- In this video we do a few signs, one is a two piece 3 color sign with vinyl and one is a 1 piece 2 color, but at the end we decided to add color to it and make it a two piece 3 color all in powder, all we got of it was a picture at the end but its worth the view. A tip to get your tape backing off easily is to use one blade of your scissors to "pluck up" the edge so you can grab it

Nice vid, trying to learn powdercoating, im a custom auto painter by trade, I also make signs etc with vinyl. Looking to get a small plasma cutter like the langmuir XL maybe to start doing same type of signs you made here. What do you charge roughly for a sign like that? Thanks
Hi, I am homewelder&fabricator and I just found your channel! Being pretty new to all steel coating methods I'd be interested what different options are there and when they are possible.
Is powder coating the "best" or is there still something else that is superior? I just learned that can you powder coat galvanized steel, can you also powder coat stainless steel (assuming it's the martensitic type)?
For inside or outside steel gates (for example), what is the best coating options? If you answered powder to both is there any reason for doing something else, like primer+paint?

We use primer when asked to or we know it needs corrosion protection...outdoor ect. If indoor no need. Epoxy for aluminum, zinc for steel. Any substrate that can withstand cure Temps can be powder coated. Great coating option, easy to apply, no voc, green, durable
Hi friend! Can you tell me how you prepare sheets before you powder coating? Sandblaster and then straight to power coating? or Sandlaster then cleaning with some chemicals, and then powder coating? Greethings from Poland ;)

Wow, such a huge oven for so few smaller parts. Don't you have a medium sized oven? Might bring down your energy bills.
That oven runs me about 11 dollars a day....so Im good. I have noticed that small coaters tend to get caught up with energy costs and powder costs. We let it run 8 to 12 hours a day, its cheap, and if we were to shut it off, turn it on, shut it off, bills would be higher as it would be always trying to reheat the entire structure. Spraying to waste is a normal practice and you should be charging for the powder that stays on the part and does not, part of the business. Thanks for watching!
@@RightNowPowderCoating Thanks for the quick response, I have been learning a lot from your channel. I bought a 3x3x6 ID oven and still setting everything up. Not for a business, at least no intention there yet. I'm going to try a sort of two color olive drab camouflage effect for my 5-ton army truck I am rebuilding, so your videos on two or three coat processes will hopefully help me succeed on my first try. I'm still a bit confused on when to fully cure and when to just melt out. Bought the zinc primer already and from everything I have been seeing I should probably only melt out each application until the final coat.
@@danadurnfordkevinblanchdebunk Yes only do partial cures till your done applying powder, the final coat will bue full cure, if you full cure the other colors they will not cross linc with the top coat and your powder can peel in sections.
