    Bro you are the man for this! Folks sleep on maschine! Also to add to your dope content... The way I gain stage in maschine, I use the mvmeter, but I put it on the group and instead of turning the sound down via the mvmeter, I lower the input gain on the individual channel by going to:
    1. Sampling/edit Tab on maschine
    2. Hit the Zone tab
    3. Press the ▶️ right arrow until I see Tune/ mix on my maschine
    4. Turn the gain down to where level is at zero
    But dope content u just gained a subscriber brotha!

    Gainstaging post fader doesn’t make sense. Just turn the level at source. Use the source volume as a trim pot. You are just distorting your plug-in and signal chain.

    • @NoiseyNeighborz
      @NoiseyNeighborz  4 года назад +3

      You know what, You are absolutely right!! I should have turned down the VST Plugin volume and not the VU Meter. Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll have to make an updated video.

    • @N3groN3rdZ

      So only use the VST to monitor the db but use the group section or sounds source to turn it down?

    • @musicbythebrain
      @musicbythebrain 4 года назад

      WhatTheTr1z use the Vst to lower the level, use maschine mixer to monitor the level. -18db is equal to 0.

    • @jayleathalbeats
      @jayleathalbeats 4 года назад +1

      @@NoiseyNeighborz Bro you did it correctly. The point is to gain stage without using the fader. You do this before starting your mix. The whole point of gain staging is to retain resolution on your fader when you mix as well as give you head room. You can turn down you vst gain, but this would be the same thing you just did.

    • @musicbythebrain
      @musicbythebrain 3 года назад

      @@jayleathalbeats you’re an idiot. Research the difference in volume and gain. The point is not to distort your plugins so they can work properly. Again. Gain stage before the fader to -18db, make sure your faders are at unity gain , then you can use the pink noise methods to level the mix. See you just learn something. I’m tired of you little fruity loops producers. Please stay in your lane

    • @NoiseyNeighborz
      @NoiseyNeighborz  4 года назад

      Yes sir!!! So if you select an individual group hold shift on your keyboard then select (while holding shift) the last group, that highlights everything. From there you can turn everything down from one fader. Check out 17:15 in the video.

    i noticed your reference level in the VU meter is -18, doesn't that mean that 0 in the VU meter actually means -18? , meaning you initially set all loudness as -18.2?

    Hey quick question, the meter is dope ! But when I gain-stage it on one side the other side changes as well. How do I get the plug in to work for each side individually?

    • @NoiseyNeighborz
      @NoiseyNeighborz  3 года назад

      Both sides are independent but you have to remember you're working on stereo sounds in Maschine. If you raise or lower one side your audio will be uneven. Both sides should be equal to each other.

  • @pabloqdx9837
    @pabloqdx9837 4 года назад +1

    yo bro thanks for your help. one noob question here, whats exactly the difference between leveling up the volume of the sound (straight in the mixer) vs increasing its gain using this plug in? Does it blend the overall better together?

    • @NoiseyNeighborz
      @NoiseyNeighborz  4 года назад +2

      Increasing and or decreasing the volume of a sound in the plugin keeps you from distortion. The sound (in the mixer) can look as if it’s not distorting because you turned it down in the mixer. Add a VU Meter as your first plugin on that sound and it will show you the true signal from the plugin before it hits the Maschine mixer. If that meter (on the VU Meter) is peaking, then it will be distorted during the mixing process.

Make sure you on on a single pad, place a sound on that pad, then (in the software) click the plus button and scroll down till you see TB Audio. Click MV meter. On the MK3, after sound is selected, click sound at the top, right click the encoder, click the enforcer in and pick MV Meter. Hope this helps.

    The biggest issues I have when attempting to mix in maschine is getting the tail of the 808 to cut when I drop the beat. The tail of the 808 always bleeds over. Any idea how to drop that out?

    • @ChristLives85
      @ChristLives85 4 года назад

      Yes definitely!!! So I do to combat that is place a 808 not where you want it to drop at and take the Velocity and set it to 1. That way its not heard and it will stop at whatever point you want it to. As long as the 808 polyphony is set to Legato or 1 then you’re good. If you need this in detail I can make a quick video for that.
