That inch makes a huge difference. HUGE! When I travel for work, as you may already know, internationally, I need to pack both evening going out wear and casual day wear with 2 pairs of shoes. Domestically, the smaller of the two suffice. I pack only athleisure wear since there's really nothing much to do.
So true! The extra inch really does mean you can pack a whole other outfit or so, depending on how you pack! Since you're on airlines often, do you see Rimowa ever?
@@anthorpology Crews usually use TravelPro. As for passengers, I see a lot of business travelers using TUMI. The rest are from different brands nothing too expensive. Rimowa is a brand I have yet to notice as a carry-on item, however, there are many roller board bags that look or resemble Rimowa. On occasion, I'll see Louis Vuitton toller bags and plenty of LV keepall and never full's..
how do you see cabin vs cabin s for sizing these days? i have not travelled much in recent years - but want something that i will not have to worry will this fit e.t.c - if thats the case do you think i should go with cabin s just to be safe for nearly every event?
I personally love the cabin s size, I find I don't ever sacrifice anything when packing! However, having the regular cabin size as well does leave that extra room if we need it which is nice! I was like you and wanted to be safe in all scenarios, especially now when checked luggage is going missing left-right-and centre! So I would get the cabin s! :D
The glossy carbonate is more durable. I've had both matte and glossy polycarbonate Rimowas and the matte cracked at the wheel casing and the wheel fell off. I've used the glossy more often and the suitcase is perfect. I attribute this to the better flexibility of the glossy version. The matte is more rigid and so more prone to cracks.
Thank you for a great video! I wish I could travel back in time as I love the Glacier Blue! But I settled for the timeless White Gloss which I also love! The SA at my local Rimowa boutique was super helpful and even offered me Sparkling VOSS water. Super happy with my purchase and can’t wait to travel with my new Rimowa!
Thank you 💖 I agree, I wish I would've gotten a colour as well for myself, but the white sounds beautiful! Love that you went to the boutique and got sparkling Voss water, how bougie 🤩
I’m going with the larger of the two since I fly mostly domestic and only ever take carry on. I figure that will give me the most options for short and extended trips. And if I have to check it occasionally no big deal. I’m going with the classic aluminum so a few battle scars will just add character :)
Great video Thor!! I absolutely LOVE that beautiful glossy Berry colour 😍 this was such an informative video... I was actually looking for a new case for an upcoming trip so this is perfect timing.
Thank you for watching! They’ve both held up pretty well! I would say they show scratches differently, the glossy shows up as black marks whereas the matte shows up as grey/whitish marks
OMG before watching your video i thought the cabin is the standard size and the cabin plus was the big one and thought to myself that who would buy the s other than the minimal packer and its sleek design. now i understand the existence of cabin s 😭😭
Great review! I was very hesitating between Cabin & Cabin U but decided to get the Cabin at the end. Have you ever had any issue with the airline when you use the Cabin size for carry on?
You persuaded me to pick up the cabin in the mango polycarbonate. Excited to see it in person! I’ve seen the aluminum in person and was way too heavy haha
Omg love that for you! The mango colour is really nice, super bright! Makes me want to go on a tropical vacation ASAP. And yeah, the Aluminum is quite heavy
I'm debating whether to get a cabin in slate or cabin S in matte black, thank you for this, super helpful! I really like the slate grey but it's even too big for Singapore Airlines :'(
Thank you for a great review. I need an advise, I travel 226 days a year and I never check my luggage. I have through many carry-on suitcases, such as Briggs & Riley, Hartman. Which Carry-On suitcase do you suggest for ease of rolling on carpet, and very high quality telescopic handle. I look forward to your response.
Thanks for watching! Wow thats a lot of travel! Honestly, for the wheels alone I recommend Rimowa. They're known for their 360degree wheels which can basically roll on anything and everything with the push of your pinky finger. There are also a large range of handle heights to pick from depending on what is most comfortable for you! 💛
I would recommend going for the aluminium version of Rimowa‘s suitcases - that’s, what the company is known for and I love the craftsmanship! By the way: great video:)
I do love aluminum however do you find the Rimowa dents and marks easily? My Tumi aluminum luggage has marked so easily from travel and the SA said this is typical :/
@@dolledupbyj When I was working at Nordstrom I saw some FUCKED up aluminum ones, like literally holes in them and massive dents and scratches. The polycarbonate is more flexible so it's less likely to dent, but it has other cons I guess
@@anthorpology yes Omg I bought a black matte tumi and within one wear there’s silver streaks all over the back 😂 that’s what I get for adding 60lbs of clothes LOL
So the cabin, cabin s and aluminum cabin won't fit in the overhead compartment?? How about store horizontally? How do you store it when u travel? I was planning to buy both essential cabin and aluminum one
No No they will all fit in the overhead compartments on traditional aircraft, but on smaller aircraft the regular cabin sizes might not fit, in which case you would have to check them. Since I have the smallest size I normally just put it in the overhead without any issues! Depending on how you travel, you shouldn't have any issues with either the essential or aluminum!
Hi,awesome video! I’m contemplating if I should get a glossy or matte black Rimowa Essential cabin luggage. In your opinion, is matte or glossy polycarbonate more aesthetically pleasing in the long run? Not sure if scratches will be more apparent on glossy or matte?
Hi, thank you for watching!! I feel like matte will wear better in the long run but glossy looks nicer! I feel like the scratches will show more on glossy.
Thank you!! Ever since they were acquired by LVMH, they seem to release their new colours in tandem with the other houses! For example, their new season colours of Flamingo and Azure Blue can also be found as Celine's new releases! And Green is truly the colour of the moment ahah
Hi, how many days worth of clothes do you think can be packed into the cabin size? Do you have any experience with using the essential Steve collection?
Hi! In my experience between 7-10 days, depending on if you re-wear some of your clothes on multiple days! I have experienced it when shopping for my Rimowa, and the added sleeve is more for like a laptop or magazine, something tall and flat than extra clothing!
Great comparison sizes - the standard cabin size is considered oversized for a carryon on the US domestic legacy carriers, so it’s nice to see the “S” size. Have you picked up the little rimowa amenity kit? :)
Thank you 🤩 I really like the S size as it’s so compact and I have that peace of mind 😍 I haven’t picked up an amenity kit yet, I’ll have to look into that!
@@anthorpology awesome! It’s like a mini polycarbonate version of the clutch piece, but without any hardware for a crossbody or hand strap. I’m trying to find one to use for a camera box lol
@@anthorpology I have to pause and think about your mantra on mindfulness consumption. I haven’t even been bringing a camera anymore when I travel 🤦♂️

I think so, I have a friend who owns the glossy and after 1 use it got pretty banged up. But my matte one does have scratches too but they're not too noticeable.
They're so cheap. Yeah I bet making something in the Czech Republic was just because they loved the culture or were more skilled. Girl please. It better be made in Germany or it goes in the trash!
Such thorough review! Also, that green looks fantastic on you, your baby blues are poppin' off!!
