The first Cure album is extremely influential and way ahead of its time. I’d love to know what your favorite beat I played in this video was 🙏 Intro [00:00] Influences [00:44] Foxy Lady [01:21] Saturday Night [01:46] Jumping Someone Else's Train [02:10] Siamese Twins [03:11] The Hanging Garden [03:35] The Figurehead [04:23] Drum Fills [04:52] Grinding Halt [05:20] Boys Don't Cry [05:40] Set Up [05:53] Outro [06:10]
Hey Cobb, I like your no BS analysis of really cool.and influential drummers! Here are some suggestions for the future, in case you're open to such: - Dennis "Machinegun" Thompson of MC5 (last remaining living member now) and "The New Order" - Brant Bjork of Fu Manchu and Kyuss (e.g. Whitewater, what the heck, that intro) - Ruben Rumano of Fu Manchu and Nebula - Dan Peters of Mudhoney (HE defined Grunge drums, period, not Grohlschmuck😅) These drummers do not get enough love out there! Oh, here's another one: Gene Trautman of The Miracle Workers, who started out as Garage revival in the mid 80s, and then did some GREAT albums with beautiful & groovy songs. NOBODY seems to even know them these days, weird.
I love how Cobb doesn't just cover obvious chops drummers like Neil Peart, Steve Gadd ECT, but covers those drummers who may not be the most complex players but we're still doing something cool, interesting, and influential. He did a cool one on Mo Tucker who was not some technical wiz but did interesting drum parts just the same.
Could you make a video explaining all the different types of drumming genres, since there are so many types of rock pop alt ect. Sub genres & like what the real difference is between the necessary ones to learn & what is really important to learn music theory wise & playing wise for drumming & patterns???
More comments for the algorithms, but yeah another winner. The drums of the Pornography album were extremely influential to me as a young drummer, and Im still standing on those shoulders, honestly. Serious question: What kind of all purpose crash would you replace that ZBT with, if you were going to?
Hey thank you so much for your comments! I would probably go with an A Custom but my ideal cymbal set up would be something similar to what Phil Selway has in the From The Basement session for Radiohead’s In Rainbows. Enjoy the content! Cheers 🍻
Hey man could you make a tutorial on understanding the drums on dominic fikes she wants my money? It’s super easy but the cymbals trip me up since I don’t have a real drum kit I’m just using a keyboard with addictive drums 2 or at least a video talking about it on how to make easy drums sound like it

Tucker is awesome, the whole white light/white heat album is a trance
The "drumming style series" is great! Tolhurst doesn't get enough respect considering how influential The Cure is. Great work!
Love this one, thanks for the content! Boris Williams has some odd drum patterns as well, give it a go.
Very interest. I liked how you played the songs after talking about them
i absolutely love their first album!
Hey Cobb!!!! the world needs more people like yourself... I like your taste in music, you def dont sleep on the past. Thanks for that! 💜
Brilliant. Thanks for that. Lol rules !!
Well done, thanks for sharing. I think Lol Tolhurst did an excellent job on Faith too, it's a pity you didn't mention it in the video.

Love your stuff! Could you do an episode on Jim Gordon’s drumming style, I think he gets overlooked as a musician due to his personal issues.
Love the videos! I would love to see a breakdown of the drumming stuvle from The Yussef Dayes Experience!
Amazing content keep these videos coming!

You should do a video on Stewart Copeland at some point. Absolute madman.
