    Sorry to hear you didn't watch the whole Series like a lot of us did.
    Angela Kang came in and took control from Scott Gimple and did a fantastic job in every which way possible.
    There were actually scary/horror type episodes and a few truly unique ones too.
    I myself was/is a huge Rick Grimes fan and for the most part enjoyed it without him.
    I only recently found your channel and was enjoying it.
    Glad I watched your opening monolog as I feel I can't go on this Journey with you watching this but I hope you enjoy it because it's beyond fantastic.... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    The time jump after the bridge before older Judith’s reveal was 6 years actually. 😉

      6! ok, good to know, that lines up much closer to where Rick is now then.

    What happened to Omaha and what the CRM has been doing was covered in the spin-off "World Beyond". I haven't watched it, but from reading about it, a lot of the questions you've asked have been answered by that show. I definitely recommend watching some recap videos for this show if you want to fill in those blanks.
    If you didn't know, Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira were Executive Producers and Writers for this series (alongside Scott Gimple), so this was a passion project for sure. Decisions like Rick finally losing his hand and Richonne meeting in the first episode were made directly by Andrew and Danai. I'm so excited to see where this all goes. The acting, writing and filming have been awesome. Great atmosphere and great talent from actors like Craig Tate as Okafor. I was NOT expecting him to die!
    The opening credits show that the CRM have bases all over the country, but Rick was in Philadelphia (technically New Jersey, because it's a very clear image of the Philadelphia skyline from where Rick was sitting on bench across the river from the city which the CRM has hidden). Our main crew's communities (Alexandria, Kingdom, Oceanside, etc.) were in Virginia. The Commonwealth which we meet in Season 10 is based in Ohio.
    The time jump in Season 9, after the bridge, was 6 years. Judith is about 9-10 and RJ, Rick's son, is 5 (Michonne was pregnant when Rick was taken and they didn't know). But between Seasons 10-11, another 2 years pass. The NOW timestamp in this 1st episode, brings the elapsed time between Rick being taken and him reuniting with Michonne at about 8-9 years. TWD has always been wonky with their timeline, but that's what has been pieced together with the information given. Michonne left to look for Rick in Season 10, so she's been looking for him for at least 2 years.
    The other recent spin-offs don't appear to be impacting this show yet, but they are fantastic and worth the watch. The 1st one is a Negan and Maggie duo show called Dead City. Negan and Maggie are in Manhattan and this shows more of what's going on in other cities. The 2nd one is Daryl Dixon which focuses on Daryl in France (he wound up there on his travels for Rick) and this shows us some of what's been going on internationally. There some interesting things that French forces of power have been doing, politically and scientifically with the walkers, that could effect what's going on here, but we don't know yet. Dead City and Daryl Dixon have both been approved for Season 2's, so it's possible The Ones Who Live will also get a second season. Daryl Dixon's Season 2 has been subtitled The Book of Carol, to indicate she's joining. So all the recent spinoffs have been shows that focus on duos from the main show. Rick and Michonne are the focus of this one and I really hope they manage they have them reunite with their kids by the end.
    In regards to the main show, Season 8 was one of the worsts, but honestly Season 9 was one of the best seasons (up there with 3-5 in my mind), while Seasons 10 and 11 were solid/average. I think you guys might benefit from a rewatch of the main show as you might have a newfound appreciation for the later seasons and characters you didn't care for on first watch. Especially since characters like Daryl, Aaron, Gabriel, Rosita and many others were seen as carrying the show post-Rick.
    I thought this was a fantastic premier and one of the best episodes in The Walking Dead in general! Really hope you guys continue to tune in every week!

      I remember hearing that the World Beyond wasnt that great, but I will def watch a recap to try to fill those blanks in.
      We had no idea that Andrew and Danai were so involved!!! You can really tell that they love these characters! The Okafor thing was such a shock haha.
      THANK YOU for clearing up the timeline a bit for us!
      Yeah this show is really scratching the itch and we are already talking about watching both Dead City and Daryls show.
      Rosita......my girl lol.
      Yeah the episode is great we cant wait for the next one!
      Also, thank you so much for such a long and well thought out comment, tons of helpful information for us!

      Another point I might add is Danai also wrote episode four for TOWL. Early reviews said it was an amazing episode so I'm especially excited for that one with how good the premiere was.

      World beyond is slow on first season, the second one is better and you can find many answers and connections if you watch it. @KennyandLindsayWatch

    Little fun fact in The Walking Dead comics Philip Blake also known as The Governor cuts Rick's hand off oh yeah and Okafor where it was said that he killed Marines to save other people that kinda reminds me of Huck from World Beyond because she did the same thing but in completely different way than what Okafor did

    • @KennyandLindsayWatch
      @KennyandLindsayWatch  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah I was waiting for the Rick hand cut off for years (When it didnt happen with the Govenor I thought it was gonna happen with Negan) Glad that it finally happened lol.

    I just feel bad, as someone who stuck through til the end, this show holds so much more meaning and weight. To jump in suddenly, having not watched all of the main show will leave you with more questions than answers. Hope you get back to it ! This is a fantastic first episode

    • @KennyandLindsayWatch

      Yeah for sure, to be fair, sometimes its nice not having all the answers, but yeah this is really making us want to go see all the stuff we missed.

    You should get back into it. All of the seasons are great, even though the first half is better than the second half. These sequel
    Shows are killing it. Hope you back and catch up!

    Obviously you didn't watch World Beyond TWD 2 seasons.
    You might want to watch that especially the second season....just saying.
    Plus Rick getting his hand cut off is a remix from the comics

    • @KennyandLindsayWatch
      @KennyandLindsayWatch  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yep def didnt watch the World Beyond, and yeah everyone thought Rick was going to get his hand cut off in the show (I know I did when Negan first came around) its cool that they finally did it.

    I stopped watching religiously after Rick leftand only sporadically watched an episode here or there of people were saying good things about that episode like the Heres Negan episode. Personally i never thought the wroting was the issue i think it was the direction Gimple wanted to take it killing Carl doing spinoffs in general. The writing almost always seemed to at least be coherent and interesting leading up to the points...but the general direction of the show sucked..it dodnt matter how interesting the writers made the stupid plot points that Gimple and others pushed. But thats my opinion

    • @KennyandLindsayWatch
      @KennyandLindsayWatch  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah i'm with you, I remember even before Rick left the Negan arc just felt so drug out and long. I absolutely could not believe that Carl was killed and then the spinoffs I did watch got bad too, I really didn't like the direction they took morgan etc. I also checked in and watched sporadically every now and then. I am hoping with this series being shorter, it can be focused and know what it is doing.
