I finally got an MRI after going to 2 different physical therapy places over the last 2 years with no improvement, just more pain and being given steroids and Naprosyn. It shows gluteus minimus tendinosis on right. Labral hip tear and cyst. Also, I have adductor tendinitis where the groin tendin pulls and pinches. I've read tendinosis is different from tendinitis in that it causes the tendons to break down or deteriorate. My new PT has me doing these stretches that you recomnend to avoid, and holding 2 minutes straight. It's very painful afterwards. I went there to use pool therapy thinking it would be better. Out of 4 visits, the pool down being cleaned last visit and no treadmill either time, it's broken down. I am going to put off that PT and use a gym pool instead and do some of these things you've taught. Any suggestions on other exercises to do? I plan to go slow.
@MissionMovePhysicalTherapy I've been to the rec center pool and did 30 minutes of exercises, which didn't leave me in pain afterward or the next day. I did some matching in place. Slow walking forward and backward. Sudevwalking with short side steps, not wide. Some arm exercises and a few kicks. Also I walked 2 laps in the lazy river. That was difficult walking and balancing. I let the current pull me a few feet here and there. I need to get stronger still. I only did one day, as after that I got sick. I plan to keep doing the other exercises. I don't hurt quite as much. Sometimes I get a tight pinch in my front thigh, when I move my leg a certain way. It throws me. It's like the muscle is caught and then a sudden release. It's weird.
How do I get my doctor to consider that this could be my problem? They saw in my chart that I had sciatica several years ago. they did x-rays of my hip. Nothing showed on the x-rays and because I had sciatica in the past, they say it can only be sciatica. It feels very different than sciatica did though. They said that doesn't matter. They are sending me to physical therapy for sciatica. Can the physical therapist change to helping with gluteal tendonitis or do they have to stick with sciatica because that is what the doctor said?
It depends on the PT practice. We operate out of network, so we treat whatever the problem is. But if you are working though insurance sometimes the practice will only treat what is on the script, which is so dumb! Hopefully the PT was able to help you "off script"!
@@MissionMovePhysicalTherapy Thanks for the reply. I have been going to PT for a few weeks now. I told him my hip hurts. He started with a lecture about how the spine and sciatica work and how I need to lift with my legs. And then he had me stand up and actually looked at me. He was silent for a minute and then he sat down and apologized to me and acknowledged that it IS my hip. He noticed that I stand very lopsided. He measured my legs. One leg is longer than the other. So we started with a wedge in my shoe. He is going "off script" and working mostly on my hip. Lots of exercises to stretch and strengthen. He does some decompression, which helps a ton. He and I are both unsure if all of it is from the leg length discrepancy or something else is going on too. I'm so grateful that he listened and is helping me.
Hi Joel, This is, believe or not, your Uncle Lew. I believe I have Gluteal Tendinopathy in my left hip (over stressed hip playing golf in late November). Anyway I came across your video trying to figure out a fix before golf season starts up again. Been going to PT for a couple of weeks now and it seem to be getting worse rather than better. Based on your video, my physical therapist has me doing some of the exercise not recommended in this video. What is your recommendations for when I can get back to swing a golf club? Do I have to rest and rehab for so many weeks? Do have to be totally pain free first? Thanks in advance for any recommendations. God Bless
Uncle Lew! How are you? I am glad you found me on RUclips. Text my office number at 678-400-0300 and we can set up at time to chat about what's going on.
Can hardly hear what you are saying otherwise great video
Ditto, you need to improve the audio with a remote mic. Good information . Thanks
Working on it!

Very hard to hear your valuable info
Sorry about that! We had some audio problems that we are hopefully fixing.

No volume
I had to put earbuds in to hear them.
