Great video. Another video that would be fun is advice on where you set the mix for delays. In my ears, my delays sound great... but they don't always stand out if I go back and watch the recording from church. Any advice on that topic would be appreciated!
This is a great idea! I have had to adjust mix on delays constantly for different tours, songs, etc...its tricky and I think when playing live everything has to be a little wetter than when I'm sitting at home practicing...at least, that seems to always be the case. I'll try to cover that soon! thank you!
Noisy signal, ugh. Tell me about it. Our front of house engineer complained about my "noisy" tone for like 3 years. I always thought it was the single coils in my Tele, but then one week my compressor went out so I had to play without it. It was the quietest my signal has been in a long time. Hadn't even occurred to me that it could be the compressor.
I've had some days where the noise was so bad I couldn't use the single coils or I had to use the pickups in the middle position....which seems to eliminate hum...but yes the compressor can be so noisy! Ive had so much better results ever since using that Truetone CS12 power supply
That was great! You know for a lot of us, (well me, anyway) thinking how albums are made, i think like ‘Let It Be’ films you know there’s the Beatles working on a project in the studio recording parts... seeing this sheds a lot of light on contemporary techniques. Obviously, great gear into a great amp and mic’d right will always sound great - but then seeing what you do afterwards was really enlightening. Thanks again!
Thanks man! I'm with you...I'm always interested in how guys get sounds in the studio...there are so many ways to get effective tones in the studio. It's so different than the way you approach live guitars...still amazes me how different the techniques are!
Hey man! I met you years ago at Church of the Highlands Motion conference when you were playing with Tomlin. Not sure if you remember that, but I play guitar at Highlands and love to watch all these videos you are making! I’d love for you to do a video on double tracking guitars, because I’ve been getting into that a lot with recording stuff at my house for new Highlands songs we are writing
Hey, thanks for saying hi! yeah man, motion conference...thats awesome! Thanks for watching these videos! that's so cool. I've definitely watched some of yours when I need to learn some lead parts for a song I don't know that we're playing at church :) so...thanks for bailing me out a few times! ha! glad to hear the double tracking thing is a subject that sounds interesting. I've used it a ton and its really useful. Thats cool you guys are making some new music and you get to work on some of it at home...feel free to reach out if you have any questions about it. happy to pass on any secrets I've picked up along the way!
i dont have amps like that.. hahaha.. but i guess i need at least one.. nice to see you every time servant of the Lord. I really listen to your inputs on this kind of setting.. I really agree on the quality of your tones.. it's just like heaven of tone for me. tone brought from above. keep up and God bless!
I remember Jeffrey Kunde recently saying that he uses an Apogee Duet and SM57 90% of the time, in his home studio, to re-record parts on the Jesus Culture albums. I’m totally digging your simple approach!
Thanks for this, enjoyed the run through of your setup. One question: how are the mic cables getting to the garage and are you using any special boxes to send the signal between the mic pre and your cab? Also, how is the head sending signal to the cab?
As far as the cable runs...I just have really long mic cables that go from my mic pre (up in my studio) down to the mics in the iso box down in the garage...same with the speaker cable from my Head...I think its a 50 ft cable down to the cab. No special boxes...just drilled some holes in a few walls and fed the cables down to the cab :) thanks for watching! let me know if you have other questions...happy to help if I can!
Wohooo first view😀🙏🤙

I want a t shirt that says “Guitones”.
Ha! We should make that happen 😂
What do you do to eliminate single coil hum?
Good power supply, less cable runs, and humbuckers....one of those or all might do the trick!
Good morning 🌞 You Are AWEmazing Thanks for the advices
DawnDee Earven Thank you for watching!
hey Daniel, is your fender Princeton a 65'?
