Isn’t the alternator already grounded to the block via the bracket to alternator housing connection? I don’t have that from the factory in my 4.4L Monte. Just from the bracket to the battery.
Btw the cover for the B+ alt post is important. God forbid you have a front end accident, that post can short to ground and start a fire/cause the battery to explode. Not that the cap is a guarantee, but it could prevent that.

Hey boss man nice ride wondering if you can help me out here I have 85 cutlass with same engine I did an even swap with less miles on the one I have now but totally forgot where n what goes to what all the connections n vacuum lines I delete the smog pump since In Chicago we don’t need it since car is antique wondering if you can make a video of your connections so I can match mine up would really help thanks

Go on Amazon and look for the Haynes book for your cutlass.
I have both Haynes n the chassis manual one but you know with out color all the shit looks the same 😂

No, you don't need a fuse.
Hello so I did the upgrade on my 81 Cutlass. Battery to bellhousing bolt. From bellhousing to firewall. Bellhousing to frame. Same alternator set up as yours and grounded to the front of the block but when I accelerate the voltage goes up to 18 then at idle in park or at a stop light drops back down to normal. Any ideas?
It could be a bad voltage regulator on the alternator that's causing this.
Is it necessary to upgrade to 6th gauge ? Will stock normal grounded wires not work ?
Imo it's necessary when upgrading the alternator. It's very helpful, especially when you have a sound system and other components that are additional to the stock setup. I've noticed a big difference with this upgrade. Thank you for watching 🤝💯
How much watts can this amp handle? I jus got this amp. I have a 2500 watt mono amp n a 500 watt 4 channel amp. Only lookin forward 2 the system runnin n nothin else
This alternator is rated at 150 amps. I'm pretty sure it should do more than ok.
Do you know what test tool you Wes to measure the current your amp is drawing? Is that what clamp meter is for?
Yes, you can use a multimeter to check.
@@StillStandingGarage DO you know what type? Most meters can only pass 10A for a few seconds before blowing the internal fuse.
What rpms are you idling at?

Ey Homie, off the subject, do you know how to change out the trunk emblem on a 79 Monte Carlo? It’s the one with the rivits/swivel cover. Not sure if the 78 has the same? If you have any info I would surly appreciate it. Let me know.
Yes, you can drill out the old rivets to remove the old lock cover. You can then rivet in the new lock cover.
