Fforde has been my favorite author for years but I have learned that he is definitely not for everyone. That being said, I am so so glad you enjoyed it!!! He deserves so much more credit than he gets. I have read this series 3 or 4 times and every reread I find more layers to his humor and more jokes that I have never caught before. I definitely recommend continuing this series but Shades of Grey and his nursery crime series are also fantastic.
The Eyre Affair is on my TBR wishlist and I have The Teller of Small Fortunes which I hope to read this month. I love your Vlogs and this one definitely did not disappoint. TY
I'm so happy that you enjoyed The Eyre Affair so much! I'm super excited to hear your thoughts on the rest of the series [book 3 is my favourite]. You might like some of Jasper Fforde's other books, too: the Nursery Crimes series or Shades of Grey [thankfully no relation to 50] and the sequel, Red Side Story [which just came out this year, 15 years after the previous book, ye gods].
Wonderful to see you discover Jasper Fforde. He was very popular here in the UK when I was at secondary school (14ish). The Thursday Next series remains strong so I would continue with that if you were seeking more of the same. I didn't enjoy the Nursey Crime Division series AS much, although it does have some very high points. I also adored Shades of Grey (no 50!!). I had to wait 15 years for a sequel, but it came out this year so no worries on that account. This is a dystopian romance, but with all Fforde’s offbeat humour and really appealed to me at 20. Perhaps less so in my thirties but I still really enjoyed it, and would recommend.
I loved The Teller of Small Fortunes too! (Though I am someone who loves cozy fantasies, in general lol). Keep reading the Eyre Affair series! I think the next couple of books in it are my favs
The Toni Shiloh book reminds me of one I read called _The Entrepreneur's Nurse_ by Rose Fresquez. I'd consider it another cozy romance, with the strength being the picture you get into life in Uganda.
I would really recommend reading more of the first Thursday Next series (i.e. books 1-4)! In my opinion the second book is even better than the first. The following books also dive way deeper into the world of fiction and explore so many fascinating concepts, like what it would do to the psyche of a literary character if they are aware that they are a literary character whose life is predetermined by the author. They're also really funny. The only other Jasper Fford novel I've read is the Constant Rabbit, which i also really liked. But that book is more of a distopian allegory of contemporary British politics and as such a lot less fun and a lot more depressing, if still very good.
I agree to prioritize Thursday Next 1-4 first. After that you can go anywhere. The two Nursery Crime books are mother goose noir spin offs from Thursday Next. Loved Shades of Grey and Red Side Story. Constant Rabbit and Early Riser were still in his same classic style and fun reads. Thursday Next 3-7 are also awesome, but there’s a natural break in the story. I’ve only read the first of the Last Dragonslayer series. I’m pacing myself because then I’ll be all caught up with Jasper Fforde. He’s my favorite. Hoping the eighth Thursday Next comes out next year! When I saw this thumbnail. It was an automatic click. You made my morning!
I cannot get that title straight in my head. I’ve almost started calling it Small Teller so many times 😅! I enjoyed your buddy reading the book with you and loved this vlog! ❤
I seldom watch videos about books now but I clicked when I saw The Eyre Affair. It was recommended to me two years ago. I look forward to hearing your thoughts about it. Happy reading 📖
I too just read eyre affair and loved it- I have the second on my shelf for this month TBR- did you know there is an actual festival for this world in authors hometown?? I want to go!
Oh, the scavenger hunt! You're a fun mom. The Fortunes of Small Teller...Oh, I mean The Teller Of Small Fortunes shall join my Pile Of Possibilities. This has been out for awhile so I must have browsed past it.
I just got the Teller Of Small Fortunes from the library. It was just a cover pick at first because, OMG the cover is beautiful, but now I think I will probably like it - You make it feel like Christmas was such an adorable read for me, I did feel the relationship with the sister dynamic was MESSY, and that was my favourite part because I do enjoy a messy read 🤣
I'm not gonna lie, I thought that scavenger hunt was meant for us😦. Real shame about teller of small fortunes, agreed it was a bit too cheesy for my taste
I hope you have a great time with Jasper Fforde and the Thursday Next series! They're so much fun! Also, eagerly awaiting your reading and review of Toll the Hounds. I know you were down on Reaper's Gale, but I still think Toll the Hounds will be your favourite in the series.

I’d love The Eyre Affair just because its such a quirky unique story, but really… who wouldn’t want a pet dodo?
I'm sure The Eyre Affair was marketed as science fiction when it first came out in the UK.
Glad you enjoyed Eyre Affair!! I love Fforde's writing so much.
I definitely recommend trying his other works at some point (except for the Last Dragonslayer - that one doesn't work for me).
The Eyre Affair is on my TBR wishlist and I have The Teller of Small Fortunes which I hope to read this month. I love your Vlogs and this one definitely did not disappoint. TY
The Thursday Next series stays sooo good!

You are the definition of a well read person because you genuinely read in so many genres and you try everything ❤️
I'm interested in The Eyre Affair, it sounds quite good.
I’ve just started watching your channel. I love your energy and enthusiasm.
If cozy sci fi interests you you should try out the Wayfarer series!
Wow. The Eyre Affair seems very unique. I'll need to look it up
