      +Desert Mike DIY - you have a Pi3, Mike?
      A Raspberry will never be an ANDROID but this build is as good as it gets and quite workable for any ANDROID based project.
      My intended project suffered a setback though. I learned that the 3.5 LCD screen that came in this week (sweet!) does not have ANDROID support...BIG monkey wrench in that plan!
      I got the screen to work in Raspbian and I may do a video on that in the future as that too has a few twists to it.

    Finally an sd card specification (A1/A2) that actually makes sense for the way I use my arm boards. I've got more arm boards than I can count, mostly Pi2/3/4 running Linux/Kodi. Other arm64 boxes are running as firewall/routers or just code building boxes. For a code building box I throw in a usb flash drive since they're still more robust than the micro-sd for heavy i/o. I've got an nvme in a rk3399 board which makes a super code building box. I just ordered 4 A2 128G Sandisk cards, be interesting to see how they stack up for day to day use.

      +Kelly Anderson - serious stuff!
      I've been into the STM32 boards of late. We're fortunate to live in this age of processing power at low prices.
      I'm not sure how an A2 board would improve the performance of this project and I already had the A1. I would most surely invest in A2 for seamless memory expansion in an ANDROID phone or tablet.
      A2 were hard to find. Still are in WalMart and other stores. I see AMAZON has good offerings these days.
      I appreciate your participation on the channel, Kelly:)

    I am following your video like gospel. You leave out a few clicks and I have to watch your video explicitly. A big thing I just noticed is that you left out the words "plug in the usb device". You never tell us to plug in the USB drive with the google play file. I kept failing. Then I plugged it in and it worked.

      +James Klafehn - I said to put gapps on USB stick. Then, @ 6:58 I tell you to locate the file on the USB stick...I should not have to tell you to put the stick in the Pi3!!!

      @theGADGETSplaylist  4 года назад

      you're welcome!
      It would seem there was something about your USB stick that the Pi didn't like. Doesn't take much sometimes.
      You'll notice that the ANDROID will work faster and smoother after a few boot ups. The Pi3 will never be a true ANDROID but KonstaKang development is as good as it gets.

    hello sir,
    great tutorial, but I have a question about the internet speed, in my case, the internet conection the I tried is in the 2.4 band en the 5G band, the issue is that in both band the max speed that I can get is 24Mbps, so do you know if maybe the software (Android 9) is limitating the wireles card speed on the raspberry? because the specification for the Pi 3b+ the nic card is much faster (2.4GHz and 5GHz IEEE 802.11.b/g/n/ac wireless), I will be atentive to any comments,
    best regards, and have a great day.

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  4 года назад

      I never tested the network speeds of Pi3 either in its native Raspbian or in this ANDROID OS.
      Wasn't my focus. My "plan" was to build an All-in-1 oscilloscope complete with LCD screen. Turns out this OS doesn't have a driver for the 3.5 LCD.
      Sorry I can't be of more help on internet connect speeds, Sebastian.

    Did you ever get this to work with a Hantek scope and Hscope? I have a PI3B and would like to see if my 1008C would work. I also think Pico maybe compatible with the PI.

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  3 года назад

      In the previous video #82 I showed that HScope can run on Pi3 ... but it's not an optimal situation.
      You would be facing 2 challenges, one being the Pi3 doesn't have much performance, the other that Hantek 1008c doesn't have much performance either.
      Together, they wouldn't make for a fun/productive experience...

      Class 10 is not enough in this case.
      The A1 designation is what makes a substantial difference. Those cards are optimized to run apps. They're also the best for memory expansion in ANDROID phones and tablets.

      yes, even though KonstaKang has done the best job I've seen, the fact remains that ANDROID is not native to Raspberry Pi. This is especially true if Play Store (gapps) is required.
      If your app doesn't need Play Services to run and you can sideload the APK then Pi3 will run it quite nicely.
