Lee Ara I do know what you mean with the "not so cool" part of this fandom, but thankfully they are a very small part. BTS has some of the best lyrics I've ever heard, but they did quote MLK in this song. Can't you almost see RM working this quote in? He was the first one I thought of when I heard this in the song. I'm sorry you were disrespected by some of the not so cool elements of the fandom, but hopefully enough of them realized that it takes nothing away from BTS to quote MLK in their song.
The song is about never backing down no matter the circumstance. To stay strong no matter the issue. It’s a song about strength mentally and physically; I’m so happy you all reacted to it because I personally respect and love your reactions so much!
You may or may not have noticed the lyrics “Hey~ crow tits! All hands up!”. The Korean word for it is Baepsae (I’m sure you’ve seen that in a lot of song requests) and it is a tiny bird. There is an idiom that goes something to the effect of “the crow tit that walks like a stork will break its legs”. This represents people of lower class/standing who try to rise up in society will fail (stork = higher class/rich people). BTS references this in several songs of theirs. The song Baepsae is social commentary on this idea. In a way, they themselves are like the baepsae in the idiom as they come from a really small company that did not have as much standing compared to the other large companies.
it basically means an underdog... and BTS has seen themselves as underdogs and tries to undermine that saying... that's what the next song "Baepsae" that they are going to react to is about :D

Not today is kind of like a fight anthem for the underdogs or people in the world who are put down and treated inferiorly. It encourages them to have faith in what they're doing and ignore any nonsense others have to say about you. If there's an obstacle in your way, don't back down but instead find a way to dodge it hence the lyrics 'run if you can't fly, walk if you can't run, etc.' Overall a very motivational song:) Thank you V kings for reacting to it❤️

This song is special to me - I think it is the song that made me lifelong Bangtan Army. This is my Resistance Jam ✊🏽 and I play it daily to remind myself to never give up. I played it on the way to the March For Our Lives last Saturday and it helped when I was a little worried that there might be trouble at the March. The beginning lines were my phone wallpaper for months: "All the Underdogs of the World: A Day may come when we lose, but it is NOT TODAY. TODAY WE FIGHT!" Taeistoocute did a good job of explaining the small bird -crow tit- or BAEPSAE. It is such an important part of understanding BTS and their narrative. The idea in this song of never kneeling, never backing down, never giving up the fight is essential in BTS' DNA ! 😉 I saw several people request that you respond to Baepsae or Silver Spoon. There is a dance practice video which has the English words. It's my current favorite Bangtan song. Like so many of their songs IT APPEARS TO BE JUST A FUN BOP BUT UNDER THE SURFACE IS A SAVAGE SOCIAL COMMENTARY.
