    Keith, thank you very much. Your knowledge, extensive experience in networking and best of all, you're enthusiastic manner is appreciated by so many of us. Thank you!
    I do have a question, if are not able to answer it for whatever reason, no pressure/worries:
    I am now working in an environment where Fortigates are being setup at various sites, yet at many of these sites they have Cisco and/or Netgear network switches connected to them and now they are adding on new Fortiswitches off of the other vendor switches (for example--off the Fortigate to a Netgear smart switch, from the Netgear switch to a Fortiswitch). I am having issues with getting Fortlink to talk with the Fortiswitch. Any ideas what I need to do? I sure wish someone would do a tutorial on this.
    Anyways, if you or anyone out there has some ideas, would love to hear back.
    Otherwise---thanks a bunch for all your hard work you put into these Video tutorials!

      Thank you for the question Da Apprentice. The FortiLink is using a specific VLAN for the management. If you have other switches in the path, and they had been configured with that same VLAN, and also allowed that VLANs on their trunks, I believe the downstream FortiSwitches could be seen by the FortiGate.

      @@KeithBarker I will look more into that. Thank you very much!
      I'm sure this isn't the case but, if you ever run out of ideas for new content, it would be really cool to see a video on how to implement Fortigates into a mixed environment (non-Fortiswitches) and with Fortiswitches. (For example, a Fortigate to a non-Fortiswitch to a Fortiswitch.)
      Regardless if you do it or not, thanks so much for all your hard work and effort. It's greatly appreciated by many of us out here on the internet.

      @@daapprentice8659 I'm in the same situation and the way it came off is that the fortiswitches require a connection directly to the fortigate to get authorized. I can then assume that it would be viewable from that point only not directly. Did you ever finish this thought and figure out the link between the two?

    • @daapprentice8659
      @daapprentice8659 Год назад

      @@trevoreltsosie3825 Actually, this was never resolved. I hope Keith is able to eventually do a video on this as I know he would cover it in a way answers these questions that I am many others are also having the same issue with. Has anyone found any good write-ups or videos demonstrating how to work in a mixed switch environment? If so, please share. Would really appreciate that!

      @@daapprentice8659 I would try it but I dont have fortiswitches besides a fortigate, mutliple mixed switches , and a small 8 port PoE fortiswitch. Even with the small fortiswitch I have, I'm not even sure if it is manageable being a small switch.

    This is a good workaround to monitor 3rd party brands directly linked to the Fortiswitches as all fortinet product is for fortinet only. does anybody know if a fortiswitch can be seen by the fortigate if not linked directly and if so can that switch still monitor 3rd party switches linked beyond that?

    Hi Keith, thanks for the amazing videos. Not only the content but also the quality of the videos are great material. I am trying to connect my lab (897VA+SG350) to the internet. Your video about this topic was very helpful. And it worked … on packet tracer. Now, when I am configuring my router IP address on my lan I got the following message: « ip address may not be configured on l2 links »… to set up a trunk on a stick I understood I need the lan ip configured on my router. I’m I missing something ? Thank you for any recommendations you may share

      For new quizzes, on many of the same topics, they are going to be live events only, and I am not keeping the recordings online. If you can join us live for the quizzes, great. If not, we will miss you, but the older recordings are available in the playlist.
      Happy studies.
