  • Travelling Vlogs - Episode 4
This year is of course the latest Olympics, which are being held across France (and also Tahiti, which does throw things off a little bit!). With this in mind, me and ‪@GLovesTrains‬ decided to head over for the first few days of the competition, and managed to go and watch a couple of events! The first of what will now be three vlogs and a spotting video from our trip sees us head over to our first stop of Marseille, where we watched one of the Day -1 Women's Football matches.
The city is truly one that shows it once had amazing amounts of life, but does seem to have suffered from some money issues and poverty in more recent years. Certainly still worth a visit regardless, but it really does show in the number of closed down and abandoned shops, and the somewhat derelict buildings in some areas too. It's always a shame to see things like this, and makes you wonder what these cities would look like if more money was just given to them.

    Excellent video Lucy!
Glad you both had a great time in France.
I read somewhere that Greater Anglia have a programme of reconfiguring the Class 745's with additional tables and luggage space for the Stansted service.
    Can't remember the precise details.
Did you notice the metro trains run on rubber tyres. 👍🙂

Well I've now noticed while editing this that the Marseille ones did too, but in one of the Paris vlogs, I do mention that part after I noticed it

Marseille looks like it's good a good variety of transport, even if the tickets look proper complicated haha, shame the airport isn't connected to the metro, seems like a missed opportunity to not extend it but at least it gets buses. Don't think I'd cope with the heat in the south of France mind, it's bad enough in the UK, I'd proper cape if I had to walk up a hill in 27 degrees heat! Really enjoyed this vlog, was proper hooting and hollering at the banter between you and G, especially when you was first in the hotel lol. Btw, fun fact, the first football game I ever attended was a women's olympic football game for the 2012 olympics cause some games were being held in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and me and me Nan were given tickets to see New Zealand vs Brazil and Team GB vs Cameroon when we were just out and about, I did see G's video of the double decker train to Paris (through her early access lol), I think I went on the same type of train when I went to Disneyland Paris back in 2016! Hopefully you and G enjoyed your France trip and saw some good olympic action haha

The heat felt way nicer than UK heat. That hill was the only time it was hard to bare it. The tickets are only confusing because it's all in French tbh.
Also, i should mention that the metro the airport would look very odd on the map, so I can understand it not running there myself m
