Most vending machines in Japan sell drinks, but you will occasionally see ice cream vending machines as well.
Vending machines are everywhere in Japan, so it's convenient to be able to buy things without having to stop at a convenience store or supermarket.
If you go to a parking area on the highway, you will often see vending machines that sell things other than drinks.

And although I didn't mention it this time, you can buy alcoholic drinks from vending machines in Japan.😊
However, as you have feared, in order to prevent minors and alcoholics from purchasing unlimited amounts, alcohol cannot be purchased between midnight and 6am.Cigarette vending machines also have time limits and require the presentation of identification (an IC card called taspo issued by Japan Tobacco)😌

8:36 Anpanman was born from a picture book illustrated by Takashi Yanase in 1973. Anpan is a round bread filled with sweet boiled soybeans and baked. It has been a favorite snack of Japanese children for a long time, and Anpanman's head is made of this anpan, so when he meets a hungry child, he flies over like Superman and tears off his anpan head and shares it with them.😌
Naturally, this halves his powers, making it extremely difficult for him to fight his rival, "Baikin-man(Germs-man)," and he finds himself in trouble many times. However, his determination to put the needs of those in need in front of him first, without regard for his own safety, has nurtured a sense of justice in Japanese children for half a century.
Anpanman was made into an animated series in 1988 and has been aired to this day, with new movies being made every year to coincide with school holidays. The characters are based on food or animals, just like Anpanman, and as of 2009 there were 1,768 of them, including Shokupan-man(English bread-man), Tendon-man(Tenpura bowl-man), Omusubiman(Rice ball-man), and Jam Ojisan(Uncle Jam). In the same year, it was recognized by the Guinness World Records as "The most characters in an animation series" ✨😆 and the number is still growing 🤭
Recently, there have been several videos uploaded to Japanese RUclips in which foreigners who have come to live in Japan talk about how they were impressed when their kindergarten children learned the meaning of the lyrics of the theme song to the Anpanman anime, "Anpanman March," and said, "The meaning is too profound for a theme song for an anime that children watch," so I hope you will find out about it too. The lyrics were written by the original author, Takashi Yanase.😀
    [Anpanman March]
    Yes, I'm happy
    The joy of living
Even if the wound in my heart hurts
For what purpose were I born? What do I live for?
I don't want to be unable to answer that!
    By living in the present
    My heart burns with passion
    So you go
    With a smile
    Yes, I'm happy
    The joy of living
Even if the wound in my heart hurts
    Ah Anpanman
    You kind person
    Go! To protect everyone's dreams
    What makes you happy?
What do you do to make you happy?
I don't want to end it without knowing that!
    Don't forget your dreams
    Don't shed your tears
    So you fly
    No matter where you go
    Yes, don't be afraid
    For everyone's sake
Love and courage are your only friends
    Ah Anpanman
    You are kind
    Go! To protect everyone's dreams
    Time passes quickly
    The shining stars disappear
    So you go
    Smile
    Yes, I'm happy
    The joy of living
No matter what kind of enemy you are
    Ah Anpanman
    You are kind
    Go! To protect everyone's dreams

Although it wasn't shown in this video, the drink vending machines developed by JR, a railway company that covers all of Japan, and installed in stations for about 10 years now have built-in cameras capable of facial recognition, which identify the gender, age, and build of the customer who approaches to buy something, and suggest and display a drink that suits that person on a monitor that covers the entire front of the vending machine😆
It also measures the outside temperature and displays hot drinks when it's cold and cold drinks when it's hot. It's also excellent in that it displays tea or mineral water for the elderly and energy drinks for the young. It is also connected to the product center online, so it seems to be able to respond quickly to out-of-stock items, machine breakdowns, and theft.😊

1:48 "I don't know what this drinkable ice is."
When I was a child, Seven-Eleven sold "Slurpees," and that was my first experience with drinkable ice.😊At that time, the image of Seven-Eleven was that it came from America.🇺🇸😆
    …It was about 45 years ago.😱

15:05 "The vending machines that Japanese people have are also games."
If you look, you'll probably find one, but in Japanese izakayas and manga cafes, the standing urinals for men have a built-in game where you aim at targets to earn points.🤭
I say "If you look, you'll find it" because I've already seen videos of foreigners who came to Japan and saw it and uploaded it to RUclips 😆

When a vending machine is broken, it is even reported on the TV news. The good public safety is probably the reason why there are so many vending machines in Japan. You can find vending machines even in the countryside if you walk a little.Kickback, the opening theme song for the anime Chainsaw Man. In the second verse, there is a song about a carbonated drink that loses when you get the number 4443. If you're Japanese, you'll know right away that it's a lottery on a vending machine where if you get the same number, you win and can buy another bottle of juice for free.

Very reasonable. Tokyo is the city of high density of buildings and high land prices.
To open the new shop in Tokyo is very difficult. Vending machines do not need shop, space, shop clerk, so very benefitable for a beverage seller. Furthermore, big beverage companies handle with the goods supply. There live many people in Tokyo and in front of the public, crime like destruction and theft of a vending machine is less likely to occur. That’s why vending machines become popular in Japanese big cities .

A typical juice vending machine would cost about the same as a car to buy new, and there are occasional thieves and vandals who try to kick them and break them.

    日本の自動販売機のすごい所の一つは、一つの自動販売機から冷たい飲み物と熱い飲み物の両方を買うことができます。
    ところで、私はプリングルスが好きですが、アメリカの自動販売機でそれを買えるのでしょうか?

Typically, you can only find lays potato chips or candy bars in vending machines. However, in my area vending machines are very rare so if you want pringles it's easier to find them in a convenience store www
