- NBA 2K24 has been leaking news like crazy from gameplay, to the new pro play feature, to the new NBA 2K24 park on Current Gen and a lot more exciting news! But recently they announced the New Season Pass on NBA 2K24 both the PRO and HOF versions of the Season Pass will be available for purchase and on the surface this idea seems cool but when I dive in to it, it really make me wonder WTF is NBA 2K24 actually doing here...
This is honestly something that the community HAS to hold each other accountable for. Remember when we used to hold each other accountable for park cards? We gotta band together and stick together as a community to stick it to 2k. Look at what the Gran Turismo community did. When that company tried to impose a whole bunch of microtransactions the community joined together and spoke out. REFUSED to buy. And the company ended up moving away from the microtransaction heavy kinda game. We need to stick together on this one. Seriously.
And a year and a half later we barely get race cars we got a fucking ambulance in the last update…

One thing I don’t see many people talk about is the fact that however much money we spend on this game we won’t be able to play with any of it in 2 years. The fact that they shut down servers to games that literally only came out 2 years ago is insane😭

Even if it is just cosmetic, it sets a precedence. It won’t stay that way, as 2K has shown. They’ll keep taking steps to get more money from you. The cosmetics from other games makes sense because they’re FREE TO PLAY.

I wish they brought back skill points to only upgrade your player. VC can be for everything else. Use VC in the beginning to first upgrade to 80. After that you can only use skill points. Your contract pays in skill points, and off court deals pay you in skill points.

Even if it is just purely cosmetics it still does not justify a paid battle pass. Items that were sold in the clothing store will now be locked behind a $10 or $20 dollar paywall. Notice how 2K worded the pricing of the pass at $10/$20 dollars, suggesting that season passes won’t be available to purchase with existing VC, but always a direct purchase instead.

Just an idea, when we make are builds I feel like when they say “test your build” we should be able to select are animations and stuff so we can really test how good are build will be. So that we aren’t making a build and hoping once we max it out that it’ll be good

Honestly if it goes down that path and the paid passes offer competitive advantages… then it’s up to us players, customers, to not be apart of it and to raise our voices. Joe and the other big voices, it will be up to y’all to bring everybody together and say enough, we don’t have to boycott the game completely but if we all raise our voices together and spam 2K support on email and Twitter, maybe we can be heard.

Personally, I’m full… 2k23 my career builder was greedy with changing 5 points in attributes and getting extra 3 badges… nah If they want to this type of moves, give us a player that starts at 75/80 overall and upgrading him costs 20 dollars. With this I don’t care anymore… I will go and play Baldur Gate 3 and Starfield.
Quit after 2k21 and honestly don't miss 2k. Spending $300+ is stupid, and people are doing it EVERY year.

Even so I was cursing under my breath every year for paying for the build in September, then buying another closer to the meta in December, and so on on… So I’m perfectly guilty of being stupid all these years. But this season pass and just the grindy ass gameplay of last year, with ridiculous fun stoping barriers ( stamina, adrenaline, better animation by the miles, boosts, builder tricker, core badge grind…) this is just to much… and why only few weeks before release they are dropping few hint News? There is no demo, no real gameplay… we all know every build in September will be wast of VC and then in December there gonna be clear cut meta with 3 best builds. I’m breaking with this Groundhog Day…

The Season Pass should only have , Boost , VC , Gear , & way to travel as usual. Anything that help improve your gameplay should be earned thru the Rookie to Top 10 Grind such Core patterns , Extra badges , make having your shirt off & having a tiger mean something again like old 2k

Battle passes and micro transactions to level your player and get boosts to make you play better in a FULL PRICE $70 game is ridiculous. It's already plus 1 badge and core patterns in season pass .so u know it's going to be in the hall of Fame season pass. Imagine making a build that has more playmaking and defense badges and u only got 17 badges in the other 2 category but they drop a core pattern where u able to core two badges in those categories that's plus 11 badges in those categories

You get low VC payouts in my career that forces you to buy more VC.
And IMO with the battle/season pass they’re going to put stuff in the pass that will force you to buy it or you will be at a significant competitive disadvantage. I’ve already made my mind up 2k23 was my last time giving in to a greedy company. If anything I’d just play offline play now.

Considering how 2K operates, I can only see them making the premium passes have a major incentive on players to buy them, and that doesn't just point to competitive edge.
I can honestly see something like Rebirth being locked behind the premium rewards because of how popular it is among the masses. Not exactly a competitive advantage but it saves quite a bit of time in grinding builds.
That's just one thing I'm concerned that they'll do with the passes. It doesn't need to be directly related to a competitive advantage. It could be something as simple as a QoL feature that they'll now pressure you to buy so that you can have an optimal experience.
It makes no sense for any of it
Making a season pass that has the ability to skip levels for a higher cost has already put us on a slippery slope. If they make even a minimal amount of money for something that doesnt improve gameplay, 2k25 will up the ante and trickle in more and more advantages through the seasons.
MyTeam already has a gambling system and people who are caught in that loop will almost always buy the battle pass because they now know exactly what they're getting.
A Triple A title acting on Free to Play principles is disappointing but hey.. theyre a business so it doesnt matter if they put out quality as long as they makes money right?

As someone who only have ever plays MyNBA I feel bad for players of other game modes. Honestly think players are going to have to boycott those modes for these companies to stop taking advantage of consumers.
Same goes for FIFA.
2K used to be the go to game in the past because it was more realistic than it's counterpart. The modern 2K games resemble Fortnite and Saint's Row more than a basketball simulator.
Someone needs to approach these board directors in real life and ask them why.
It looks like the battle pass might include VC and if thats true (and the VC amount makes sense for how much your paying ON TOP of the other rewards) then I rock with it. I dont spend anything on 2k past the game because the rates for VC are so ridiculous. This could potentially help somebody like me who slowly grinds out players
U get 15k vc for buying it and u can earn 45k. That is 15 k less than if you just bought 20 dollars worth of vc
I grew up playing games from the mid 90s and I can assure you sports games used to be so much better than the crap we have today. I practically retired from NBA 2K since 2K18 and have rarely touched the franchise since. I gave up on Madden almost a decade ago. It's a shame because their greed & incompetence is what drove me away from the series.
I can totally agree, for Christmas most years I would go down and buy older consoles games just to play nba - madden in the eras when they were trying to make a good game and not trying to make money.
Unless they change their pricing practices I'm not buying another 2k you can't charge the prices they do for games and then still get full crazy monetization for the vc attributes and season passes, if they lowered or made the game 20 dollars or free then that would make sense they were never this greedy before and were the company that was for the people back in the day, they even would sell their games for cheaper among other things to gain favor.....they're out of hand with this and gta

I’m share this thought as sign of hope. Them giving a hof badge in myteam isn’t that big of a deal. In the beginning of myteam everything is super restrictive. You can’t put any badge on any car which means there may be 5 cards at launch that can hold the badge but given the fact it’s low tier card it’ll be outdated and still be trash cause all the other stats will be super low making the card useless. Like u stated tho moving forward if people support it heavy then it’s going to get ugly 💯💯💯

I can't believe we are at the point in gaming when a game influencer admits they are "fine" with season pass type bullshit "so long as it's just cosmetic." No! We are ALREADY paying $70 BASE PRICE (as if that isn't bad enough) for a game that ALREADY requires you to spend ADDITIONAL money to make your player even REMOTELY functional on the court...not to mention the MULTIPLE editions they are releasing (with a $150 price tag at the most expensive option, just for MORE content)...and NOW they said "but wait!
