Always loved compression on my bass. Have the same exact guitar going into (ballin' on a budget) monoprice 15 amp. Have a big ear elle reverb coming in today. Debating on getting this compressor used as well. Also nice to hear the mighty mighty bosstones riff 😎
The one question with regard to keeping or selling the Keeley C4 is: do you have a SSS Strat? One of the things we Strat players complain about is having a single coil bridge pickup that lacks presence and is ice-picky (too much high end). The clipping knob is useful for boosting the bridge signal while mellowing out the high end. I tend to switch compressors if I want to use compression with a dual humbucker because I turn the clipping all the way down on the C4, and what's the point of having a knob thats always off. This reinforces my belief that there is no ultimate version of an effect but only what is most useful and in line with what a player needs and likes.
Can't answer the keep/sell question now. I get you prefer this to the compressor (plus), but there's so many out there. Perhaps I'll say keep on the proviso you continue having a look about for an alternative you think will better serve you. You can sell compressor though now!!!

Yes I have a SSS strat, I might have to have a run with it using the C4
The Keeley is a modified Ross compressor, actually. But the Ross is a modified Dyna Comp, so you're not far off.
