'The Predator' IS supposed to be a comedy, as it was intentionally filmed that way.
A predator movie in-general must be this that or another genre? No-one can say for certain at this point in the franchise.
You didn't explain much.
Here's what you did:
- Described what came before (whilst making sure not to mention the elements of humour that the franchise has had in every installment, incl. the first. (Besides perhaps 'Predators'?).
- Subsequently, it was implied, those expectations & want for a particular kind of Predator movie that wasn't ultimately delivered.
Anyone is free to dislike a film in a franchise for any number of reasons (often tone-style-genre concerned), of-course. In the same sense, you commented that I can enjoy the movie for myself.
Then how does one choose to behave about it?
You can either accept the movie for what it is, and drop your preconceived notions, or you can be bitter about it and make a pissy comment like Thomas ReXx did, as-well as "many other Predator fans". I get it, if you really love the franchise and paid to see something entirely different.
You're right, not everyone who dislikes 'The Predator' is necessarily behaving bitterly about it. Perusing this comment section doesn't instill a sense of confidence about that though...

This ADVERTISEMENT is GOOD! WTH, how did you all make such a BAD movie and then suddenly turn around and make an advertisement that is FAR SUPERIOR to the product you're advertising?!
The people who make trailers are different to those making movies, so I'd say: more sensible writers, better direction, and just straight up being better and a better understanding of the 'flavor' of the franchise. Kinda sad given that the movie itself would have had a talented team and much more resources to work with.
