Have you played this? What are your thoughts on this title?
Considered buying this game, but the artwork doesn't really attract me
in full player count, you can mitigate the frustration by trying to plan in that way that you know that someone will do it in the same order or choose the cards that no one will play.
Have owned this one for a while. Typically played at 3-4 players. This is fun every time. It usually has several good laughs each game.
Playing 4 players today. I think this is sadly a largely forgotten game and underrated. Love it with all counts and variants are cool.
I just purchased this game! Thank you for doing this spectacular play through! I am soo excited to play!💙
I like this game. You two are really lovely to watch, and your setup is quite neat. Alexander Pfister is one of my favourite designers too!
i hope this game get a remake! i love the gameplay but hope the art style can get some upgrades
We've played this 4 players and really enjoy it, but have never tried with just 2. We always thought it would lose some of its magic at 2 players. What are your thoughts?
It really depends on what you find enjoyable about it. If it's the fun, chaotic aspect that is most magical, then yes you definitely lose some of it at 2. It still plays fairly well, though.
@@BeforeYouPlay that's fair, I just love the push your luck, risk assessment in whether to be "brave" or not. I just thought it might lose that with less players. I can totally see it still being great though😁
Great video guys. Awesome and clear explanation of the game, making it that much more understandable and fun to play it. Cannot wait to try it out with my firends!
Great video, as always, thank you! Question: in a 2 player game, why would the second player choose to play a role cowardly at all?
To avoid going first on the following turn
I don't think I've laughed out loud as much during any of your other videos as I did with this one. Your reactions to everything and the tension was so entertaining. This game definitely films well! Haven't played it, but fortunately my friends have a copy so I'll get a chance to play it probably this year.
Hi guys! Have you played the card version? What are your thoughts on the difference of the tow versions?
Hi Alexa, we unfortunately haven’t tried the card version 😔.
This game is so much fun, specially when you block your friends from doing what they had planned 😅🙈. I tried it a couple times at 2 players with my wife and we liked it but I agree that the game runs best at 3 players.
This is such a great series... thank you! And GWT is my favorite, so I'm very much looking forward to that. :)
It's his next release to we will be gearing up to put that video out!
@@BeforeYouPlay from memory, Monique famously doesnt really like GWT - so it will be interesting to see that playthrough
Never played it, but it looks like the brave and strong element wouldn’t be as fun at 2 player because there isn’t anyone after the second player to make them think about what they want to do. Is it not an automatic brave for the second player in 2 player?
It's definitely not as tough a decision, but there are definitely still some instances in which the 2nd player may choose to play "cowardly," especially if they don't want to lead the next role. There is also at least one event that we know of that awarded points for choosing cowardly.
@@BeforeYouPlay Gotcha. I really love the anxiety in games that require making the right decision based on other player’s decisions; that mind game (I suck at by btw), but this seems like a good game for that feeling.
@@amoore05 Yes that's absolutely right. Lots of mind-play in here!
the action selection mechanism here sounds extremely similar to Glass Road, which I love a lot. Will have to give this a shot!
Such a good game! I like it best at 3-4p. Contingency planning made laugh out loud fun!
Love the designer series. I landed on this one first because I had just picked this up in a trade and had not yet tried it. Going to have to go back and catch up.
You all do the best teach and playthroughs!! Thanks and keep it up!
Great game...one of our family favs
That's awesome!
The savage comeback 🤣😹🤣😹
Great theme for the season. Awesome video as usual!
Thanks so much! We felt it would be a nice one for this month =)
@@BeforeYouPlay Also, anytime to play Pfister is good.
You can play this with 2? Great game at 4 or 5!!
Edit, after watching the whole video. I agree with all you said, and I like to use this game for goofy fun.
Yeah! It actually surprised us at 2 Players, we like it best at 3. First time ever played was 4 or 5 (can't remember) but it was so chaotic!
@@BeforeYouPlay Never occurred to me to try it with two. But now I will!
my favorite gateway+ family game :)
Yeah that's true, it can be a gateway!
Now after more years into the hobby I have to say this is still among my top games, even though most of my favourites are much heavier. Great game which I would love to see a more complex reimplementation one day :)
I have not played it. I felt that Orleans should have won that year so I might have a little bitterness towards Broom. I may have to try it now. Looks fun.
haha totally understandable
Don’t understand what happened at the ~41 minute mark of why Monique got to go brave...
Monique would not have been able to go brave if Naveen went brave, but because he went cowardly, she was still able to perform her action. One person per role may go brave.
@@BeforeYouPlay really... I don't own the game, but that seems strange. I would think the idea of "bravery" is when you got at a location by yourself (regardless if they are brave or cowardly). Wanted to also say, "THANK YOU!" for highlighting Pfister!
Really like this game, although tough to get to the table since people I game with don’t care for it. Also, you start the game at 10 points
What no way??? Must have totally missed that!
hi guys! As always, Great review! By chance, have you seen my comment on your Back To The Future: Dice Through Time review.?? if you have a chance please read the comment. (it is just a simple question about how the game works) Thanks, God Bless!
Hi Cindy, I'll have to check and try and get back to you ASAP! Thanks for continuing to watch our videos :)
50:50 review and I just played it as 5 player game. This game shines at 4 and 5 when the participants are gamers and not idiots.
The probability of getting away with brave is much more than player order or card counting.
It’s kennerspiel for a reason, and sadly with family non gamers it would fall flat. Same as with Hansa Teutonica.
When you play with idiots you avoid those games and stick with Puerto Rico and such idiot-resistant games.
This game is a lot of fun. It could use an art update and/or a new map; otherwise a solid game.
"accidentally"
:]
Hey dumb question 😂 how much would you say this game second hand is worth? I know some listings seem outrageous
Nice Monique wins!!! Hahaha I like when the wife’s wins... is great !!! Haven’t played this one but my friend Angel from Mexico has recommended it several times!
Then you will definitely like this channel - it happens many times
Haha Monique is too good, I struggle to beat her in pretty much everything. :(
Having played Witches Brew and loved it. I don't feel the re-vamping of it did a very good job of carrying over the good parts of the game. It is now twice as clunky for table presence and card play is much more confusing for new players. it would be fine if both versions were available but Witches Brew is impossible to get for those who prefer the more efficient, streamlined card game.
There is a broom service card game available for very cheap. It sounds a lot closer to witches brew. It's very fun as well.
