This is so good, I'm walking the way with 2 mates I've known for 50 years, since we met in infant school and if we have half the fun you guys had I'll be happy.

Hi Becky I enjoyed your Vlog of the Cumbria Way it looks like you had some lovely Weather but shame about your friends being ill. I’ve done this walk a long time ago with a friend of mine who unfortunately passed away in 2002 of Cancer but I have great memories of the walk. atb thanks for taking us with you Cheers Glenn 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️

Great video Becky, illnesses aside it looks like you all had a great time. Amazing weather by the looks of it too. I'm hoping to do the Cumbria Way in a couple of months, so it's great to see some of the route.

Ah thanks so much, yes, luckily those were at the end so they didn't impact the whole trip, would have been nice to finish as a three and not on my own though! Ooo nice, hope you have a great trip. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions :)

Thanks for an enjoyable and well made video. I am hoping to walk in 4 days this week. Possibly going to wild camp although rain forecast each day. The scenery looks amazing.

Been looking at your equipment list as I am planning to come over to the UK at some point, and do a long distance UK hike that has been on my list for many years. Interested in how you did not take paper maps. I was looking into this as I would have a stack of Harvey maps for the trails I would be doing. What app did you use as some areas I plan on visiting (especially up towards Cape Wrath) could have no mobile signal for days, and I have always preferred maps and compass, wondering whether to have a mixture - the easier signposted trails (south west coast path/pennine way/west highland way etc.) just using digital then maps for the more remote routes, especially Cape Wrath trail?

Hi Matthew, thanks for your question. As regards to this particular trail, myself and 2 friends chose to navigate via our 3 x phone Apps and GPX navigation via our watches. I personally use OS Maps and have used for numerous long distance trails for navigation. I know how to read a map so I can use the online mapping to read the route, in addition, we used the many signposts on this trail. I've done solo trails where I would carry paper maps and a compass but for this trail we weighed up the risks and felt we had plenty of options without paper maps. If I was personally hiking the Cape Wrath then I agree, I'd certainly take paper maps for the trail. I've also hiked the West Highland Way and Pennine Way, both as part of a longer hike so I wasn't carrying paper maps when I did those either. On OS Maps I'd always create and download the route so that meant even with zero signal I could still access the map and for tricky or challenging sections as a backup I'd also print screen the maps. I would carry a compass and for some sections which I deemed may be difficult I would take the compass bearings so I had them if I needed them. That's a rather long reply but I hope it helps as regards to your planning :). Feel free to ask any other questions.

    • @BeckytheTraveller

Ah thank you Andy :) Ooo, how exciting, I bet you can't wait to get started. No issues with wild camping, unless you class those pesky Daddy long legs haha .We are planning on doing again but in a different season so no changes other than the time of year to experience different scenery :)
