I read the whole series in 2023. I agree with you, more people need to read dandelion dynasty. It's so incredible. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I definitely will reread this series in the future.
You should check out the justice of kings by Richard Swann. It’s really good. It’s about this justice for the Empire It’s about this justice for the Empire Hill Kaz. Who has the power of “the voice” which compounds people to tell him their deepest secrets. He also has a power of necromancy. He has two other people in his entourage in the story is told from his clerics perspective. remind me a Joe Abercrombie, but I think it’s better actually.
Ooh, survival stories. I remember this documentary about the plane crash in the Andes in the 70s being on TV every couple of months on our docu channel, and I'd watch it every time. So incredible.
If I can recommend a series, I’d look into Skullduggery Pleasent. Female protagonist YA series, but it gets much darker and more mature as she grows up. I lowkey think the world would be a better place if it were more famous. Also the first Audiobook seems to be up on RUclips 😋
Love seeing the Dandelion Dynasty love ❤ Speaking bones had me both shaking with rage and crying tears of sadness and joy. Really went through the whole range of emotions with that one. Great series!
Great vlog1 I’m happy to see see you loved speaking bones! Dandelion is so freaking good! It’s my 3rd favorite completed series after faithful and the Fallen and First Law! I want to reread them next year! The next big series you should tackle in the wandering inn. I think you would really enjoy it!
I am at 95% on the third book and it has been just suffering. I am really glad that I have pushed through hearing what you have to say here. I LOVED book 1 and 2 so much and it really sounds like 4 moves back into what I loved so much!
I just want to say that I'm listening to this while driving, and the music you used for the interlude synced perfectly with my turn signal. That is all.
Since you like books that take place at sea. thought you might want to check out this one. The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder by David Grann
Since you like Coming Back Alive, I would recommend Wavewalker by Suzanne Heywood. It's her story of spending 10 years at sea with her family and her struggle to break away to go to college.
I so wish GRRM had split the last 2 books the way Liu did. Just cut it in the middle instead of book 4 being only certain characters and book 5 being 2/3 the other perspectives until the end when all the timeline merges. Book 4 was such a slog for me. Since I mostly binge series, I was able to read The Veiled Throne and Speaking Bones back to back, and the split didn't matter.
The first book was a bit rough for me in terms of writing style. Maybe a 3.5/5. Haven't gotten motivated to read the next three, but I've heard his style improves.
You talking about speaking bones reminded me of Wheel of time. Are they comparable? And after reading more of these huge epic series like this one and malazan do you still think wheel of time is worth it?
I just finished the Stormlight Archives and am now having trouble disconnecting from that world to get into another book. I am trying to read Mistborn now but keep drifting off thinking about the Roshar crew. Do you have any advice for separating from a world that you were so connected to so that you can jump into another?
Is it weird I almost don't wanna read it because how high merphy was on it I have such high expectations and when that I happens I always feel let down after
@merphynapierreviews you should if you love nautical stories. It's my favorite non-fiction about weather and nautical rescue . I like you love the little nitch side of rescue stories, but i love the meteorlogical elements this book brings to the table.it's about the once in a century storm that happened in 1991 off the coast of the northern Atlantic, where three storm systems collided, creating the perfect storm. There is even a film adaptation. Which is okay. I hope you give it a go! Sorry about my rant.

Being in a cold & rainy England, book reviews from a swing chair on a US porch is the wholesome content i need. Great stuff as always!
"You are in a maze of twisty little passages; all alike. If you are not careful, you will be eaten by a grue."
Check out the nerdcore classic “It Is Pitch Dark” by MC Frontalot if you haven’t.
Yessss so glad you loved Speaking Bones! Dandelion dynasty is incredible and I can't wait to reread after that amazing ending.

I love the fact Merphy clarifies listening to vs. reading. Both are good experiences but they are very different.

I'm so glad you loved Dandelion Dynasty as much as I did! Fully agree that Speaking Bones has one of the best conclusions to any story I've ever read.
Merphy if you are hintingly suggesting to do a spoiler review of the Speaking Bones...GO FOR IT!!!

The Dandelion Dynasty is my new favorite series I've ever read! It's exceptional in every way and I cried profusely at the ending.

Awwww yeah!!! Cave interlude ❤
Awesome as always thanks ❤
Oh survival and rescue non fiction is my favourite kind! I've noted this one down for later - once I'm allowing myself to buy books again 😅
Last interludes of the year!!!😭 and there are...EPIC!!!
Coming back alive sounds a lot like The Perfect Storm…also very good but a lot of info about sword fishing
I can just tell from how everyone talks about it that Dandelion Dynasty will become my next obsession. I just need to finally commit and start it. 😅

I'm 50 pages into Veiled Throne (Dandelion Dynasty 3) and its shaping up to become a favourite series of all-time, alongside Malazan for me.
Coming back alive sounds really interesting
Love the interludes
Even though there is an artificial path and lighting I wonder if there are snake and spider incidents in those caves.
I love Jia Matiza, people hate her. I love her! Lols

Okay, you convinced me. After I finish Broken Earth trilogy, Dandelion Dynasty is the next big series I’m starting.
I hope you love it!!!
Okay but the cookies look yummy!!

Cute hat! Hm, did you read the Earthsea cycle by Ursula Le Guin?
💕💕💕
Karchner Caverns?

17:49 I do care.
🧡📚🧡📚🧡📚🧡
What do you mean by "the process "?
Hey Merph, have you ever read The Perfect Storm?
I haven’t!

You got to go to a cave? I haven't done that since I was a kid. I should take my kids.
You read a page a day on average
