I’m glad you actually recognized that Goku had somewhat “became” Sun Wukong! I think some people forget that Dragon Ball (the original series) is somewhat of a parody of “Journey To The West”. Sun Wukong’s name in Japanese translates to “Son Gōku”, so Goku is VERY much a reference to Sun Wukong by name alone lol
i absolutely love it and it ALSO fits with the saiyan lore and how they’re tied to apes in general. such a masterful fan-made property. not to mention there seems to be tiers of mastering this version of super saiyan.

the animation speaks for itself, but the twists on the source material is what makes it for me. Planet vegeta being present while goku and vegeta are adults, broly being some sort of saiyan outlaw or maybe he’s considered legend because he embodies the pure battle-lusted nature of a saiyan. and of course there seems to be tiers to super saiyan in terms of mastery and not just that but it seems more accessible here, so much to be excited for this needs to somehow become a series

I think Broly being called "Legend" is a play on his actual title in DB Canon "The Legendary Super Saiyan." I do love that because, apparently, King Vegeta wasn't an idiot in this timeline and prevented Frieza from blowing up Planet Vegeta that Prince Vegeta grew up to become King and because of that, instead of being afraid of "The Legend," he, instead, prepared to kick his ass. Surprisingly, I love fearless Vegeta who is not an asshole, but actually a good guy and, apparently, good King. Funny how that works out when he is raised by his actual father...
Also, I love the Sun Wukong Inspired Primal Super Saiyan Goku (that's what I'm calling it, fight me :P)

They spent millions of dollars to make DBS and what did we get? Yeah I know, we did got some moments like Ultra Instinct, but I talking about overall production. On the other hand, Stray Dogs Studio used budget out of their freaking pockets, but that 11 minutes of animation is gold!

I love how Broly’s SS transformation is legendary so it doesn’t take effort to keep activated, Vegeta has to concentrate to keep his activated and it feels like a life energy that can be manipulated, and how Goku changes his personality and fighting style and his transformation looks mystical

plus, I *might* be tripping, but while both Broly's and Vegeta's form feels like pure light, Goku's is like fire. There used to be a belief that fire was an impure form of light, combined with dirt or *earth*
quite greatly ties with the motif of Goku's 'primal light' being out of control (possibly from him having his tail ripped off), the fire also looks amazing in the Sun Wukong form

Loved the boldness and swag of Vegeta. He's always had swag but this was the swag of a king. Yeah Kakarot might be stronger but don't care. I want to help him help me. Team work. When they did the kamehameha together, i got the Gohan vs Cell when Goku was behind Gohan. Beautiful bro.

Two favorite lines from this: “Today a god falls; bones to dust, ashes to the wind!” and “we are the keepers of the primal light” and honestly I wish that dragonball as a franchise was written like this but I wish that Goku had an evil personality alter(kakarot) because I feel like that would deepen his connection to wukong and possibly the six eared macaque(cuz they’re opposites)
Me personally, I've never been a fan of Goku having a Kakarot(evil Goku) personality. Mainly because it's been done 3 times. But also because it's not needed. From what was told in the manga, Goku hiting his head only destroyed the programming placed on him before he was sent to Earth rather than that being his true self. The reason I say it's a program is because when Raditz came to Earth, he was surprised that Goku *didn't remember him.* But no way someone would remember anything they experienced as a baby.
His Six Eared Macaque can be Turles.
This is exactly how I imagine DB at it's peak, incredible animation and character design, voice acting, storytelling, manage of power... like vegeta himself turn is transformation into a lightsaber to fight Broly a diferent way. ow man! I love it!

I actually watched this yesterday and I freaking loved it, the animation was clean throughout and I especially loved how Vegeta fought Broly.
But above all else, Goku going Wukong mode was just too epic and I really can't wait to see more from these guys
We have to all support them to make sure this continues.
Its been *years* and while savior from the heavens is mostly a wu kong reference it took me till watching this animation to understand that techinically its a fitting title for goku (whose loosely based on wu kong i know.) Since hes saved earth countless times and came from the heavens/ aka outer space.

"Savior from the Heavens" also works because Goku has trained under various gods, Kami the god of Earth, King Kai the god of the galaxy, and even Beerus the God of Destruction and Whis his angel attendent. It also was the very concept of the Tournament of Power that saved all the participating universes from divine judgment and erasure.
So, Son Goku is Son Wukong (The Great Sage Equal to Heaven), who came to Earth from the heavens (Outer space), who travels to the heavens (Kami's Lookout, Otherworld and Beerus's world) to train with Kami, King Kai, and Whis (heavenly beings all) and save the multiverse from heavenly judgment (Zeno's decision to erase and start anew).
Sorry for the rambling, I just love when something can be symbolic for multiple reasons that are themselves not connected but equally valid.

In case yall didnt know the reason vegeta could use Kamehameha was because that wrist thing they did is a reference to WuKong stories where he could share knowledge by clashing wrist so i guess in this canon, its some saiyan technique and thats why vegeta initiates it.
