Utica, NY Fire Department Station 1 last day, May 1963

This video shows the last day of Fire Station 1 at 1217 Park Ave. in May of 1963. The Station was closed and demolished and a new 3 bay station was constructed in the same location. Shown are firefighters loading furniture on the apparatus to move to different stations while the new station is constructed. Engine 1 is operating with a 1947 American LaFrance 700 series 1250 gpm pumper, and Salvage 2 is operating with a 1940 American LaFrance 500 series salvage truck. Engine 1 was relocated to Central Fire Station on Elizabeth St. and Salvage 2 went to Station 5 on Albany St. and Blandina St. until construction was completed in the spring of 1964.
