zeldamaster713 I kinda liked Nuts and Bolts, but it didn't seem anything like something that would have spawned from the BK series. You have a point there.
For me, the hype was expecting another plat-former with the same feel as the old N64 games with updated graphics and maybe some improved humor here and there. NOT the cart-building crap they attempted to pull. If it was anything but it might have worked.
@@Searching4DMT Microsoft wouldn't prevent Nintendo from bringing it to Switch (they showed they could do it by putting Banjo and Kazooie on the N64 Online service) but considering its nature, they probably won't.
This game still exists as such a strange outlier in the N64's catalogue. It was released not long before the launch of the GameCube and was an incredibly ambitious concept for such a late release at that. No other consoles from this generation had games like this, unless you count certain PS1 point and clicks, and above all Conker is arguably the second best 3D platformer behind Mario 64, and one of the best N64 games period. It's just such an incredible game for something no one really bought at the time, one I'll likely never find a copy of this for a price that isn't frick-off expensive, but I can still appreciate me old memories of listening to this as a kid on the bus home. Good times.
Ah, this brings back good memories of sneaking and playing my dad's copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day when I was in Second Grade. Fuck, those were the days.
+Jakob Thomas Grant Kirkhope, the composer of BK and several other Rareware classics, has said he would join Rare again if Nintendo bought the company back. I'm sure several of the great minds behind some the best platformers of the 90s and early 2000s would return too.
Ugh this game brought some memories always loved the music back then from Rare games they always had that great hook that they built around so it just caught your attetion and was catchy lol...... FFS as of writing this, this game out 20 years ago o.O F*** I feel old now >.>
Framedropstation 3.1 heard of it in e3 reminds me of ac4 with its own art style i think it has potential and could possibly redeem rare for the past mistakes also what do you think of project spark?
Love this game. In my opinion this game shows off Rare's originality perfectly. Its the perfect example of how not all games have to be serious to be completely awesome.
I understand that Conker would be another game made in the same formula of Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong, but it would have been interesting to see a family-friendly game with Conker in it. It doesn't matter if the perspective had to change, I think we needed another kid's game like Banjo-Kazooie anyway. I guess in some other way, it would probably make sense that the world of Conker turned inappropriate and vulgar, because some of the dirty jokes that we can imagine from Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie give us a sense that there are nasty things that happen in that same world, and Conker is supposedly among the filthier and more obscene part of that world, so you could say that Banjo and Kazooie are living among the more respectful people, while Conker just lets things slip his tongue. In Banjo-Tooie, there were a few things present in its world that portray an adult environment, like ginger beer, some toilet humor, and slight references to something dirty, but Conker's Bad Fur Day reminded us that there are worse and nastier things in the world.

Conkers Bad Fur Day was not a Kids game. I didn't get to play the original release on the n64 because my mom wouldn't let me play it, even though I was 11 at the time. I did play an Emulator of it and I really enjoyed the game. Over the top humor and movie references was so much silly fun. The Music was also classic and beautiful in a way.
I know I'm just dreaming, but I wish Retro Studios could buy the rights to Conker and Banjo. THEY would know how to make great brand new games out of both.
I don't know seeing how Nuts & Bolts turned out. I would be a little scared to see what they plan on doing to the sequel. Plus Chris Seavor was fired from Rare so I wouldn't expect Conkers (Other Bad Day) sequel to be the same without him.
It's totally worth the price. I would know, I've had to buy it TWICE. I had lost my other copy for years and finally bought another one earlier this year. Come to find out a couple months later, my friend has been borrowing it this whole time. You'd better get it sooner rather than later though, as it seems to only be getting gradually more and more expensive.
How does it sound so good? It doesn't sound CD quality but the horns sound SO much better than MIDI horns usually sound. The strings are not great but they're in the background so it isn't too bad
