      I disagree on the simple opinion that every veteran commercial pilot would be thinking if they were caught in this situation and lived to tell the tale: they were doing what had to be done at the moment and don't want to be recognized for doing extra in their job.

    • @christopherjames6602
      @christopherjames6602 8 месяцев назад +6

      This wasn't a miracle - this was a moment in time that had the pilot fall back on their training, required patience, and a calm mindset to get the job done. The miracles that deserved to truly be recognized can be found in the four Gospels of the Holy Bible. If anyone were to watch and listen to the interviews of this pilot after the incident he never thanked GOD for helping him crash land safely, which is a big indicator of his lack of faith, if he has any, and the fact that he accepted tv interviews after the successful crash landing, shows the world that he has an egotistical personality - true heroes keep their achievements hidden from the public, such as the USA's Greatest Generation's fighter pilots of World War II. Whenever they were interviewed, they never bragged about themselves, and always said that the true heroes of the second world war are those who gave their lives to defend the freedoms of the United States of America. Those who volunteer fight to protect the United States of America from outside invaders, knowing that they are leaving their families, friends, hobbies, and everything else familiar to them, without ever having any fear that they may one day have to die for all Americans - both those who love and hate the United States of America - with the hopes that someday the country they are fighting for will continue to survive for centuries after they die. The only ones that deserve the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in my opinion, are those who are in the military of the United States of America, because they are the only real heroes, not some pilot who saved a bunch of passengers from a bird strike while doing his job.

    Capt. Sully followed the first two rules of pilotage: fly the airplane, then work the problem. It took a cooperative effort of co-pilot Stiles, the flight attendants, ATC, and all the first responders who arrived almost immediately after the plane settled into the Hudson for this miracle to occur. As a private pilot, I consider Capt. Sully a role model. During one of the many interviews, Capt. Sully was asked: 'could you do it again?' Sully's answer was priceless; 'wasn't once enough?' Again, THANK YOU Captain Sully!!!!

"Little children are hungry how does God allow that" likely is another retort you would have in a different context. Let me tell you friend the will of man, the failure of mans contraptions and circumstances create Hudson events. Wrong Place Wrong Time good working airplane, shred a whole flock of birds dead engines. It happened. But a good God who can move on people and intervene as we cannot explain along with a whole bunch of good human beings that display the innate goodness and Love of God sprang into action to save all those lives. You need to humble yourself, get off that "high horse" of self righteousness and ask God who HE is and will HE respond to you. Be ready cause if you ever do humble yourself that way an answer will come and you will know it. No danger though you are so jaded your pride will NOT let you. May God have mercy n your soul.

    I think there's more to the draw of the Miracle on the Hudson than just the time when it occurred. I only found out about it a few years ago. There's something special about it. I'm an avid student of disaster and am particularly fascinated with how we go about preventing loss of life. Granted, I grew up watching The Weather Channel's Storm Stories, so that might have something to do with it. Apart from the geese, everything went right for them that day, considering they were in one of the most densely populated places on earth. It's frankly amazing.

    Sully did the #1 thing he was supposed to do. Ask any pilot what is the single most important thing you learn in flight school, Air Force, or wherever you've trained, and you will be told "Someone has to fly the plane". It sounds simple enough, but if panic sets in, someone has to stay focused to do that job, even if everything you try doesn't work. Sully spoke the words to Jeff in the movie, and while some may laugh, it was the most serious thing they could focus on. So Sully said the words "My plane" which means he is now flying the plane while Jeff scrambles through the book looking for any information that might help them, but they had no way to get back to a runway in NYC or in Jersey. They lost altitude too fast.
