    ???
You really see the game from the point of view of an Elite+++ player. ;) Nothing here concerns... 90%??? of the player base.
And like the Devs.... you don't seem to realize understand the skill level of most of the player base.
90% of the player base will never play Elite and even less Elite +.
Either that content is beyond them skillwise....
or even if they do decide to give it a try.... they will be kicked from the group for not having 700SP.... Elite gear... the latest Meta... etc.
You seem to overestimate the Skill level of most of the player base....
which the Devs also have been doing for the past 12 years.... which is probably why the Devs have such a hard time getting the right difficulty for the content.
And you seem to underestimate how players.... even Elite Players will kick anyone who does not have top SP.... top gear..... top Artifact.... etc.
The Elite players keep on saying they want a challenge....
    but.....
they eliminate anything or any players that would make the content more challenging.
    Oh sweet irony. ;) ;)
In the end what you ask is not for everybody.... it is just for the Elite players.... not just the Elite players but the top Elite players?? that represents what?? 1% of the player base?? 0.5% of the player base?? less??
Where should the Devs spend more resources??
Should they spend their resources for 90% of the player base???
or for the top 1%.... maybe less.... of the player base??
I already know the argument that the top 1% spends thousands of dollars to rank Artifacts to rank 200....
or to rank Allies to rank 10.
But the 90% casuals will also spend money too......
if you give them something that they do want.
I guess the emotes is one step in that direction.
I get that you are probably worried that DCUO will cater to the casual players....
    but....
They already tried to cater to the Hardcore or Elite players a few times already.
One example was Origin Crisis.... and Spytle himself admitted it was a mistake at the time.
In an ideal world.... the Devs would be able to cater to everybody.
Sadly that is a tough juggling act that the Devs have a hard time pulling off.
Either they cater more to the Elite..... or they cater more to the Casuals......
but catering to both seems to be beyond them.... especially right now with all them new Devs.
I guess we will have to wait and see what the Devs end up doing.

Hey Multiverse, nothing that I am saying is that content should be created in a way to drive out or ostracize players that don't enjoy difficult content and have no intention of wanting that content in DCUO. I've used examples in these past two raids that were difficult because of the reason why they were difficult. Instead of just making bosses have high health and hit for high damage there was actual mechanics to understand. What I mentioned about creating content backwards and that it should be designed harder first and then layers stripped away for Regular and Event difficulty gives a clear path of progression for players. Doesn't mean that all players need to follow that but in any MMO there is a desire for a player to get better at the game. If DCUO was just about styles or cosmetics why wouldn't they play a game like the SIMS etc. If we want to bring comic lore into this do you believe that the superhero's DCUO is based on would not seek out challenges to improve themselves or just play it safe all the time?
Arts/Allies, skill points to a degree can all be a barrier into wanting to progress in DCUO but that doesn't mean content couldn't be designed to limit the effectiveness of such abilities. I mentioned it earlier either in this commentary or the other one that content is what drives the game. If content dies out you will continue to see the population shrink because whatever future booster bundles or time capsules come out that bring in styles players wanted they still need content to run them in.
There is most certainly a need to make sure content is completable by the casual playerbase which is what Event and Regular can bring but if that is just mindless boring content how is that healthy for dcuo?

Hey Multiverse, I think the biggest point here is that for the kind of players you are talking about, there’s always content that you can manage completing. I feel like if these players consider themselves like casuals or cosplayers or anything else not elite/elite+ then you automatically have the type of content you like running. I’m not sure why after completing event or regular they then try to go in elite (I guess they look for more challenge?) and if they fail they just think it’s tuned for p2w players and all the excuses we hear everyday… maybe these people who don’t actually want to improve they should stick to regular and let us players who actually care for difficulty have what we want ?
You were saying that they can’t make the devs works on hard and easy content at the same time but as Chill said in the video, yes they can ! Just let the devs work on some hard content for elite+ and then gradually remove mechanics or health or anything that makes it hard when you queue elite or regular or event.
You’ve been saying people are getting kicked because they don’t have this or that but at least on my side and my experience they are people with like 500sp and arts 160 or only like 3 arts 200 that do their jobs and play well and are welcomed and invited in any hard content.
Thanks for reading, take care !

In addition to engaging mechanics and adding replayability to content, there's another thing that's missing: unique bosses [preferably huge ones for extra epicness] with unique weapons and attack patterns. Almost all boss mechanics [excluding environmental mechanics] come from the weapon the boss wields, so all they do is copy weapon animation attack patterns, slap a one shot and call it a boss. Its so easy to do this stuff nowadays with all the AI animation tools.

Recently I leveled up some alts for the purpose of farming catalysts, exobytes, etc., and on average it took me about 10-12 hours to get them from the safehouse (I skipped the Brainiac ship) to end of game. Eight years ago when I started playing, it took me two months of gameplay to go from the Brainiac ship to end of game (Amazon Fury II.) It took me another few months and a lot of help from my league to get to the point where I wasn't getting carried through Throne of the Dead. This was back when having over 200 SP made you an elite player, and I was getting clowned for having less than 100SP. Fast forward to today, and it's very easy to have a CR of 400 and 65 SP. These players honestly expect to be able to run elite content without wiping more than a couple of times by virtue of their CR. They've never done anything with more than simplest of mechanics, and they don't know how to do their support roles so they can't be in the back and contribute. That's who the devs have to cater to so of course most raids are going to be tank and spanks. The only solution I can come up with is tying skill points to one's ability raise one's combat rating, but that would backfire because too many players would just quit.

Good points here for sure. The real issue is the devs cant win. Damned if they do, and damned if they dont. The varying opinions are not helping either. Everyone has a vision for what dcuo should be, but there isn't any uniformity across these opinions. The chasm between end game players and new players is massive. Its more so the nature of the game and its natural character progression cycle. One guy wants more mechanics, one guy wants harder bosses, one guy wants more engaging content etc. It just goes on and on and on. People can have their opinions, but regardless of what they do, players will be unhappy. Mmo gamers are whiny for the most part. I enjoy Sm, new players do not; as that content isnt accessible to them to progress. I really like elite + and would like to see more of it, thousands of people disagree with me. The end game players want an entirely different experience than the new players do. The stratification makes it hard for the devs to appease ANYONE. Not unique to dcuo at all, but its very prevalent in this game. The comments here prove it to the maximum.

One thing (besides pvp) I wish the devs got better with is the story aspect of the game. For a lot of the people still playing Dc today the story is probably a minor issue or irrelevant, but it was one of the things that brought me to this game. Another area is the raid boss selection. Its a shame we have characters like Amazo who mechanically would be on roids since he can copy practically everything but sadly can't seem to find a raid to be part of.

Funny enough. Just a couple nights ago iirc. I was in Khandaq fighting Injustice with a bunch of people and we're all just reminiscing about all the content we've gotten thus far. good and bad, tho mostly the bad.
Clocktowers Oracle Bot and all other bosses that punish the whole team for just one players mistake, Enemies charging around the whole time annoyingly like Pride and Mammoth.
But the good stuff was things like Cerberus and how fun HoH was to play. having a roaming threat that would chomp you all down if you didn't get out of its way. The GENUINE tension was so much better than "oh i hope nobody uses an orbital on this boss," etc
I think we need more fun boss mechanics like THAT, Rather thn all the one shot death mongers like Steppenwolf and his lightning balls of doom or Perpetua/ The Dark Knights having team based one shots.
I like Source Wall. But THOSE mechanics are just lazy false difficulty.
I don't mind however feats tied to a team working perfectly together like with nobody getting hit by the lazy blast thing in ROE. But ONLY if the attack is just strong, But NOT a one hit kill.
One elite feat i HATED getting was the one in the new duo where you have to not get touched by the shadow pools even ONCE the entire duo. It should've been on a per boss basis, Not a do it all at once kinda thing. But i still managed to get it eventually. Showing how decent the duo actually is, In spite of a few flaws.
I think these mechanics can work for Elite plu. But the regular content is not balanced out gradually, much like you said. But even then. I think a good challenge comes from teamwork being required, But NOT being punished over a singular mistake. Cause nobody is perfect let alone 8 people at once.

I will forever disagree with you on the elite feats. I liked it back in FOS days where you could get them on either. The reason for mindless content is because ppl don't pay attention to mechanics and if they aren't finishing missions you know they're gonna complain and say it's too hard. Just look at folks running things on event mode & how they ignore stuff. I do agree I prefer the face tanking method than that running around non sense it drives me crazy. Also ppl not willing to run 2 tanks in raids still drives me crazy. I'm Ice so I don't expect to be in comps so most times I do little dpsing but more checking for mechanics to pop up that way we aren't wiping 800 times. Sorry for the long post but just my thoughts on a few things.

Thing is that all raids you mention that was giving fun was...before artifacts or allies. Reason for that is simple. Ealier game was based on subscription/buying dlcs so they need to make interesting content to get money. Also, ealier players performance was based on their skills - how much they put into learn/test rotations/clipping. Now game is based on artifacts/time capsules/allies, so....from economic perspective, there is no reason to put a lot of efforts and time into making good content, because good or bad content wont give more money. So thats the reason they start mass procuction of time capsules and allies.
Only chance for any change is to remove from game artifacts/allies and other artificial buffs based on money , so they stop focusing on making money, and focus on content, but....we all know that game already crossed the Rubicon, and only we will see, will be another ally every 1-2 month so ppl spent money on lvling new one, and crappy raid every 6 months with 3 difficulty levels.

The DCUO team doesnt even begin to scratch the graphical capabilities of Unreal Engine 3, so it is possible to make the game significantly better looking without porting it to 4 or 5. Even if there was a a way to simply port it (which there isnt), it will still look bad because the quality of the models and textures in the game is very low, simply porting it wont make them look better. If you've played the Batman Arkham series, well those games are on UE3 and they still look great even today. But that graphical uplift comes at a cost because they'd have to redo most of the models and textures and performance will take a hit as well. Best they can do is some facelifts here and there, but don't expect anything that will knock your socks off.

If anyone in here plays ff14 their raids are way harder. And the thing is you cant just jump into the raid clueless and complete it by accident or by getting carried its impossible. Everyone has to do their own mechanics and if they dont it will almost always lead to a full team wipe. I find that way more enjoyable than the boss hits the tank harder and the boss takes less damage. These raids are very bland its pretty much the same mechanics over and over block, lunge, or move your character 15 feet in every dlc its boring. Ff14 also has a lot more abilities for each class than 30 and you almost always use every single ability not just 6. Dc can be a fun game again but they need to be more creative nobody wants to learn mechanics in a day and have max renown in a week it leaves you with nothing to do. They can update how many abilities you can use and add new abilities. They can make raids actually difficult rather than just stressing out the tank. They can also definitely add new powers idc if its wind thatd be better than nothing.
