Part 2 ride video of my recently completed Commando restoration. After my last shake down ride video, I re-torqued the head and cylinders as well as the frame and brake fasteners. I also fixed an electrical problem stemming from a loose bullet connector which dragged me through a deep dive of electrical trouble shooting with a multimeter. This video is a 95 mile ride through the Georga mountains on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Once home I was happy to see all the parts still on the bike and everything was tight. Two problems that I need to deal with... first I need to go to a 21T sprocket rather than the 20T factory one. I want to comfortably cruise at 65-70 mph without pushing the motor. The balance is to do that yet maintain good gearing through twisty roads. Secondly, I want to replace the 20W fork oil with 15W since the ride becomes harsh on colder days. If that doesn't yield good results, I can move to more aggressive options including Teflon bushings and perhaps a Consentino damper upgrade. My typical rides are 50 to 200 miles, so I need my bikes to be reliable, comfortable as a vintage motorcycle can be, and perform well through the North Georgia mountains. I'm almost there with my Norton!
