Whew! I couldn't believe it when you painted the grey over those fabulous beginnings. I was thinking nooooo. Such daring! Such fearlessness! Gotta admit though, the finale is pretty darn impressive!
What an adventure this painting had. You are a benevolent warrior Pam and your paintings become more exciting, every one. This was fascinating and instructive, as always. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Love, love love your fearless nature and gut instinct. Your grand daughter has interesting colour choices that adults might shy away from. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful, "found" , joyful creation. Jo from New Zealand.
Always interesting to watch your process, Pamela! It was so funny watching you paint over in those large swaths of grey - I was thinking you were going to paint tiny stripes between the tape! LOL! (I do have to say that I do not love the music, especially since I speeded the video up a little.)
Thanks for sharing another of your great videos. Just wondering…….. I think you said you were working in acrylic because you shouldnt use oil and cold wax on canvas…… is that correct? And why is this? Cheers
That is correct, Elizabeth! I learned this after conversations with Gamblin Colors whose oil paints and cold wax I use. Canvas is too flexible a surface if you add more than 1:4 (25%) cold wax to your oils. This can lead to cracking and poor adhesion. If you keep the ratio to less than 25%, they say that’s better - but they still recommend a rigid surface for cold wax and oil. 🌺🌺
@ thank you so much h for your answer. I think you have saved me a lot of angst! I bought your cold wax course ages ago and then injured my knee so I couldn’t work in my studio. Now I’m getting back there and really looking forward to learning how to work with it. But I will work on board. Is paper ok too? Or best to stick with board?
LOVE this! If you want to improve your abstract art, take a Pamela Caughey class plus PRO. I recommend ASM, it has furthered my paintings x10 (and no I don’t receive anything for saying this. I found her on RUclips) She is a great teacher and artist. She shares her WHOLE process- the good and the bad! She answers your questions, and has taught me so much, and I am looking forward to learning even more!
Marla-thanks so much for your glowing feedback of ASM! You are going through each master class doing the work and I love seeing not only the fruits of your labor but your excitement is contagious 🌺🌺
How would it work using a brayer on the back of the brown paper to transfer the paint to the canvas? Do you stretch the canvas after it's painted? Thanks
Absolutely GORGEOUS! I love this piece, and your process, as always, just fascinating. Thank you, Pam, for always inspiring us.

Nice, as always. I didn't doubt you for a second. Thank you for sharing your ideas with the world. You are amazing Pam.
Many thanks for visiting and commenting on this video, Diane! Much appreciated :)

Thanks Jo -I often don’t realize the crazy things I did in a painting until I edit the video 😂
This was so fun to watch! Love the close ups. Can really catch the detail. Beautiful colors! Will definitely watch again.👏
Thanks so much 😊 I had a lot of fun with this one 🌺
