Randy (Jamie Kennedy) discusses the rules of the sequel with Dewey (David Arquette) as he lists out potential suspects.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A year after the monstrous success of 1996's neo-slasher flick Scream, director Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson reunited for this follow-up. Since viewers last saw the characters, nosy newswoman Gale Weathers has written a sleazy best-selling book based on the events of the first film, a book that has been adapted into a Hollywood film called Stab, starring Tori Spelling as Sydney Prescott. The real Sydney (Neve Campbell) has since gone away to college in Cincinnati in hopes of leaving the horrific events of her past behind her. Unfortunately, at a showing of Stab, two college students are murdered in a fashion that is reminiscent of the slayings that took place back in Woodsboro. Suddenly, Sydney, her pal Randy (Jamie Kennedy), and dopy deputy Dewey (David Arquette) find themselves once again pursued by a ruthless masked killer. Among the other potential killers and victims are Sarah Michelle Gellar, Laurie Metcalf, and Liev Schreiber.

Randy was a very intelligent person when it came to horror movies. That's why the way he died always bothered me. He would never stand in front of a door/abandoned vehicle.

In Scream, Dewey asks Sidney, "If they make a movie about you, who's gonna play you?" Sidney answers, "With my luck, they'd cast Tori Spelling." In "Stab," the movie-within-a-movie of Scream 2, Tori Spelling plays Sidney. LOL

Randy is my favorite character in the movies. His massive nerd knowledge of film rivals Stu's bizarre antics.
Randy, Stu and Dewey is what made the movies for me. Now that even Dewey is gone, I'm definitely done.
The rules to successfully survive a horror movie sequel
*#1.* The body count is always bigger.
*#2.* The death scenes are always much more elaborate; More blood, more gore. *_CARNAGE CANDY._* (Your core audience just expects it.)
*#3.* If you want your sequel to become franchise, never, ever, under any circumstances, assume the killer is dead.

It's crazy how Randy listed all of the" future" suspects. Mickey, Hallie, Gale, and Derek. You see, in the original script, Derek and Hallie were supposed to be the killers, but as soon as the script got released online, they had to change it. So, they changed it to... Mickey! Whom was listed in Randy's list and was revealed as the Scream 2 Killer. But, also, Wes wanted a killer in the movie, so he also had Gale as the killer too, so 3 Killers all together, until the script was scrapped.

MrParkerman6 That's one of the contradictions about this trilogy for me. Randy knew more than any other character about the circumstances of all the first three. In the first one he correctly suspected Billy, then found Tatum dead and correctly suspected Stu did it. He was basically like the Yoda of this trilogy. He was expected to be one of the survivors of all three movies.
Randy the way he talks, his love of horror films, and his genius rules where people think hes nuts.
He literally knew it was mickey!!!! (didnt account for mrs loomis).
He was clever i wished he stayed in the films longer but you know the rules you make out with someone youre immunity disapears.
forget the Mrs. Voorhees reference being a great subtle hint to the twist ending! what about the brief Stab scene with Sidney (Tori Spelling) and Billy (Luke Wilson) when he says he accepted when his mother left??? that's a blink and you miss it hint!

Mood Forever In the first one, Billy saying he accepted his mother leaving foreshadows his motivation for becoming Ghostface. Showing the Stab version of that scene here, it foreshadows Mrs. Loomis being Ghostface and wanting revenge for her son's death! Amazing! Also, sorry for the late response.

If they make 5cream it should be about prequels. I wonder what the rules for prequels would be? 1. They're inconsistent 2. They always reference the originals 3. There's always a pointless cameo 4. They ruin their franchise

To those who are curious what Rule 3 was going to be, I looked it up and it said that Randy was going to say “If you want your sequel to become a franchise, never ever expect that the killer is dead”. He’s right. Freddy, Jason, Michael, and Chucky were all thought to be dead, but they kept coming back later. Which led to one of his trilogy rules in which he says you have to make sure the killer loses his head to ultimately be dead. Of course, even though this happened to Chucky in Child’s Play 2, his blood went into another doll and he possessed that one. And it wouldn’t matter for Freddy since he would just keep reappearing in the Nightmare World.
And with Candyman he's a spirit and an urban legend, so he shows up wherever people tell or whispers his story or his name. Also in the first one he haunted the area where he died and in the sequel he haunted the area where he was born since both had ties to him. My point being he did not die because urban myths, legends and stories don't/can't die. So there's another way to follow the rules (and plays in with the story in another way because it's almost like saying the past is never dead).

But Jamie Lee Curtis says that she doesn't want to come back as Laurie since they ended her story on a good note, which I agree.

@@TheBandit025Nova Since 1978. It had been 44 years for her. While I wish Halloween Ends was more improved, I am glad that Jamie decided to stop playing Laurie since the character finally gets a happy ending. The other 3 versions don't get so.
Original timeline: They say she died in a car accident. But just like in the H20 timeline, it's revealed in the comics that she faked her death. She successfully kills Michael by chopping his head off, similar to what she does to the paramedic in H20. However, after doing so, it causes her to go insane. So she puts on Michael's mask and starts killing. She's then captured and put in the same asylum he was in. She's actually put in the same room he was in and just like Michael, she stares at the window doing nothing for the rest of her life.
H20 timeline: Put in an asylum after she killed the paramedic by mistake. Then when Michael tracks her down, she gets ready to kill him but wants to take his mask off just to be sure it's not another random person. Then Michael stabs her and she falls off the building.
Remake timeline: Laurie stabs Michael to death and she puts on his mask. She is then shot by the police. Either this is a dream or it happens after getting healed from her wounds by medical help, she's in an asylum and smiles upon an illusion of seeing her mother with a horse. There was supposed to be another film in which it reveals that Michael is alive, but it was canceled. I guess Laurie was supposed to be revealed to be alive too.
In conclusion, all three of those timelines had a bad ending for Laurie. Halloween Ends gave her a happy ending with her never having to worry about Michael again, problems with her and her granddaughter are resolved, and Laurie has a love interest.
This is a good example of why i love this movie.
Ironically. the guy playing Mickey the freaky Tarantino film student was actually cast in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film.

The fact that he knew it was Mickey from the start
The Scream films just weren't the same without him. It's like if they wanted to bring him back in 3, then they shouldn't have given him such a cruel, fatal death scene. Then they could've made it seem a little realistic that he survived his attack.
But the only logical way they'd ever bring him back would be if Randy ends up being a killer and just showed up after 2 decades. And since that would be a stupid, though completely unexpected idea and a twist..I would rather the character just be left alone and stayed dead like he has been. Randy maybe knew a lot about the rules of horror films and usually seemed like a potential suspect, but he always proved himself to be a good guy who cared about Sidney. And even Dewey & Gale. RIP Randy. 💔

Randy was "technically" right about every killer through the first 3 films (even in death lol) wether it be directly or indirecty: 1st one: flat out said it was Billy (may have been bias behind it because he was jealous due to his love for Sidney but still). Even though it was due to process of elimination, he told Sidney Stu did it right before the big reveal and he was right. 2nd one: again flat out says Mickey is easily someone who shouold be a suspect. The subtle hint with Mrs. Vorhees. 3: from the video: he talks about learning something we didn't know before and its something from the past: Sid's unknown half brother. Indirectly correct.
Watching this to try and predict who the killers will be in Scream 6, but going off requel rules, its kinda hard to decipher....

One thing that Randy forgot to mention was Debbie Salt the one that kept bothering Gale Weathers but Sid hasn’t even seen her or Randy so it’s not SIDS friend Halle but it’s Billy Loomis mother Mrs. Loomis and Mickey working together. He got Mickey right because he is involved in all these killings plus with help from Billy Loomis mother. They both were working there way to catch up to Sidney and they did but neither of them failed to take her out so she and Gale took him out then Sid took Mrs Loomis out with a head shot since she is crazier then Mickey.

I wasn't 100% but I had a feeling all along that Mickey might be one of them. Debbie Salt/Mrs. Loomis, however, COMPLETELY blew me away.
The rules of horror movie sequels. For the most part, they followed them. As for Randy's guesses, he was not as on the nose as he was with Billy and Stu but he provided a hint as to who the second Ghostface was. Of course Mickey was not so different from him so he didn't want to look at it and Dewey didn't even go to school with him and Sidney. It was nice of him to have that faith in Gale.

Anthony Eatman Actually it's referring to two different circumstances. Like you said, they'll comeback for one final scare after they've been taken down. The other one means a new series or sequel of killings is always possible, even when you believe it was over with the last killer.
