- We visit LOWER SLAUGHTER, The Cotswolds UK, Voted the most beautiful village in England. Lower Slaughter in Gloucestershire sits in The Slaughters deep in the heart of The Cotswolds in England and we take a walk around the village to see what's here.
Lower Slaughter is a small village on the River Eye, close to Upper Slaughter and between Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold in The Cotswolds, one of the most popular travel and tourism destinations in Britain.
The main tourist attractions in Lower Slaughter are the walk along the river, the Old Mill and Lower Slaughter museum and the St Mary's Church on Copsehill Road.
You can stay in Lower Slaughter if you're on a trip to the Cotswolds, either at The Slaughters Country Inn or maybe even the Slaughters Manor House Hotel.
There are other smaller places to stay if you wanted a holiday cottage, such as Thimble Cottage and Rose Tree Cottage on Malthouse Lane.
As we pass through the village we also see The Slaughters Village Hall on Becky Hill overlooking the River Eye and across at the village of Lower Slaughter.

Let me know where else you’d like me to film 👍👍
Lake District, Cumbria 😁
Findochty Scotland
If you ever go to the Isle of Wight, you'll be spoilt for choice. We went years ago, we went all over. We visited Osborne House and a little village nearby called Whippingham where Queen Victoria worshipped.
Love the video, Lower Slaughter is my favourite Cotswold village, I try and visit every year, thank you so much.
Spent the first two nights of our honeymoon at The Manor House Hotel. Lower Slaughter always brings back such happy memories.
Ah lovely! what a great (and exclusive!) place!

Great isn't it - nice and quiet!

Wow what a peaceful beautiful Village
So nice
Lovely village quiet and beautiful place
So nice
Hi just come across your channel. I'm visiting lower slaughter and staying for a week this September 2022 can't wait I think I made a very good choice this year judging on your video it's a beautiful tranquil village. It's close to other villages like Bibury, stow on the wolds, Boughton on the water so lots of things to do and places to visit that are busier but then you get to come back to this peaceful place after a long day sight seeing ah bliss. I'll be sampling the slaughters inn for a nice meal and if course having an afternoon tea Sat in the gardens 😁 I'm so excited to visit this beautiful village . Very well filmed and nice gentle music adds to the ambiance of the video well done . 👍👏👏
Thank you so much. It's such a lovely place to visit.
I thought I'd do a separate one on each slaughter (upper and lower) as they seem to get lumped in together but each have their own beauty
Gorgeous place.
Definitely
It has brought back memories of my time there with my husband. Is such a beautiful place with its honey coloured Cotswold stone buildings and shallow meandering rivers.
Thanks for uploading! 👍
You're welcome - I'm loving this Cotswolds series- - more on the way this week too
So lovely! such beautiful houses and scenery, i've not been to this village in the Cotwolds but its now on my list.
Lovely isn't it

Glad you enjoyed it!
I was so happy to see that this was todays video, I was there 3 weeks ago and thought I was in heaven 🤗 ..you’ve done a lovely video and it felt like I was there again. The ice cream was yummy as well at the shop by the mill 😋😋. I did manage to see some fish that day we were told they were brown trout. .I can’t wait to see were you are next. Thanks again for a great video.
You’re welcome Rita
thank you so much for watching and for all your support and kind words
Thank you so much for this video, when my sons were children we used to camp in this area and visited lower slaughter often as it’s one of our favourite places. ❤️ My sons loved paddling in the water and once found a crayfish in there.. happy memories.
Ah lovely!
That's exactly why I do these videos!
Happy holiday memories. Visiting with my Mum and Dad. S such a beautiful place.Thank for taking us to all these lovely place. We so enjoy watching them Janet and Mikexx
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that
You have just filmed my house! The village may look quiet and peaceful, however, in the Summer, it is packed to the rafters with day trippers and at Christmas, it is like Euston. It's lovely, but quiet is not the way that I would describe it.
Oh my! I wasn’t aware of that!
Question for you - is having people being nosey around your homes ok for people in the village and part and parcel of having a beautiful home there or is it just annoying? 😀
A very beautiful village. Have to say though seeing the sign about private water made me want to go for a paddle in the water and tell them I identify as a horse if anyone challenged me 😂🤣😂, I guess thats me being stubborn as a mule 😂🤣😂
Ha ha yes that sign rankled with me 🤣🤣
Beautiful enjoyed it when I spent half the day there a few years back
I can imagine - lovely part of the world and so peaceful!
A lovely village. From my own experience I can confirm that 'gently does it' more or less sums up the pace of life in The Cotswolds but then unless you need to why would you want to rush when you are in beautiful surroundings. A lovely video again and please take as much time as you want on any of your walks, it gives us viewers time to absorb some detail and atmosphere of the places you visit.
Thank you John - I will try and keep it calm and steady on my walks for you
Upper Slaughter, the neighbouring village, in spite of its name is one of a handful if Doubky Blassed or Thankful villages as it lost not a man who went off to fight in either World War.
Ah interesting! I've filmed it - should be on the channel next week
Upper slaughter has a lovely little pub and single village shop a church all within spitting distance it’s like going back in time.
Ah I missed those! Will have to go back!
Hey mate wow wow never heard of this place think I need too go too it .. great walk and vlog beautiful place stay safe hope your keeping well ....... Any chañce you can vlog grassington please cheers 💯💯😊
Oh yes - I'm definitely going back to Grassington
I've done one already - it's on my channel - but fell in love with the place when I went. It's soooooo lovely!
Very beautiful and peaceful!! Can deffo see why it's a favorite. I have a suggestion. Lake District in Cumbria?
Great suggestion!
I've been meaning to head up that way for a long time - watch this space!
There’s a lovely church just around the corner
I think I filmed it -it's on the way next week
5:20 *That shot features in the intro to "Escape to the Country" [BBC TV] !*
Ah will check that out!
I thought it was lovely!! Does that river which runs through the town ever flood?
That’s my question too - I bet it does for time to time
Country side! The smell of bread!
And the sound of ducks quacking!
@@GimbalWalkTV Indeed
Slaughter Manor House?
How do you mean Linda
A great walk around you say it’s lovely and quiet there but I bet the youngsters say there’s nothing for them to do
Possibly - I spoke to a couple of them and they seemed very down to earth lads. Very polite too!
Same comment as ystdy
👍🏻
Hahaha - what an unpleasant town name in today's definition! I know it means 'marsh' or something of the sort, however given our modern definition I'd be scared to visit.
i live in Oxfordshire so the cotswolds are very close for me ive walked upper and lower slaughter lovley place but way over priced to live there !
When I went I daren't look at the prices of homes there - going to do it now though and give myself a heart attack ha ha!
