    “Audiophiles don’t use their equipment to listen to music. Audiophiles use your music to listen to their equipment”. ~Alan Parsons

      Yeah, totally agree with Alan Parsons. But bad release and bad equpment can destroy your music. Enough 1500-2000 dollars to get good true-analog-vinyl sound which can sound better than cd/digital, not that shit which companies made today.

      Why hide music, and not hearing more of it ?

    I recently purchased the 45 RPM and you are right, it is fantastic sounding vinyl!

    great review--totally agree! That 45rpm pressing is amazing-near 180deg soundstage--WAY beyond the outside of the speakers - the drums are dead center and you can hear the placement of the different bells if you close your eyes. it is sooo hard to stream music after hearing and experiencing stuff like this. i am not a musician but these new pressings are more engaging than anything i've ever heard.

    In the end, the album sound fantastic no matter what. Alan Parsons engineered the album so good that it almost sounds like the stuff that nine inch nails does. Great band. Great music.

    Hi, I am not a vinyl person but I still find your reviews interesting and worth watching, often points me towards great sounding albums. I agree with your comments at the end about 45rpm .... That can't ever be a relaxing evenings listening (its one of the reasons I'm a CD person) and I wonder how many people either just 'collect' 45rpm albums and rarely play them, which would be a bit sad given that an album is meant to bring enjoyment to the owner. Anyway greetings from England.

    I’d be super interested to know how you feel the just released MoFi 33rpm one step stacks up to the MoFi 45rpm version you put on the top.
    I was a little surprised to see the Discog reviews ratings are trending lower than I would’ve expected on the new one step.

    My old 1979ish A.P. I Robot shows US print on cover, yet it has amazing soundstage and dynamics. Could the record be UK and cover be US? Wish Mike gave dead wax code.

    I wonder though, is it worth it to do a comparison of Parsons Eye in the Sky? Probably not with how few the choices are, so which do you think is best? A UK first, Foreign or later Speakers Corner reissue?

    Interesting, but I am in for the music and as you mentioned, mastered for the record players of the time. I think audiophiles are listening to much to there equipment, mostly have just a few records and listen for the best sound, music lovers are more in for discovering different music. I know you are both and I am too.

    Have this on Classic Records, its quite luscious and full
    Great album
    Not a big fan of Mobile Fidelity records, overpriced and just not that engaging. Usually my mo fi choices are 45 rpm, but they are a pain in the ass, because you just can't sit still for 20 min, up and down
    My go to vinyl is usually first pressing UK versions, but Classic has this one beat.
    I enjoy your reviews, very honest and informative

    Where do the Canadian pressings stand?
    Is is safe to assume that the Canadian pressings are the same quality (stamper) as a U.S. pressing?
    I noticed that you never mention Canadian pressings, when you do this series.
    Just curious about your thoughts/experience?

    Why did MSFL UHQR make such a huge price lp that was meant for listeners with low quality tables ,but then as you stated that the sound is not too special anyways for 50 bucks ? Average guy would hardly even think about a 50 USD lp then or hardly even now There were tons of great tables from the 70s and 80s that were hooked into great amps and speakers in the early 80s that average guy had at the average consumer level then .. The crap tables for the average guy is happening now like CROSLEY and the better ones are very expensive . The UHQR lps were made for the ones who had the BEST I would assume ...

  • @BeatlesOasisFan
    @BeatlesOasisFan 6 лет назад +1

    While I completely agree that the 80's reissues sound like crap I DON'T agree with the statment that modern issues sound better. More often than not modern reissues I encounter sound like sh** because they are made from digital files and Mike in his previous comparisons proved that point. Yes, there are sometimes modern issues which sound superior to the original but it's maybe like 10% of them. The best example is The Beatles in mono - amazingly sounding modern reissues VS the latest Led Zeppelin reissues which sound absolutely horrible and you can hear they were made from digital. I would also disagree that all 80's turntables were crap. Turntables such as Technics SL-7 were and still are fantastic for the price and definitely a 100 times better than modern plastic, made in China tables. If you don't have money for a modern audiophile turntable then I would go straight to some of the better 70's or 80's models as they were made from metal and in Japan. Period. I'm surprised that Mike says something like that in this video. Not all 80's hifi gear was crap and not all modern gear is amazing.

    • @TheInGroove
      @TheInGroove  6 лет назад +2

      As far as reissues sounding better then vintage pressings I was referring to ONLY audiophile releases. Modern audiophile records almost always sound better then there 80's counterparts. As far as vintage tables sounding crappy. If you were to go back in time to 1982 I would imagine a bulk of the turntables you would find in peoples homes were very average tables that probably dated from the late 60's to the late 70's . A modern $399 Project Carbon Debut DC would wipe the floor with 99.9% of those tables. In the 70's and 80's most people listened to vinyl because they had no choice and a majority of people listened to vinyl on crappy turntables. Mobil Fidelity made records targeting those customers. They did not EQ there records targeting the customer with a brand New Linn LP12.
