Yeah flights can add up, but the credit card points are easy for anyone to do, and honestly super easy. The chase freedom unlimited card has no annual fee and their points rewards are really good. We just use it for groceries and gas and we have been able to get almost a week of free hotel stays this year alone

55 Dollars per day just for hotels isn't very good at all, unless your staying in 4-5 star hotels only
