I've had the EXACT same problems with Amsterdam reds in general. First I thought it was just one defective product, went back to the art shop to get another... and it was the same disaster. Worse yet, because whenever I pumped, a massive blob of paint would come out and destroy my art... and yet, the nibble was still dry! Absolutely useless, a waste of money.

I would think these should be used over gesso and that would eliminate a lot of the problems. I know people do it, but acrylic has always performed better over a primed substrate.
