It’s the “idk” tag for me! 😂 Love seeing the good and the bad of your collection. It’s real and we all deal with the same ups and downs with our plants. Also, these tours give me ideas for new plants. 👍🏾
Watching this back and seeing your little baby Kalanchoe pushing it's first set of babies is so surreal! I absolutely love Mother of Thousands and Mother of Millions but I always forget how quickly they grow. When I first started collecting, right around when this video came out, I had one Mother of Thousands. I have over 200 MOT/M at this point and I have no regrets.
Love your plant tour. Take all your succulents and cacti and put them on the windowsill. They need so much light. Boroughs tail will pick up in full light x
I went to some thrift stores and bought some extra lamps floor lamps I bought two of and put the hundred watt equivalent LED light in them took the shades off and put them by my plants where there was very little light I've been bought three other lamps really cheap took the shades off of them and put them near my plants. My plants are doing marvelous you don't have to go buy expensive plant growing lights. Also Dollar General sells for $7 under the counter strip lights and they can be attached to a shelf using Velcro they use very little electricity and I have probably a hundred little baby coleus growing in a seed starting box that are so healthy just laying that strip light on top of the seedling tray they come with the lid so they're sort of like a terrarium. I put two of those strip lights there. Then on another shelf where I had a Christmas cactus I put two strip lights and the Christmas cactus just bloomed beautifully a few weeks ago the strip light was just an inch or so above the plant and I did a video of it that I posted recently on my site. Those strip lights would be of great help to that shelf that gets very little light. Most of the plants that you have on that are plants that need a lot more light I also have orchids in my bay window and the couch is in front of the bay window. I needed more room to put more orchids in that window so I had some of those wooden TV trays I put behind the couch so it lets me get three rows of orchids in my window. It still wasn't enough sunlight for the orchids I have been collecting and so I bought some plant stands at Walmart that were like $5 each and I put them on the TV trays so that gave me a place to put an orchid on top of the plant stand and under the plant stand. I also use collectible glassware vintage glassware bowls Etc to put my orchids that are in clay pots in so they don't damage the wood after I soak them every week and nutrient solution. I can't believe you've gotten so many plants in one room you've done a great job and it looks like maybe you're a pepperoni mm expert... Excuse the way my little secretary the microphone on my cell phone keyboard teehee but spells that plants name! I use my cell phone to comment and dictate what should be said using the microphone on the keyboard. That way I can feel like I'm having a conversation with the person who produced the video rather than just leaving some trite little sentence that doesn't keep a conversation going
Awesome tour. You need to put your cactus that is on the top dark shelf in bright sunlight. I live in Phoenix and cactus with spines always need a bright sunny window. You are an awesome leaf mom.
Wow your plant collection is a positron incredible, so amazing to see all of the plants you have in your space! I love that purple oxalis triangularis 😍😍 happily subscribing, always excited to find new plant friends
Wow I can't believe you can put your calatheas right in front of a window without any browning! Mine are a few feet away and it's dropped leaves. Also have mine on a pebble tray
What an incredible plant collection...and you know all the names! Awesome. I love the string types of plants you have and I will start looking for those at Lowe's or Home Depot. New friend here from Texas.
When you have a plant that grows a new leaf and drops an old Leaf it's because it's not getting enough nourishment and so it's recycling what's in the Old leaf for the new growth. So some of those nutrients that can be recycled or nitrogen potassium and phosphorus and I think magnesium. I buy the Jobe flower sticks or plant fertilizer sticks and that seems to help stop that problem. You can get them at Dollar General the dollar store Lowe's Walmart other places. They cost about a nickel each. Also in the water that you use you can put a teaspoon of Epsom salts unscented into your water and water with that and that gives them some magnesium. Also sometimes they need calcium so you can buy something called tell magic which has calcium and magnesium in or by pelleted lime made by Epsom company and that helps provide calcium to the plants gradually
I have a RUclips channel it's just my name plus house plants orchids Etc and you'll find me and I've learned a lot from other RUclipsrs you have a wonderful selection of plants. I can't believe you can keep your Ivy alive because they are so prone to spider mites I just won't buy one anymore. For my hard to take care of plants like calatheas and ferns or plants that are hard to get to the water I buy those glass or plastic self watering bulbs and they really help.
@@TatesPlants Hi Mitch, thanks for your response I really appreciate them. Btw, I'm transferring my plants from clay to plastic pot so that it's easier for me to bring outside.
You might find a way to hang your hoyas and spider plant in hanging baskets. You can either attach them from the ceiling or from a clothes rod type rack. I say this because I have several Hoyas and some of them are like 4 ft long and blooming.
Iceman cometh yeah I will for sure be hanging them once they get big enough! Right now they’re mostly (minus the krimson princess) all still little plants
Can you make a video on how to propagate plants/ how to know whether a plant can be propagated? Also -- best hanging/string plants for lowlight rooms (easy to take care of), and maybe how to deal with bugs/treat plants with bugs?
Hi! I’m glad I’m not the only one who has one room for all her plants. I have some baby ones right not who can grow into monsters and I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it lol Edit: how was ordering plants from Home Depot? Was it packed well? No bugs?
Your Hawaiian snow bush and any other plant that dries out too much the soil pulls away from the side of the plant and when you water it it doesn't soak the root ball anymore. So any plant that hasn't been watered and the soils pulled away from the side of the pot needs to be soaked and a bowl of water if it's a large plan a bucket of water until that soil expands to touch the side of the pot again. Sometimes you have to give it a little bit of help and push down along the edges to make it sort of seal against the side of the pot again. And I don't mean so good for a day I mean soap it for maybe an hour also while you're doing that you need to water from the top. Usually it's not the drying out that hurts the plant it's the fact that once it dries out the root ball doesn't absorb water anymore
I think you're having a bad time with your succulents and cactii because they need A LOT of light, more specific, they need direct sunlight. Your peperomias are so amazing, love them all
Your string of Hearts I wouldn't water it until the soil dries out and then since it doesn't have any roots to suck up all the water in the soil I would just sprinkle a tiny bit of water every once in awhile on the top quarter inch of soil so it doesn't dry out. It would probably do better routing if you had a clay saucer with soil in it that way it would dry out quickly I had trouble with variegated String of Pearls because I watered the whole pot and they rotted $50 worth of them. I bought a string of hearts in a little 2-inch pot and it's grown five times as large as it was when I bought it because I let the thing dry out completely before I water it again also it needs very bright light like in a West window is where I have mine. There is succulent so they need a lot of direct sunlight not sure about the window you call where your sick plants are I think that window if the shade was pulled up some you would have better success with your string of hearts. Sorry if I'm coming off like I know everything I do not know everything I'm still learning I'm 71 years old and I've Loved plants all my life. So please don't take things the wrong way I'm only trying to help not be bossy. I love your pepperonium I'm just new to them and I have a feeling they need to dry out between waterings maybe you can tell me the trick to keep them healthy. I also have some that I have for sale
How do you keep the stripes on your calathea ornata so nice and pink and defined?? The stripes on mine are more messy and light green :( I think it needs either more or less light but not sure which
Cactus need full sun, move it outside with some direct light and it’ll do soo much better. Also water in small quantities once every week or 2... your collection makes me want more plants even though I already have like 150 😭😭
Maria Santana I’ve been considering moving it somewhere with better light, maybe I’ll move it on the windowsill where the jade propagation is! And yesss the answer is always more plants!
Tate Mitchell yess I think that would be ideal! Living in Arizona, cacti are everything. It’s a very dry/hot climate. Anyways goodluck!! Loved your video!
Your Croton needs direct sunlight that's why it's dying... And an Oxalis will go dormant whenever it decides it wants to usually in the fall but since it grows for little bulbs if it's oil it will come back again in the spring or when it's good and ready to wake up
I've learned so much about plant care since posting this video, I really need to do an update 😂 I did end up switching those, but have since given them both away!
Oh my what a collection n they are all doing so well loved them all n a very good start for you all the best dear new subscriber here please stay connected friend 😍😍😍😍👌🔔👍💞💞🤝🤜🤛
bea w Ah good idea that would be cute too. I have them in plastic rather than terra cotta because I saw that. Just gotta invest in some glazed pots now 😂
Hi I am new to your channel, my channel is new. Crotons are too temperamental for me. I put my syngoniums in leca. I like pepperomias too, but I don’t have close to how many you do. 😊
I wouldn't be as "enthusiastic" about your "mother of hundreds" having so many babies. That plant is terribly prolific and invasive. You'll be pulling little babies that have nestled into your other plants for years to come if you don't watch out. Just sayin'
shot Johnny I find that so cool though! I’m going to isolate it in it’s own little area once those little babies start falling off. Thanks for the tip!
@@TatesPlants You're welcome. And yes, isolating her and keeping her indoors is probably the way to go. But whatever you do, do not put her outside. LOL! Her babies LOVE to hitch a hike on the wind and settle where they feel like it. : ) Anyway, thanks for the upload. Nice collection!

I water them whenever their pots feel light, or their leaves get squishier. i only take them outside when im repotting them

I have 5 grow lights, but also 2 windows that get bright indirect light all day!

I got it from a local nursery! I might have some available soon if you're interested, go follow my instagram!
I think you're having a bad time with your succulents and cactii because they need A LOT of light, more specific, they need direct sunlight. Your peperomias are so amazing, love them all
