@@andrejcupac7359 It's not guaranteed in 4~5yrs of the phone's lifetime, plus if you have scratch guard then you must be using the case and if that's the case and your screen is flat then lip of case would protect most of the time so even that $1 guard would last you atleast a yr! I currently am not using a scratch guard and my phone dropped face down, screen was totally protected by the lip, ie no cracks or damage!

Remember, a screen protector main purpose is to protect the screen. If the screen protecter is stronger than the screen it can shatter the screen through the protector. And remember, you can always easily replace a screen protector, not the screen itself

Screen protector has significatly higher hardness thus a lot higher scatch resistance which means your screen will remain pristine even after years of usage
I appreciate the test using Mohs scale of hardness however I’d also like to see a drop test as arguably that’s a more useful experiment. At least for me, I find a lot of screen protectors shatter way too easily
Those that shatter easily are the ones who'd save your phone. The kinetic energy from the fall will be transferred to the protector and your screen would be saved.
I would rather buy the $1 protector 100 times applying a new one it each time it broke rather than spending on one $100 protector that provides a 2 level higher grade of protection but only for once 💀
I played the screen protector game for over a decade. A big reason I returned to foldables, other than the convenient form factor, is instant easy protection, with one flip. I don't often close my Z Flip during the day, unless I know I need screen protection.

honestly, hydrogen screen protectors are the best. they dont shatter, if they sustain damage that doesnt tear then it will not be noticed and when a shatter does occur, the gel just tears slightly leaving no damage to the screen. i love mine
I'm glad to see that the $1 screen protector, while worse than the $100 screen protector, still does its base job of protecting the phone's screen from any damages. Because of this, I would gladly buy the $1 over the $100 one, because I'd be changing screen protectors far too few times in the phone's lifetime to make the $100 one worth the money, and I wouldn't be losing money by buying even 50 of the $1 ones.
I have a screen protector thats botttom layer is glass and then it has a softer, squishier material on the top that feels like glass, does not break and doesnt scratch

Sapphire isn’t shatter res, it’s scratch resistant. On the opposite, it shatters rather quickly, even glass is more durable. The harder a material, the less shatter resistant it is because it isn’t flexible enough. Your crystal glasses will look beautiful forever, but they are less resistant than glass. That’s why watch makers use some kind of patented plastic for the watches they brand as durable.
The issue with a sapphire screen protector is that it can damage the glass below when shattered. Also, sapphire shatters waaay easier than glass. There isn't 0 point in a sapphire screen protector, but at those prices I strongly suggest just buying a bunch of glass ones.
So even though my phone has the "one of the highest scratch resistance covers" i still actually use 2 (scratch resistant covers) just to be safe. After 7months and 2 times dropping HARD.....i just took 1 of the covers off, and was still in the clear w the other glass protector AND the original phone glass still intact......so im ok...and for those who are wondering using 2 glass protectors didnt cause any lag or problems w finger pressure on what i was using the phone for.... 👍 Cool, later dudes
