Why choose, just get both like I did.. 😂. As a dual brand owner Indian and HD, my comments are as follows: 1. The Indian is a bigger bike, longer and more roomy. 2. Indian has the better suspension out of the gate, and if equipped with the ESA system a much better ride. 3. The Indian has better standard features, more horsepower, more torque, electric windscreen, vent gates for the fairing, better standard lighting, locking panniers and cubbies. 4. The thing that the Harley Davidson has is the name, and feels a little more like a giant sport bike.
My motorbikes: 2023 Indian Challenger Darkhorse - 2023 Harley Davidson Road Glide Fast Johnnie ST - 2022 BMW R1250R - I am 6’3” tall with a 33.5 inseam, so the Challenger provides a better rider ergonomic when opting for the Extended reach seat from Indian. I put a Saddleman Step Up +1 on the Harley will most likely need to get a +2 seating option for a better riding position.

Excellent comparison video. Very unique. Your is the first video I have seen where both bikes are ridden simultaneously and are discussed back and forth while testing!
I own a 2022 Indian Challenge Limited with a slim line tour trunk. Looks are subjective and a personal choice. Both bikes are beautiful. There is nothing wrong with fit/finish or paint on Challenger. Indian chooses to cover more of the engine behind the rear cylinder. Harley leaves it open. Power/torque, brakes, suspension/handling and lear angle sensitive traction control are superior on Challenger. A stock Challenger is a fast bagger. Don’t believe me? Go test ride one!

You can get a seat that will move you forward to get closer to the foot controls. I went with the Challenger (‘23 Dark Horse) over the Road Glide. The RG is a beautiful bike but what did it for me was (1) the infotainment system is hands down better than HD, tho the ‘24 models look to be upping their game, (2) the adjustable wind screen really helps with the buffeting when I need it most, (3) I feel “in” the Challenger vs. “on top of” the Road Glide. Ride feels more balanced to me, thus more comfortable, and lastly (4) PRICE. All the included bells and whistles on the Indian and it’s still considerably less expensive than the Road Glide. At least that’s been my personal experience.

I totally agree that the fairing on the Indian from the saddle is a bit to whim wham on the inside and I don’t like it at all from the outside. It’s not a bad looking bike and if Harley had not done so much better on style and flair on theirs the Indian could be more palatable than it is in comparison to Harley’s work. I suspect the they are both a pleasure to ride though. I never trade in when I buy. The bikes don’t eat anything so I can leave them sit until it’s time to ride them again. I love the road glide and I do have one pretty much identical to the one you rode here and I DO love that thing. It’s especially sparkly with a big cam; makes it all the much more fun to ride. My wife rides a Street Glide ST and that thing is a beast out of the box. She is a twitch faster than me getting to top speed but I can whip her tail between the lights with that cam… …it’s all in the give and take 😂

You both seem to like the Harley the most. I don't understand that. I owned a 2017 road glide ultra, very nice bike, but not nice enough to keep it. Sold and bought a new Honda Goldwing. But I've rode the new challengers, I really like them, would have bought one over the Goldwing except I don't trust anything to do with Polaris and since Polaris owns Indian I felt like to much of Polaris may have rubbed off onto the Indian brand.
That aside the challenger was very enjoyable to ride, very nice seat, better engine cooling, lots more power, much better ride and handling. And the adjustable windscreen. Most reviews and people I know choose the challenger over the harley-davidson, seems like you guys would go the other way.

For me, I'm going with the Indian Challenger because overall, it's just a better bike straight from the factory. Better handling, better suspension, more torque, more horsepower and overall better technology than the Street Glide from frame to infotainment systems. One thing that Harley does better than Indian is the stock throttle response. Other than that, Harley is still a little bit behind the curve, to include the new 2024 Road Glide models that incorporates a lot of the styling from the previous years' CVO. My favorite bike of all time is the Harley Fatboy but even then, for the price you're paying for the Fatboy, to get what is essentially a bare bones Softail is ridiculous in my eyes and that alone is and has been my biggest gripe with Harley in general. It was different when Harley was virtually the only American bike out there besides Victory (which was nowhere near the availability and notoriety of Harley), you either got a Harley or you went foreign. But now I feel like Harley is still trying to use that whole Harley is "The American V-twin" reputation to justify top tier prices for bikes that are no longer top tier in the cruiser category. For example, outside of the 2024 models, why would I spend 30,000 dollars on a bike that has less horsepower, less torque, outdated suspension setups, and comes with incandescent turn signals when I can go to Indian and spend around 5-6,000 dollars less on a bike that has more horsepower, more torque, far superior suspension (inverted front forks, adjustable fox mono rear shock), electronically adjustable windshield, ride modes and LED's all around straight from the factory with no upgrades necessary? And with upgrades blow's even a spec'd out fully customized Harley out of the water in overall performance.
I know everyone talks about the customizability of Harleys and the dealer network and all that, but let's be real. When it comes to those two things, while there is a ton of custom parts for Harley, how many Harleys do you actually see in real life, on the road, that are so much different from the others that it's noticeable? Not many. The meme that show's a bunch of Harley riders walking through a parking lot trying to figure out which black Harley is theirs because they all look the same is funny because it's true. In 2024 there's not much that you can do to a Harley that you can't do for an Indian when it comes to customizing the bike. The only other thing that is actually a real thing is the dealer network. It will obviously take many years for Indian to catch up on that front, but even now it's really not even that big of deal provided you didn't buy a lemon and you take care of your bike. As it is with all motor vehicles. For me it's more-so the idea that I'm ultimately spending more for a bike that offers less simply for the name that's stamped on the tank, and that's not enough for me. If Harley dropped the cost of their machines like 2-3k across the entire line-up it would be a no brainer for me to go with Harley and that alone would force Indian to meet them at lower prices or go out of business.
At the end of the day ride what you like and as long as you're on two's you're golden in my book. That's just why I personally choose Indian over Harley.

I never had a Harley with less than $10,000 in extra motor work out run me.
However, just for kicks and grins I test rode a BMW K1600b. I came back from my test ride and bought one online (the dealer in Kansas City wanted $4k to much) 3 days later.
My BMW will power wheelie straight up vertical at 50mph with a simple Bren Tune on the motor. It will outrun about anything but a 1 liter sportsbike. An absolute monster and is more comfortable and refined as anything on the road. I put 14,000 miles on her in 6 months. It is a water cooled 6 cylinder which is what BMW is famous for.

The Road Glide is a much better looking bike with a better fit and finish. One ride on The Challenger though, and it's an easy choice.

I'll just say looks are subjective. Power, and suspension aren't. Nobody will say the Harley motor is stronger or that the Harley has a better suspension.

Harley discontinued all their entry levelL Choosing rather to sell only high end, theyre sending a ton of people to Indian. Most Harley chicks who rode the Sportster are now ditching Harlry altogether. Harley has gone woke & doesn't even have an American running the company now.

It’s a board put in place by the shareholders. That German, although at the head of the table, is hjust the unfortunate face, he runs nothing directly.

Discontinued their entry level bikes? The only models discontinued were the Dyna and the Street models. There is still a Sportster model, and several new models that are quite good as entry level bikes like the Low Rider models and the Breakout. I don’t mind people liking what they like, but let’s be honest in the presentation.

The Indian has a better balance to it and feels more solid Harley is geared differently making it feel smoother but both are best in class
