Sir you have balls of steel to hack a gucci bag apart and have the confidence in being able to put it back together again! You should make things from scratch and make bespoke items for the very wealthy. You could name your own price! 👍
@@McSymm_Mcsymm luxury brands arent made in china and while some have lost their allure like Gucci and louis Vuitton to some extent some are still authentic and family owned like maison Goyard which does no advertising nor endorsement
Better than new. Not sure what folk complain about "losing originality". This is bespoke repair, often with better results and finishing than original, to use for years to come. You get repaired things you hold dearly, not trophies.
Andy Santi he did fine, why hate on someone just because of their hobby? Someone may cherish this purse, original? Seriously? Nothing stays original. Old cars, etc. you very young kids don’t know the meaning of taking care of things. Gucci isn’t even that great for their prices. 🤷🏻♀️
What I admire and respect is that you you have a set of tools you use for all your projects whether it is for a high end product or something much less expensive. You don't have specialized "Gucci tools" or "Louis Vuitton tools". You just use the equipment you have, your knowledge, and your experience to provide high level craftsmanship to each project. Truly admirable.
Such a nice man. Steve did a great job with a leather backpack i had sent him. i bought a leather backpack for my son but wanted the back part to be as of leather (instead of a mesh like fabric). steven completly cut open the bag and changed the back part to what i wanted and it looks so nice!!! it trully looks like it was made like this originally! super amazing crafstamnship. i wish he would have filmed the processso you could see what i am talking about, because he made magic :-). such a nice honest and talented man and i reccomend him to anyone who needs leather works. he can do the impossible! rates are fair, time is fair, job done is A+ Quality, and your also supporting a small business! I understand paying for great quality craftsmanship, especially bespoke leather bags, but it baffles my mind the money people spend on those fabric little g's, Gucci or not. For the same price you could get a custom made leather bag handmade in Italy, or even someone like this talented guy in your own city. OK rant over😂 Thank you for another great video!! I think I look forward to your uploads more than anyone on YT. They're so unique and I love seeing people who love what they do and who's pride in their craft makes them pay attention to details.
People are free to make choices, I Never implied they are not, I SIMPLY stated, that I do not understand the appeal of this specfic type fabrication, regardless of the maker, especially when for the same price you can get far superior quality material. My opinion, the same way they have their opinions when buying it. It's really not that deep. I'm sure many people would scratch their heads over some of my purchase choices as well. Just a curious mind. Also I understand restoring something of sentimental value, but my curiosity was directed to the original purchaser, not the why of restoration. At the end of the day it's just a handbag, and I'm just a curious person. No offense meant to anyone.
kbbels You make a great point. Many moons ago, I'm dating myself by saying this, I was in Martinique & met someone from England with Gucci luggage. Had never seen any in person. Always remembered the Alan King routine about his wife making them get it & what happens to it when they fly. I was very impressed until he told me this was nothing, I should have seen the Italian leather luggage his wife got in the divorce!
Holy crap that is amazing. Awesome work! I have 3 Gucci bag with fraying, and this video is beyond my expectations. I know your customer was very happy. Very nice craftsmanship.
The same people complaining about originality wouldn't think twice about replacing the fender on their car if it got a ding in it. The bag looks fantastic!
My wife has a beloved wallet that lately had been out of service because it's falling apart. I have to find it and send it to you to restore it :) I just watched two of your videos and thinking about all favorite bags, wallets or shoes that were lost because nobody can restore it. Thank you for keeping the tradition and craft going.
replacing the fabric on both sides was the correct thing to do as far as I can tell. I sew and make purses and bags and digitize and do embroidery. you are absolutely right about this customer will love this bag. for 600 bucks they will have their friend back over their arm. I see so many women sewing and not charging what their work, skill and time is worth. I tell them to charge more for their time. I have told them to come see your videos. no I don't sew the leather like that that move on to people like you. fantastic work. I love doing the out of the ordinary jobs. I get people bringing me instruments and want me to make a bag or tools they want into a kit that rolls up with handles and unrolls with all the tools in a nice pouch. there is all kinds of sewing. I started sewing 8 years ago when I became disabled and was told no more driving and no more power tools. so I moved to smaller power tools sewing machines and taught myself how to sew. wonderful video
Amazing work like always!!! There’s a gal on Etsy that up-cycles the hi-end materials like coach, Gucci and LV into Apple Watch bands. Just a little idea for those scraps 😀
For your camera: you should get a machinist's magnet block (cheap on eBay) and an articulated arm (also, cheap on eBay). With those, you could say attach the camera on the machine itself out of the way. Most magnet blocks have a V cut in them so they can attach to pipes or round surfaces. Awesome repair, once again, the quality of your craftsmanship is astounding.
When people say these bags are made of junk, they’ve obviously never owned one and clearly don’t understand the concept of things being easier to take a part or destroy than to build. Always outstanding work. I’d love to see you do work on an Hermès Kelly or Birkin.
I like the longer videos, not complaining...around 9-9:30pm, I usually turn the TV on and then to youtube app and look for recent uploads to the channels I subscribe to, I like the 50 minute videos, it's like watching a movie lol, there's nothing on tv worth watching except History or Velocity channels but, nothing but repeats. Anyways, enjoyed the video!
as usual, a fabulous job! thank you for adressing the "originality" subject. I think that when people don't know luxury products very well it may seem unreal for a customer to want to be able to use their items. Can't wait for another video. Oh btw that trimmer line trick is genius!
Your a tribute to your fathers training. He lives in everything you touch! I watch your videos to inspire me in what I do. All the best to you, Steve. TomZ

I never get tired of watching your work! You might consider starting a merch line of T shirts with the name and company logo and “ Alright let’s get started “ across the front. I would love one. Beautiful work Steve.
Absolutely fascinating to watch as always. I also was getting rather irked by the commenters claiming that the reason it comes apart so easily is because its poor quality on all the designer items. Most of the designer items you have come through the shop are clearly of respectable quality and manufacture. Now, whether or not they are priced competitively to equivalent goods or worth the high prices they demand is a different matter.
whether it's a bag or a toy or a pair of shoes, they should be used for what they were designed for. Putting things on a shelf and not using them as intended is stupid. Sure, maybe they retain more value, but what value is it really if it isn't used how it should be? It may be worth more money, but if that's all you want, there are other things to put you money in.
WAIT, You WHAT???? 😳Many years ago, I had a beautiful Gucci Hobo bag like this one, and it got very soiled in a short space of time, so I decided to wash it at home. (BAD DECISION!!) I submerged it in cold water - but the dye from the lining RAN all through the canvas, turning my beautiful bag into a tie dyed mess. It literally TURNED dark BROWN in the water, I completely ruined it. I was so upset bcos it was a 30th b'day gift from my Husband. I was devastated. How on earth did you wash the canvas, without the dye running? I know this is a 5 year old YT vid, but I had to ask. I've been enjoying watching your older vids, and felt compelled to tell you what happened to my bag.. 😂😂
Greeting from Croatia, Europe... Nice job Steve... You are 100% right, this bag is going to be addored 4 many years to come, And that is most important... 🖖
Gorgeous! I was thinking you were going to replace both panels because when you held up the new piece there seemed to be too much of a color difference. Something ive been wondering about the spacing on the stitching... Do you control that manually as you push/pull the piece through the machine or can you adjust the spacing on the machine itself in order to get the thread in thee existing holes?
I watched an earlier video where he had to make sure the stitches were in the same holes. He said he could adjust the the stitch length on the machine to match.
Great job as usual Steve. I look forward to you uploading a new project. I just wondered, have you a preference on the type of repairs you do? And also have you ever told anyone the item they want repairing just isn't worth it? Regards Rowena.
I completely agree with you. At one point in time you love the purse so much, that you will be willing to pay a pretty penny to restore it & use it again. I do not have a name brand purse, but I love mine so much I bought 3. That should last me a while. I probably go through one purse a year. I like that I can use it with anything, at anytime and in any occasion. So, if time passes and I cannot find this purse again. Well....chances are I will be paying someone to restore my purse and perhaps I might be paying more then what I actually purchased it for. But at that point I don't care. I love your videos, thank you for sharing them.
Excellent with vintage bags that get repaired back to new I am more happy that I can use my LV bags again. I am not caring about the value I am just loving my old bag is new again. I am thinking that most collectors of vintage luxury bags feel the same. Thanks for sharing your excellent work so impressive to watch.
👜I love your work! 👛 My pink LV Alma bag D ring handle broke. I took it to a cobbler whom said they could repair it. When I picked it up. The D ring was working; however, the stitching & leather repair was subpar & looked VERY butchered. I haven't used it since. 👜 😣
Hi Steve. If my question is redundant, please forgive me. What weight or mm thread was used on this project (the top stitching on brown leather area)? Waxed? Nylon? Linen? Brand? Thx. Love your vids!
Please note how the master shakes hands - this is the result of toxic vapors of glue. I recommend the analysis of blood, urine! Are there other adhesives? I do not know - recommend!
I was wondering if you can fix a Gucci tote bag that has been worn out in the bottom corners? It is a Gucci monogram medium jolicoeur tote to be more specific
Thank you for your upload; know you are a busy man. I learn little things every time I watch one of your videos: sewing the leather "corners" together BEFORE you sew the whole seam on the bag.
Seems like if you have the fabric and leather and the knowledge you could make a bag from scratch. Do you ever make things like bags or stick to repairs? You could make your own bag probably better than a Gucci for example. Just wondering....
I’m dying to know......have you even been asked to restore a designer bag or shoes at great expense then when youve deconstructed it, you know (because of how badly its made) that it is a fake? If so, did you ever tell the customer?
Miss toots I turned down an LV this week for a major restoration because it was not real. I have to tell the customer then it’s up to them what they want to do.👍👍
I could be wrong but From what I can make out from the vid, this bag may have not been authentic to begin with (the font quality) according to this source. bagaholic101.com/ultimate-guide-on-how-to-tell-if-a-gucci-bag-is-real-or-fake-the-gucci-material/
Buy you an ECHO or Shindaiwa trimmer with a "Speed Feed" head on it and you wont have to worry about re-spooling the line every time it breaks or you run out. Its insane how convenient it is and it's the envy of lawncare business. Just trying to be helpful. 👍
This to me is absolutely amazing Steve...! You are an artisan...! $590 is very reasonable considering what a Gucci bag costs and all the work you put in...! Very few people could do this, if any and have the bag come out looking like this...!

Hey Steve
How do you control the speed on your sewing machines? I mean, when you go slow, that’s gotta be controlled by a foot pedal?
I have that same exact bag & I need a good cleaning & patch work.
It is astonishing to me how you get the end product so accurate. Great video

Please note how the master shakes hands - this is the result of toxic vapors of glue. I recommend the analysis of blood, urine! Are there other adhesives? I do not know - recommend!
Izidor 111 well thank you for your concern but I’ve been shaking since I was 10 and I wasn’t sniffing glue back then. 👍👍❤️❤️
One great job again ,thx for sharing ❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent workmanship.
New subscriber and addicted to your vids. You make it look so easy yet I know it’s not. Am I the only one that finds these videos relaxing to watch?

Thank you for your upload; know you are a busy man. I learn little things every time I watch one of your videos: sewing the leather "corners" together BEFORE you sew the whole seam on the bag.
smartoldlady basting which is what he did is quite useful in all types of sewing.
Seems like if you have the fabric and leather and the knowledge you could make a bag from scratch. Do you ever make things like bags or stick to repairs? You could make your own bag probably better than a Gucci for example. Just wondering....
yea good staff men your good job🤙🤙🤙
I’m dying to know......have you even been asked to restore a designer bag or shoes at great expense then when youve deconstructed it, you know (because of how badly its made) that it is a fake? If so, did you ever tell the customer?
Miss toots I turned down an LV this week for a major restoration because it was not real. I have to tell the customer then it’s up to them what they want to do.👍👍
Bedo's Leatherworks LLC so did she know it was a fake? Had she paid full price originally thinking it was real?
Miss toots I don’t think she knew, it was handed down and she had it for years.
I could be wrong but From what I can make out from the vid, this bag may have not been authentic to begin with (the font quality) according to this source. bagaholic101.com/ultimate-guide-on-how-to-tell-if-a-gucci-bag-is-real-or-fake-the-gucci-material/
lester lm your right about being wrong, I don’t work on fake bags.👍👍
Worlds most expensive Yfronts.
You do such awesome work! I have a vintage Gucci that I bought in 1983 that needs to be refurbished. It’s been sitting in my closet for about 30 yrs!

Greetings to you and Zeus!
