You know what stops customers buying multiple sizes and then returning? Opening physical stores.
Even at that, people will saying they can’t try fitting rooms and then buy 5 sizes and then bring 5 back…
And stocking all your products in them… not telling every other customer that walks through the door to go home and order that size Medium or shirt in blue online.
I work for a large department store and trust me that doesn’t stop returns. Lady bought 12 Mother of the Bride dresses and returned 11 of them yesterday because day of she wanted “options”. I really think it’s a sickness.
@ same. I work as a supervisor at a retail store and the amount of returns we get is so absurd
I wonder if people are buying a lot of stuff to get free shipping. Then returning the items they didn’t want in the first place.
Me 😂
Solid point! I know I’ve done that exact thing.
That’s why companies should always offer free shipping. Doesn’t cost them much
Always do😅
@@rockNstyle27so u should have no issues paying for it
Just don’t buy nothing. Save your money.
Our economy is done when people stop spending money on things that they don’t need and can’t afford 😂
Sure, it's easier said than done to just "go to the store" when the nearest Macy's is usually in a mall, if it hasn't closed down already. I just won't buy from them anymore.
If merchants offered a wider variety & better quality in store, people would not feel the need to shop online, b4 online shop'n we where in dressing rooms & standing in line to make purchases
Exactly!!! The selection of items and sizes in store are extremely limited!!! They keep telling me to order it online. I get them cracking down on people that engage in return fraud but NOT target customers that have no choice but to purchase their specific size online!!! Greedy! I am not buying shit!
Abercrombie and Fitch is 30 Days from shipping. I ordered something on 12/22 but didn’t receive it until 10 days later, on 1/3. When I tried to return it on 2/2, they gave me a really hard time but I ultimately I was able to get a refund. I won’t buy from them again. Transit time should not be included in the 30 days.
Or when you got your item on 1/3 you should have opened it then instead of waiting a month.
@@MargDBXor she couldnt make it to the store for a month for whatever reason. Stop being an ahole just to be an ahole
I wish we could just have our physical stores back. Our mall is dead. There's like 3 open stores in the entire building. There's no toy store anymore. You have to go to walmart or target and the selection isn't great. There's no appliance repair shops in my area anymore to buy parts from. All of our stores and shops owned by locals have been run out of business. To make matters worse, if you even get your package after shopping online, you have to make sure you grab it before a porch pirate does.
So we have to return to office and still find time to go into stores to shop for clothing for the office with what time?! Lmao
Honestly it’s kinda nice to hear this. I worked retail for years and we had a 6 month return policy, which was incredibly generous in my eyes. People would abuse the return policy all the time and it made us workers furious. Since the return window was so long sometimes an item would come in at full price, the customer would return it at full price, then the customer would re-buy the item immediately because it was out of season by then and had gone clearance. On one hand I completely understand why the customers did this since the prices were sometimes high, even with coupons, but on the other hand it felt slimy since the customer owned the item for months. The store I worked at was a big chain retailer and I know the CEO was making good money, but it still made us workers angry since we made just over minimum wage. We worked hard and we did blame the CEO for our lower pay, but when we saw customers abusing the system sometimes we blamed them too. I know at one point we had to ban a customer for how much they abused the return system. The customer would come in and buy a vacuum, return the used vacuum for a full refund a month later claiming it didn’t work, buy a new vacuum, return the used vacuum a month later, and it repeated again and again. I know not everyone will agree, but as a former retail worker it’s kinda nice to see a slightly stricter return policy
Abuse of return policies is something I am strongly against - but I also disdain how marketing from big-chains almost endorse how easy returns are.
To me it is a problem that simply increases hidden costs.
How else do you buy online if you don’t know your size? Size charts & measurements are nothing like having the real item to see the difference on how the M & L actually fit you - I disagree with companies having a problem (& tracking us) with customers ordering different sizes & returning the size that doesn’t fit ..yes it costs them $ but that is the cost of doing business 🤷🏻♀️
That is why I still like to buy in person because we get to try it on to see if it fits. Plus, we get to see how we look too.
Best advice is to visit the store you plan to buy from and try on the clothes. Once you have an idea of your size you can order online. I rarely order from stores that I haven't visited so I don't waste my time trying to return the items.
Don't buy clothes online. That solves that.
All those returns also come with a high environmental costs especially for companies like Amazon. I try to only order things online that I have bought before so I am less likely to have to return it like my favorite jeans or a new pair of shoes. And some times it’s harder for me to find short petite and smaller shoe sizes in person though and ordering online is the only options. Post covid I see less size selection in some stores.
Agree. Recently purchased an outfit, they only offer this item online. Got the usual Medium, and the top fit fine, but the pants were too big and extra long. Had to order a small size for the pants, returned the medium later in the store. The pants didn’t state a particular body type. Even the small were still long, but I just hemmed them up because, the event was the next day.
This is hard when u live in the middle of nowhere so have to shop online
Then check the size chart before you buy something.
@teoleno4019 spoken like a person whos never lost or gained weight. What is a sizing chart going to do for someone who doesnt know their current measurements, or for brands that run small/big? Stop being an ahole just to be an ahole
Those size charts are useless and every store sizes aren't the same. Even when they are the same size and brand they can be off insize. @teoleno4019
@@teoleno4019That’s not always the solution. It could be off.
Stores don't keep as much merchandise on hand so you have no choice but to purchase online. I purchase online and ship to the store so I can see and test the item at the store. I would still be returning it within minutes if I don't like it
some companies make their sizes different
You can buy the same size item in 3 different colors, and they all fit differently. It’s crazy!
This is one of the reasons why I love Lands End!....There's a 6.95 fee if you want a credit back to your credit card but if you get a merchandise credit they waive that fee and there's no expiration date for the merchandise credit!
What is Lands End? Is it a store?
@ It's a retail store :)
There really was nothing new in this report.
Let's go to standardized sizing. I hate playing the return game. I recently bought a pair of boots. The size chart said I would take a size 5 1/2. I have NEVER taken a 5 1/2 so I bought my normal 7.5 and lucked out. I can try on 3 pairs of the same jean by the same maker in the same size and have all 3 fit completely different. Consumers HATE this. Then they want to penalize returns.
Well, they’ve closed brick and mortar stores where I prefer to shop and try things on, so I’m forced to shop online and yeah, I don’t know what size is going to fit me. It would be very helpful if for every item, the product measurements as well as the body measurements were listed, and you could get reviews where people suggested sizes based on height and weight. Some of these components are available on some websites, but not others. Yes, I’m going to return things that don’t fit me. That being said, I’m an infrequent returner. I recently lost 65 pounds and I’ve had to completely switch sizes in my clothes, and honestly I’ve done a pretty good job guessing at the new sizing. I will not purchase if there’s a restocking fee, I prefer Amazon where I can walk the return into a Kohl’s store and drop it off. I don’t like to have to mail things back. Stop closing brick and mortar stores!
I only buy things online because im petite and the sections in the store are legit the size of 2'x2' Buying online and trying on provides me more variety and options
Yes! My kid is very tall for his age but he is so skinny. Buying pants for him in stores is impossible! Online shopping is basically the best way to buy him the Slim pants with adjustable waist bands.
@@AnaDiaz-wz4cf I'm a tall female, and just like your son, I can't find ANYTHING in stores that is long enough.
@luvsiberians8006 My best friend is 4'9" and she buys her jeans from Maurices but they never have them at the store. She has to order the extra short ones online.
Greedy corporations
More like dirty customers who send back used goods.
Nordstrom’s biggest win was they’ll take anything back no matter how much time has passed. Do they mean Nordstrom Rack?
yes lol - they are just lazy
Not anymore Nordstroms changed it a while ago to 90 days. It’s also has to be unworn or in good condition
According to their website it doesn’t list a time limit except for Balsam Hill products.
As a small retail business owner, whenever a customer ask about a return policy, I know they will return them. That is why I do not take returns.
I try to support small business, but unfortunately, that would be a deal breaker for me. What if I'm buying for someone else and they don't like it or it doesn't fit?
@@daniadiaz1658 I own mattress stores. This usually a non issue. I tell them to bring the person the mattress is for since all sales are final.
It's not that easy to go to the stores, like it used to, a lot of clothes that I like are on line, they usually don't carry it in the store/or don't have my size, it really sucks sometimes!
They should definitely charge for returns. People are sending back used stuff.
I’ve been to a few stores and they have sizes that aren’t kept normal stock. But it’s just for trying on and you have to order that size online.
People have abused free return policies by not measuring for the correct size, getting several of an item, keep one and send the rest back. Another problem is sellers misrepresenting items by size and quality of the item. Buying online must come with full transparency by sellers about every item being sold. Sellers and buyers that have a history of misrepresenting items or abusing return policies need to be banned from selling their items or their account removed.
When i do shop. I will try items i find online at store. Then i order online for in store pickup. Walk around mall for a hour or go do something else. Then pick up once i get email. I Usually do that at jc pennys since i can save on purchase.
Just shop at Costco
As a plus size girl most companies don’t carry larger sizes in store so what’s the solution…. And keep the “just lose weight” comments to yourself
The solution is the comment you want us to keep to ourselves. You know the solution and don’t want to listen.😑
@@prettykitty5416 and while you lose weight you still have to find clothes that fit in the mean time.
Huh as a smaller girl I have the opposite problem. I can find all the larger sizes in the store L, XL, XXL, XXXL, but not S or M.
Returns do hurt people that work on commission.
That's why I don't like buying clothes online. I have to try them on.
If u buy it...u have it....I don't understand how wasteful the return policy is in the US
It is wasteful because many take advantage of it unfortunately but it’s also a push for many of us to buy something that we may be unsure about and would not purchase otherwise.
A lot of stores only exist online n size charts are not accurate. Trying to find swimwear in a store is virtually impossible where i live. So i shop a bunch n try n return what i dont like. I shop a lot n return half. Thats it. Up to stores to change that policy but i wouldnt shop if i cant return.
They love finding loop holes to continue to screw the consumer. Smh
No. People are buying things, wearing them, and taking them back because return policies are so loose. Or buying things, using them, and taking them back.
You said "no" like you have some insight all the retailers dont 🙄 yall just wanna be negative just to be negative...
I do this with Amazon all the time with no shame. It's so easy to just drop it off at wholefoods no question asked. Especially seasonal holiday stuff like halloween valentine ,st.patricks day costume and novelty stuff. I've never been penalized cause I buy and keep so much anyway. So even if i return 25-40% of everything I buy, i'm a frequent customer! They know I 'll always be back.
You hear that don’t buy multiple sizes.. they’re crazy.. we are the customers
Ridiculous!!! Discourages consumers from engaging in sustainability.
WHen are Americans going to realize, we don't need any of this crap. Save your money. You don't need to buy clothes every weekend.
That’s fine. I won’t be buying much for a while. Especially online.
The produce be so old and stink they refuse to let you get your money back off online orders. I lost a lot of money buying produce that’s rotten
My credit cards come with 90 days return protection if retailer won’t accept it. I shop without fear 😊
Good ,
People order a lot ,make utube fashion videos and send back
Good!!! All these people scam returning or returning just because they decided they didn't want the item. Learn how to make up your mind in the store.
Sometimes stuff doesn’t look as good when you get home as it did in the store. I know my local Marshall’s has slimming mirrors and the lighting makes everything look better than in reality, I know I wouldn’t be shopping there if I couldn’t return stuff.
