There is something much deeper, and more special than the sum of this mans practice hours. We can all hear that. He has some kind of drum magic in his head. Simply Beautiful. Maybe an extra lobe in his brain dedicated to his art. Dont know what, but there is something 'above and beyond' in this guy. Simply Beautiful Drumming.
I went to high school with Chris he would drum on his desk during class and played a five piece at prep rally’s I think he was why I wanted to drum back then too I made the joke that I can’t play drums but I can play the hell out of a table 😂 but now I drum so I can play both hahahahaha
Excellent...creativity, blistering speed, and extremely tight... Another thing that stands out to me about Chris: he's a powerful looking guy anyway - and he wields his sticks so easily that I would think they were made of balsa wood (and we know that they're not 7As)...
Fact is, Chris Coleman sounds great on Paiste, DW and Remo. He is one of those players who would probably sound great on whatever cymbals and drums you give him. Maybe he was asked to play Paiste for sound consistency reasons in context of the album? Who knows? That Masters Ride and those Signature crashes (right-hand crash: a 17 inch Signature Fast Crash?) certainly do sound lovely. I think that the sound of Paiste cymbals resonates well within the music of Chris Standring (and I remember that Chris Standring recorded a live album with Jack Pollitt, who also plays Paiste cymbals). So maybe Chris Standring (and his production team) had a word in cymbal and drum choice for this recording ... An other possibility is that Chris Coleman had only limited time available for this project, was not able to travel to the studio with his own drumset and cymbals and just used a kit with cymbals that were available at the studio, in a way to maximize playing time and reduce setup time. The fact that the cymbals look like they've already had some playing, can endorse this point of view. As a matter of fact, I just wanted to bring a few assumptions to the table here ... It would of course be nice if an insider could elaborate on this 🙂.
Probably studio house kit. Some studios require that you keep their distinct sound. Bell sound studios did something similar, had him playing zildjians.

I was wondering the same thing. But as said here, most likely the studio kit.
No more Sonor and Meinl?
Prob just what they had at the studio
