I still using DJI Action 2 Since November 2021.... it's my favorite action camera yet still capable of doing most of the GO series features :) ... I used GO1/2 but sold it.... thanks a lot for this video
The older DJI Action 2 holds up very well to the brand new Insta360 GO 3s. And the Action 2 is much cheaper, but the GO 3s wins the size battle. This is a really hard choice. Great comparison, and thanks for shairng Shawn.
@@tonysimon8060 This is so BS. I used my insta360 go 3 on my hat here in the Texas heat last weekend. It was 103 degrees, and my camera lasted 40 minutes and didn't realize it was on because I forgot to turn it off after I shot a stage. So no, this hole overheating is blown out of proportion. Heck I even have video's uploaded in the texas heat.
@@danieljungshoots I don't think you understood what we were saying, I meant that the DJI Action 2 is the one that overheats at 8 minutes and the insta360 cameras do not overheat at all, that is WHY I made fun of the DJI Action 2 notthe other way around 🤦♂️
For a competition shooter like myself, I love the go3. I used to use the DJI action 2 and the go pro hero series, but I hated how bulky it was and how it made my front tip of my hat droop down a bit. For competition shooting the GO 3 has been a blessing, because it's so much lighter and it basically mounts on the tip of my hap.
This year, DJI ACTION2 released a 128G version with a free cage. I never had it overheat or shut down, but it consumes a lot of power when shooting motion time-lapse.
Despite the form factor and usability of the Go3 looks easier, I keep my 2nd hand Action2. It’s my “shot in the corners” camera and helmet mount camera beside a Pocket 3 and Action 4. I never shoot more than 30 seconds sequences, so overheating is not an issue for me. And as someone said , you can buy 2 or 3 Action 3 on 2nd hand market for the price of the Go3, put it in a case with protective lens and that will make the job. But Go3 is a very nice thing with a better control screen. Very nice review. Thanks
I've been a subscriber to your channel for a while but I haven't seen your videos for some time till now and Wow dude, you lost a lot of weight, you look great, congratulations.
Thank you for the great video Shawn! Hate to pin you down since it’s a tough choice with many variables but if you could only choose one of these which would it be?
I'm pleased with the action 2 as I got it on ebay for £100 with the extra battery pack and lots of extras I have got the insta go 3 and the action 2 is better quality but I do love the smallness😊 of the go 3 because it's so discreet but the best quality camera out there is the dji pocket 3 for quality but no waterproofing. Thanks for sharing, my friend and I promise I wasn't laughing 😂 👍👌 🇬🇧
Tq bro . Your review is so precious . I want to buy dji action 2 . But in asia . It hard to find coz it 2 years ago product . I love video from dji action 2 . But insta go 3 also the best. I dont know what i want to buy now haha
I own both Insta360 X4 and Dji pocket 3, so I am loyal to both companies, but I still needed something to capture POV shots that is also discreet in public. I almost bought the Go 3S the other day, but for half the price or even less I found that the action 2 is still a good option, so I am going to get it. Wish it was as magnetic as the Go 3S though
I've owned the Action 2 and GO 3. If weight is the priority, the GO in prolonged use is more comfortable. If IQ is the priority, the Action 2 wins. If you want to stick, drop, or hang a camera, the GO is easier to mount. The Action 2 is better made but...every time I've sold the GO I come back to it not because it takes better videos but because how you use it is just different. The Action 2 works exactly how you would use a GoPro just in a smaller form factor. The GO series is like a different genre of camera, more like a stick it anywhere lifestyle device.
Great review, I have the DJI A2 and the GO 3, waiting for my 3s. For me, I've had the A2 for over two years now, other then the beautiful design, the DJI A2 has huge problems. It's extremely temp sensitive and over heats after 15 minutes of use. The A2 has horrible operating temp limit, it will not turn on if it's cold and I'm not even talking about minus temps. I wanted to love the A2 so badly as it was to be taking over my Session 5 which never had any temp issues. Also, I did a side by side test with the GO 3 and the A2, sorry, but the GO 3 actually looked better at 2.7K LOL. I'm a huge DJI fan as I have the original Osmo and the A4 and love them both, I also have their drones which are just insanely good. The A2 was a real disappointment for me and let's be absolutely honest, the A2 is still an active selling camera in stores and DJI hasn't had a firmware update for over 2 years, in another words, DJI has pretty much given up on this camera. The heat problem is a design flaw and it's not 'fixable'. It's really too bad, it's just a beautiful looking camera.
Good test video Thanks 👍 Go 3 would be better if they gave card slot and micro phone support And don't know why insta360 sell 2x of DJI Action 2 while both hardware and working is same.
@BALONGITOON, I just tried the Ulanzi magnetic adapter on the A2 and A4 and it works. I use the U-180 as it has a ball head and cold shoe to add mic or portable light as needed. I also have AP from Insta360 so when I want to use Insta360 magnetic adapter with the A2/3/4, I just use their 1/4” male plate (screwed into these 1/4” female action cams) and then connect with Insta360 magnetic mount and they become interchangeable. Net/net, definitely doable. Same with Gopros, add the 1/4” male screw onto it and use the same magnetic adapters
What is your opinion on IQ? To me 3s looks over sharpened (phone like footage) and over saturated but a bit better details… crisp foliage . A2 looks more natural… a lot more natural but less details. Everyone else feels the same?
Hi Shawn, Good video comparison. Some comments/questions below: 1) if you use A2 with Tilta cooling cage for the unit itself, you get almost 50% more on high temp setting because of the heat sink all around. Not as Tilta published 2x the recording time but good enough for my use cases without worrying about overheating. That is in a studio without airflow. Outside and with airflow/wind, I couldn’t get it to overheat, even at temps over 32degC When shooting long form in studio, I just wrap it with a magnetic active cooling fan used for smartphones and it never overheats 2) please share video file size splitting of both devices 3) does the mic 2 work on A2 and GO3? Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing. Mic 2 will work with action 2 as long as you plug in the receiver. It won’t connect via Bluetooth. Unfortunately it is not compatible with the go 3
I brought Action 2 over a year ago as it was cheap. I Thought the GO 3S would be miles better due to it being 3 years apart... but there is not a lot in it. definitively don't feel like dropping $400 on the Go now. I'd be sticking with Action 2 for awhile longer
So the insta can record for about 32 minutes without the power module. Thats really not a long time. That's probably the thing I hate most about these little cameras. I have the DJI action 2 and on a cold day it can record for about 40 minutes until it dies but on a hot day it will over heat and shut off quick
@@horror_chris insta go 3 work without overheating right? And how is video quality at low light and stabilization vs Action 2? I'm also thinking to buy go 3 instead of action 2 because of heating issue otherwise action 2 was my first choice
I like the image quality out the 3S a bit better and the sound is also clear. I wish it had 4K/60 but all in all I think the 3S is finally the better camera vs. the Action 2 considering the screen, remote ability, small size / magnetic placement etc.

That is true and you will need them seeing as they overheat so fast, so when the first overheats at 8 minutes you can quickly use that second one 🤣🤣🤣🤣

with the Go 3S outside did you had the stereo mode on or the windreduction ?
What about runtimes for each one ? Gyroflow stabilization?
That is a good question. I’m not sure if the go 3s is capable of gyro flow. I will look into that.
