Čiūto-tūto is our folkloric motive that was used in Lithuanian folk songs and dances, as magical incantations, which, by repeating constantly, helps began to hear the voice of our heart more and more. So it all comes together then you now that in terms of english parts and lithuanian parts of song.
I'd like to add an example and some additional insights. My interpretation is that Linkytė refers to this vibe of Lithuanian folk songs (including polyphonic sutartinės) with the last a cappella bit :) I'm adding a traditional Lithuanian sutartinė (polyphonic song) with "čiūto" motive: ruclips.net/video/Wbyn61KgaqA/видео.html Monika Linkytė is also referring to our folklore with her modern style amber earrings.
I didn’t really listen to the Lithuanian songs until yesterday and honestly, at least regarding just the finalists (haven’t heard the ones that stayed in the semis), but its one my favorite selection after Finland right now. I’m a bit sad some of the other songs didn’t win but i love this one and Id be sad about Monika not winning if anyone else had won, lol. Like, i do feel the selection overall isn’t as impactful as finlands, but it’s one of selections where I’ve had the majority of the songs playing on a loop and literally been unable to choose my favorite along also norway and belgium. I started watching Eurovision in 2015 so back then Lithuania was a weak country with occasionally cute songs (2015, 2018). Estonia was my fav and Latvia was having the starts of its (short) powerhouse era. Kinda shocked now that I’m realizing Lithuania has become my favorite Baltic country in recent years, they’ve been killing it since 2020 and have several songs from their finals still in my playlists (make me human would have been as worthy as on fire). Im a tiny bit worried this could get lost in the crowd in the semi, specially without the jury, but i really hope she pulls through like Monika Liu last year. This is in my top five at the moment. Don’t think this is an ESC winner, but i really hope we’ll be having Eurovision at Vilnius in the near future. They are earning it.
I'm slowly going through all the songs so far. My favs so far Albania, Norway, Lithuania and Estonia. The rest will have to grow on me ( just based on first listen) x
Monika was my 3rd, I prefered Beatrich and Petunija, but I really like Stay too and Monika's performance was amazing. 100% deserved winner. It's not something we have never seen before, but it doesn't mean it's bad at all. Really beautiful song and I'm happy to see her returning and it's definitely better than 2015 entry. Second semi seems really weak so far, so I think Lithuania has a lot of chances to qualify, they are mostly doing really good in televote and also they have UK voting in their semi. Good luck to them from Poland! 🇵🇱❤🇱🇹
The refrain “čiūto tūto”, comes from Lithuanian folk music, from the sutartinės [multipart songs] which in 2010 were included into the UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
I like it, and I can see it at least around Top 10-15, because it has notes which are jury pleasers, but also very catchy melodies, which are crowd pleasing 😊✨
While it was my 5th before the final, the live perfromance and revamp really sold the song for me. I do fear that this is exactly the type of song to be a sure qualifier in a split jury/televote semi, but I'm unsure how it'll perform in an all televote semi. Luckily it has Estonia there to help it out. The revamp definitely helped it, and (I think) it might be my 3rd, after Norway and Czechia, surpassing Slovenia.
My favourite was "Need More Fun", because I feel I need more fun. However, Monika has good vocals and incredible harmonies with backing singers. Lewis asked what happened to her black Lego hair, but he thought she was Monika Liu from last year! 🤷♀️ Good luck to Lithuania 🇱🇹
This song is pretty good. I live the vocal arrangement, the instrumental is good, the progression is a bit jarring which makes the song a little uneven but still pretty solid, her lead vocals are strong, the staging is great, the lyrics are good even tho they are generic, I love the mix of Lithuanian and English within the lyrics, I love the intro, the first minute of the song actually gave me chills, I love the orchestration and overall this was a solid choice. This was far from my fave of PIN but it is still a deserved winner. I loved her 2015 entry but this one is still really good. But I mean it may not Q because of the fact it was chosen by the jury in the selection and not the televote which is a huge problem with the only televoting semis. It is an 8/10 for me.
Well, Monika Linkytė finished second in the televote with 10 points (12,675 votes), so maybe "Stay" will do well enough in the public votes of the countries voting in the ESC 2023 Second Semi-Final.
Originally I thought like this 1. Beatrich 2. Ruta Mur 3. Gabrielius Vagelis and 4. Stay. Didn't expect Monika to win, but when you think about it, about the year and everything that has happened, I think Monika's song is really good for this year, although my opinion of the best singers was like I shown, Monika's song is really nice but I just lack something, and in moments I don't like her English pronunciation, but again, I think it can go quite well for her in Eurovision, who knows, maybe even win? I have no idea, although I hoped for Ruta or Beatrich to win. But again it's a sad year with hundreds of thousands of deaths in Europe because of war, first covid now this. And war is just horrible and scary.
Solid song, good vocals and a great comeback to Eurovision! The only thing is that it's a little bit weak for me, but the atmosphere and the backin vocals make this song very enjoyable. I also love the mixture of english/lithuanian lyrics. Qualifier? Maybe... Score: *7.5/10*
Sorry for the off topic, Luke, but I just noticed you have ANDROIDS, CELL, GREAT SAIYAMAN AND *stands up * FUTURE TRUNKS behind you, and I just want to hug you. 😭♥️ I love them and you igkskvkskhwiivk 😭😭😭♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Lithuania will struggle with this song in the SF because there were no juries. When I compared “Stay” to “Like a Movie” or “So Low” I still can’t fathom what happened yesterday. Hope Ruta come back, honestly. She is the type of artist you only see once in a while, a train one must step into, but Lithuanians jury thought otherwise and opted for a song that while isn’t bad it isn’t groundbreaking or outstanding. Monika is a nice singer but not quite at Ruta’s level. Ruta had charisma, voice and a perfect matching song. She didn’t need to try as hard as Monika did.
There are definitely African vibes but at the same time the chant is completely from Lithuanian ethnic folk songs. Same could be said about the last decorations on the stage - they are a sort of fusion of African and Baltic motifs. I wonder if the back singers are African.
THERES IS NOTHING TO THINK. Facts are speaking for themselves. People of Lithuania have been robbed. I assume you have already saw Ruta Murr and saw whose trully better and stands out. Not this Monikas boring ass song. Btw she was already sent to Eurovision and brought only shame.

My favourite entry so far this year! ☺️
There was a strong final of PIN and I had 5 favourites to win. Monika delivered 100% so she is so worthy winner. Love her❤️
This is 👌awesome
Monika was my vinner, i did vote for her several times
My number 1&2 are oscillating between Lithuania and Norway.

This song really feels like a lullaby due to how calm the lyrics are. Theres also no denying that Ciuto-tuto is overall the best part of this song!

Another Eurovision Song Titled Stay:
Stay - Norway 2012
Stay - Moldova 2019
Stay - Lithuania 2023
Amazing interpretation ❤️❤️❤️👍🫶🇱🇹

Totally unexpected but totally deserved (other than that televote different with Ruta Mur of course!)
You are such a positive person. Fun to watch.
Awhhh thank you 🙏🏼
Monika was my winner and Top 4 for me! She represented Lithuania with Vaidas in 2015 in Vienna!
I like it, and I can see it at least around Top 10-15, because it has notes which are jury pleasers, but also very catchy melodies, which are crowd pleasing 😊✨
Complete shock winner ! But I think she’ll do well 🎉
While it was my 5th before the final, the live perfromance and revamp really sold the song for me.

Not only Estonia but UK, Ukraine and Denmark as well 😊
@@TwoRedPassports are they countries that will vote for Lithuania?
Love this song! Best of luck in the Grand Final! ♥️♥️

Not the best song for me either😊But her voice is good😍
Lietuvoje tik monikos gyvena?
Rūta Mur was robbed 😥😥
definetely not
Weeknd was robbed

It ok song but not for me
I get africa vibes when I hear this. Is Lithuania in Afrika?😂😂
Shut up

Lithuanian flag is made out of traditional colors of Africa (yellow, green, red). Lithuania's sillhouette looks like African continent.
Does it make difference for you?
Absolute disaster.
