I have a question, related to the geometry of the system: how can a (round) disk rotate within a cylinder without causing gaps or collisions between the outer ring and the round plate? If a cylinder and a plane intersect in any angle different from 90°, the result is an ellipse.. So how can the inner plate be round and the outer ring be round but they don't have air gaps between them?! Would be interesting to learn.

Great question. In short, the system is designed to include a gap between the round disk and the rotating bowl. Both components are machined with precise contours to ensure a consistent gap is maintained as the disk rotates.

The outer ring's inner face appears to be spherical, so the disc's incline does not cause a (geometrical) gap.
