were kinda wimpy.

They are pretty cool. My first memory of tomboys may have been someone like Makoto from SF. She was tough that's exciting to watch. As the years go on, I've developed greater appreciations for other tomboys or tomboy like characters like Sonya Blade (She'll put it on ya), Jacqui Briggs, Blue Mary, King (AOF), Bullet from Blazblue, Hajime Shinoda, among others. I hope we get chicks like them with a more fit build.

I think there is also something to be considered with their push back against societal norms. A tomboy pushes back against the norms set and expected from women. Obviously over the years this has slowly been deconstructed but those misogynistic roots still exist in many opinions and people. Their choice to go against it is what can be so appealing for people because its unique, is comforting in a way and shows them as being confident in themself to express that side of themselves without care for opinions on them
Also, shoutout to Revy Two-Hands from Black Lagoon, her character is what got me into the tomboy archetype.

I’m personally more into the homie type of tomboy then anything, the type that treat you like a friend more then anything. As an introverted guy wishing to extroverted, I always felt most interested in extroverted people with quirky fun personalities that know how to give you a exiting time, and aren’t afraid of taking jabs at you to either steer you in the right way when you’re wrong, or if it’s under innocent cheeky fighting. The kind of chaotic personality and confidence that can encourage me to come out of my own shell. I like hot chicks like any other guy, but it’s a healthy symbiotic relationship where we both bring out the best in each other that I want most in a woman.

Everything you’ve stated was valid, I find someone with free spirit attractive because I worry too much and someone like that would lessen those worries. Misty from the Pokémon anime was probably my first Anime tomboy crush, along with Sailor Mars, but I had tomboy friends as a kid too and remember loving to hang out, climb trees, and just do dumb shit like that with.
The biggest draw of the anime tomboy for me is the general positive vibe and independence and drive. This is the kind of person who, if they are with you, it's because they like you and want to be with you and not because they are expecting you to provide something other than yourself.

I think it boils down to tomboys being more easily engaged with than a girl with more traditionally feminine interests.
I'd say the same for 'gamer girls/geeks' they typically share the same hobbies as teen boys/men and in anime are incredibly attractive.
A cool fun girl that loves you and hangs out with you and will stand up for you if someone messes with you does sound nice, even though I’d be someone that would prefer not to make a scene, but any woman that would fight for you is a keeper.

I feel like tomboys fit into two categories classical and "modern" (no telling what the future will hold)
Classical tomboys originate from societal/interpersonal conflict and actively try and act more muscular, blunt, and anti feminine.
"Modern" tomboys typically don't have that originating conflict and simply grow up without that predisposition of societal norms, and because of that they are more individualized with varying levels of masculinity, intelligence, and acceptance of feminine traits without rigid standards for any of those.
