Omg I’ve never been to the south (I’m from Toronto) but I watch and recreate alll the southern cooking videos for some reason (and they come out fire if May so myself). So yesss I feel this comment 😂
I love his voice, skills, just down to earth calm attitude, remind me so much of being home in Alabama and Mississippi.. not boastful about how his food turns out but it’s obvious that it’s delicious, rightfully so because of the care he put into preparing it. Keep the good recipes coming, I love them.😋
Viewed the video this morning. My wife and I just enjoyed a slice with a cold glass of milk. The glaze is akin to English Toffee. My wife says it it the best cake she has ever eaten. I agree. Thank you Chef Charles. Well done!
I tell so many women there is nothing on Earth like a black woman's inner glow. I got stuck with a weird zombie mix of Mediterranean and Asian. The only thing my skin glows is nuclear when I wear yellow or bright green. Cherish that beautiful dark skin ladies.
Earlier today I was pining for my GrandDaddy's pound cake! He was a Navy cook in WW11, and afterward, lovingly prepared every meal his large family ever ate, and dragged in every neighbor & straggler to make sure they didn't go hungry! Unfortunately, after he died, my (pastor's wife) Aunt found, and refused to share, his prized recipes! Since 1982, we've been asking & waiting. Occasionally, my Aunt would make his cake recipe for us. We'd freeze it, share it & treasure it for months! In hindsight, it seems she only did this to remind us she controlled GrandDaddy's recipes. Maybe she sought the similar love & administration we had for him? If so, it backfired! Your recipe brings me so much hope & pure joy! This is so close to what I remember! After so many attempts, by watching you, I just know what i missed! You do things I never thought of! Even if this pound cake isn't precisely like GrandDaddy's, the LOVE ingredient is exactly the same!!! If I never get his recipe back - yours will be a perfect new tradition! Much love!
This makes me happy and sad at the same time. My sister did something similar with my mother’s memories that she keeps for herself. It’s an incredibly selfish thing to do. I hope that you begin to carve out new traditions mixed with your grandfather’s traditions as well, the best you can.
My grandma did the same thing! Broke my heart that she wound share her prized choc cake recipe . This will be a new tradition of happy baking and I will share the recipe!!!
4 minutes in, and I'm all in. Your choice of nuts on the outside. Genius! Everyone but my bff ( 1976) has passed, or far away. I can't wait to make this cake! I'm taking a piece, and the rest, to our local "Rescue Mission". Care about you're fellow man. Charles, bless you, this looks like it rocks!
"If the phone rings then you're gonna let it ring" - Mr. Charles. Never hear of this cake but I already know it's a winner. Never seen this man before but I already know it will be proper. Thank you, Charles.
I am back for another comment. This MAN needs to be taken off the internet and given his own show! I made the cake and I am afraid of looking like a quarterback! My back is struggling to stay small. This cake is everything. I told my granddaughter to put the cake on the roof - so I could save my mother and daughter and other grandchildren a piece. Mind you, the roof is over 100 feet high. I can't stop eating it. Sooooooooooo goooood
I believe you!!! I did the same thang with his cream cheese (I added real lemon) THA BOMB!!! I had to give most of it away because my neck & my back was not safe!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Finishing the video. I had to giggle. Met my mother-in-law in 1987. Gulfport MS. She was teaching me Ronnie's fav recipies from his childhood. He had to stay in the kitchen. I remember turning to him and asking "why is the flour suffering?" (self rising). Mr. Charles, I did subscribe!! Love how you went thru detail anyone could understand. The mixer speeds, thru each step. I'm old now, and can't remember, well a lot. You made this easy, so I think I can do it! 🤗
Before you take it out the pan ,use a wooden screwer to poke holes, pour half of sauce/glaze and let sit for 10 minutes, then flip out on plate and add rest of sauce/glaze❤️
@@beaulah_califa9867 the reason why you poke holes..to allow the glaze to soak in the cake instead of running off cake onto the pan...use long toothpicks to poke..try it you may learn something
When I was a child a family friend brought me a box of pralines from New Orleans. I lived in North Dakota. I don't think I'd ever eaten a pecan before, let alone a praline. I've been chasing that flavor/texture/taste experience ever since...thank you for this. I'm going to try to make a praline cake!
The Cake looks fantastic, he clearly knows what he is on about. But man, listen to him. He sounds like some of the more experienced guys I used to work with: Always informational and a joy to sit and talk to.
I think it would help the sauce to get into the cake if you poked some holes in the cake with a skewer first and then added the glaze. Looks delicious! 😋
Chef Carles! you are hurting me Sir,! lol. that Cake is making my mouth water. Thank you for sharing this Beautiful Delicious cake, recipe. Much Love! your newest fan.
Sir, all I can say is “yummmm!” I love to see a real man using real ingredients like butter and sugar. That’s some real love right there there! Because of you’re going to enjoy a pound cake, enjoy a pound cake! It got its name for a reason. Props to you chef! You’re a treasure. ❤
I love this man. Didn’t know he existed until today but baybeeeee he cooked that pound cake like my grandmother used to. And yes, his skin and voice made me stay.
Your cake looks so delicious but, please show your cake more when you are cutting it. Don’t forget to show how it breaks apart with your fork. I would love to see moist it is!! Please show more of the CAKE! Thank you 😊❤
I clicked because of the title, but after watching it being made, it looks positively decadent. I can't wait to try it with this video on stand-by with its incredible instructions!!
I know most ppl clicked on this video because of the delicious looking cake. But can we take a moment to appreciate this man’s perfect skin????
My skin is constantly severely dehydrated from medications so I’m definitely jealous.
You are right! People with dark skin like his rarely have imperfections. All that melanin 💗
My thoughts exactly beautiful skin
I love black skin.
It was the smile & awesome chefs hat that did it for me!
As soon as I heard his accent I was locked in and knew I was in good hands
Oooh where's his accent from? Nice video
😂😂 Right.

Milk is perfect. Who needs coffee which masks the flavor of the cake.
Do he have a store location
Does the glaze get hard or does it stay glazy?
How is the glaze made and put in the Bundt pan??
As a chef I'm really disappointed that this man wasn't my teacher! He seems so patient...
Agreed!
I dunno why I'm watching it or why RUclips even recommended it to me to begin with. But I'm digging it.
Same. This guy is a slow, steady master. He is the guy who has baked hundreds of these, and he knows it cold.
