Im 67, and i see people on here acting like experts and either giving out bad or obsolete info. Theres things they act like they thought of that me and my buds used 30 to 50+ yeats ago. This man here is straight-up. I was exempted from service but raised in a military family. I was taught all the older training, by my father and uncle (ww2), and newer training and tips from my cousin (Green Beret.) Yep. I fully agree on this fella. Straight to the point and always good info. Some i already knew, but he gives great tips and tricks that may matter a lot on what happens to you . Stay safe. Good travels.
Your channel is easily one of the best of its kind on RUclips. Great info and SUPER concise. Other youtubers would have taken over an hour to accomplish what you did in 8 minutes. You should teach classes into making youtube videos. The collective value of RUclips would go up by a factor of 100,000 if other youtubers could be as concise as you.
It's an Aviation Sparklite carried in military survival kits, i think comes in a case with tinder. I have never been able to find one but there are brass equivalents on e bay sometimes, and also you can use a depleted Butane light like a BIC. I am in UK and use the latter two items. Unfortunately we do not get them issued in UK.
The more of these I watch the more I thank God for my old Scout survival instructors- Vietnam, Korea, and WW2 vets all- and it's remarkable how much they taught that apparently Ranger training uses. You've even taught this old Eagle a thing or two, and for that I'm grateful.
Damn good shit! I prefer to keep one larger hank. On the tag end I tie to my saw and chuck it over the branch I want to cut. I put a loop along the hank to larkshead onto the other end of my saw, and long enough so I'm not sawing underneath the branch. Limb falls, I'm not hurt, have material for structure and still one long hank of cord. P.S. don't cut limbs with bee hives. They'll swarm and attack, even if you just began cutting and didn't notice the hive. I already use my spoon. As I was watching I thought, "It's gonna get hot!" But then I saw you using a cloth... Peuw! A splash of water helps too. Awesome video Andrew. Thanks for the knowledge... You're an absolute 'encyclopaedia'!!! "You LEGEND". Cheers!
Multiple spoons can be used as insulators combined with wire and sticks to prevent the wires from touching, when making certain field expedient antennas, and confine the flow of the current to project the strongest possible signal.
Good stuff. I thought it was interesting that you extended your "reach" on the saw to allow yourself to remain in cover and concealed from view. The "leaf trick" was brilliant. Sometimes older tricks can be applied in new ways thus application makes them new again.
Things like those are why i consider joining. (I'm not from or living in America) Though the west really is questionable at best at this time. (in terms of politics and politicians.)
Thank you for your work as a teacher and your service as a soldier. This video is great. Please show us how to build a hidden, well-warming g shelter in a urban dangerous environment in extreme winter and what kind of lightweight equipment you need that fits in your backpack. God bless you.
I like these videos. I also scratch the parafin block used for fire starting when we braai. Then it will ignite quick and immediately. Wheter you use ferro rod, match, lighter normal or the fancy plasma one.. you are gona have flames on parafin block.
Hello from romulus Michigan brother thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise and for taking us on your adventures through the woods and thank you again and GOD-BLESS
I have been watching a TV show called "Alone". Where they have people go into the Canadian arctic for 60 day with just 10 things. If you last the 60 days you get $400,000. I REALY think you should do it. You would do great. I really think you should look into it. I would Love to watch you just smoke it on there!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your great informative videos. They really help in my day to day life. THANK YOU.
Splitting a match is an oldie but goodie. If splitting a wooden match, it is best to start at the head of the match. The finer and sharper the blade the better. Starting at the tail risks "blowing" the striker head off the wood as it splits.
A “like” as always. Question: do you think that the military MRE manufacturers actually intended for the spoon to be multi functional or was it an accidental byproduct? It seems sturdier than the run of the mill fast food plastic spoon which I am sure was intentional. All of your tips and tricks are highly valuable. As an aside, I attended an air show last weekend and some of your 75th Ranger Regiment boys from Benning (Moore) reenacted the D-Day invasion by jumping out of 2 C-47s in period correct paint schemes. Very impressive. You Airborne fellas have all the fun.
Hello Andrew… if I could only watch one video channel, this is without a doubt the ONE I would and will be watching. Great content and presentation!! Always looking forward to your next video Andrew… keep them coming!
Great content as always. One of these tips has me very curious which is using the MRE spoon for a make shift antenna. Anyway you show how that works???
Andrew, you my friend, are one force to be reckoned with. I have learned so much from you and Shawn Kelly that made this old fart get back out and active again preparing for this world. I hope he reaches out to you to assist in his new classes because it would be one that I would love to attend. Keep up the great work and content.
You're good brother! I hope folks appreciate all the hard earned work you have learned and so kindly pass it on! Keep up the good work and as always, keep walking with our KING!!
I love this channel. Not because I’m ever going to this stuff, but more because it’s a reminder to bring what you need so you might not have to. Nice vid.
Well being a bushcraft guy this sounds a bit ridiculous in the sense that having people who tracks you in the woods and having "coms" and intels while camping about anything else than a ranger on youtube who does crazy stuff on your smartphone seems very unlikely, but anyway i respect the drills they are pretty fun i already used some of them some of them are new, but aren't you taking risks by revealing methods of your army ?
Sir, the Esbit fuel stove is a prized, compact, light, reliable source of heat for a quick, hot drink or soup, & ideal for having a confined flame in fire-prone environments. It is always with me. The compactness & resilience of the chain/commando saw recommend it over other tools. It should be extra useful with two sawyers teaming up, one from each end. My Florence Nightingale life-saver😇 is literally a strong asset for me again here. Thinking of a force multiplier, an edible map COULD be handier than even a dry leaf. Just an idea. I am looking for you to produce a homing, drone-seeking shotgun slug with an effective range of 300 vertical meters or more to mitigate bursts from heavy explosive drone payloads.
I love your videos. And your vouce but very loud in the mic. Hun...can you please do a video on types of knots. Don't go so fast. Tell us what type of knots etc. You mention knots all the time. Not all of us have your training and we don't know what your talking about. I love your back pack idea but have no clue what you did to make upper part if straps. I wish there were courses on this stuff. I wanted to be a boy scout when little! No girls allowed. Any tricks on creating a hammock yiu can put a air mattress in to sleep flat? They make them niw but there 600.00! For a hammock! Love ya hun. Keep up the vudeos
I$ you light your emergency candles before putting in your kit, and put them out of course, the charred wick acts as charcloth and is much easier to ignite. Can even get it with a ferro rod most of the time...thanks for all you do Andrew!
You should checkout the reproduction WW II German spork. It folds small but opens to a good size. I have carried one for two years and don’t worry about plasticware anymore.
Never tried it, but a special forces friend used candle wax to make a temporary tooth filling when he lost a filling while in the field. I suppose beeswax could also work.
Man dude you're awesome I've been watching these videos. I tried some of these techniques that I feel were useful to me, I can confidently say it has made a lot of difference. So thank you dude.
The match trick is a good one - old mate told me when he was in prison they used to split wooden matches down the middle with a razor blade. This gave 2 lights off the one match & when things are limited - you need to make things go further.

My father used to put a potato or onion in corner of bags & tie off to carry, he said you might have to eat them.
The more I watch you’re channel the more I’m convinced you’re one of the very few on RUclips that actually know what you’re talking about, cheers 🤙
2/3 ain't bad.

Excellent! Thank you Andrew!
Very cool.👍

They are hard to come by. I think I may have it listed on my Amazon store only because 5Col carries them for a minute.
It never ceases to amaze me how much you know!
Hi Andrew, greeting from Australia 🇦🇺, thank you for your time to make these videos.
“It is mandatory, once per year, preferably…” had me rolling. Great video!
Or if you ever set foot in Kuwait.
YESSIR! You didn't cut the legs this time for carrying water. So you can save and reuse the pants.
The more of these I watch the more I thank God for my old Scout survival instructors- Vietnam, Korea, and WW2 vets all- and it's remarkable how much they taught that apparently Ranger training uses. You've even taught this old Eagle a thing or two, and for that I'm grateful.
Thank God for this dude amen!!!
Writing on a dried leaf? You always teach me something even if it’s learning redundancy. Take care Sir
I made the mistake of throwing my MRE spoon away ONCE and that will be the last time I make that mistake!
I never thought about using the wet weather bottoms like that. Great idea
That was The Best 8 minutes of Sunday on youtube! Many Thanks Andrew for keeping us on the best side of survival,Cheers!
I like the bit about hiding fresh cut trees. Hadn't thought of that. 👍

Down here in the Appalachian hills of NC, your lessons are being put to use. Lead the way 🇺🇲🦅
Same here in Appalachia WV
Great video, highly creative & useful material. I will never look at an MRE spoon the same way again. Your channel remains at the top.
Great proven methods and simple to remember. Thank you!
Much appreciated, Brother. Bless you.
I gotta try the spoon firestarter hack.
Works with a plastic tent peg too!
Something that we were not issued was 2 piece rain gear. Always carried 2 ponchos though. Great video
🎉You are the best...!!🎉 thank you..!
🌟10 stars, That was a great start to a video. I thought about the old days when my grandfather was chewing "RED MAN" chewing tobacco..
Damn good shit!

"You LEGEND".
Cheers!
Great video 👍 ,but now I curious, ,How do you turn an MRE spoon into an antenna??
That sounds like a cool MacGyver trick
Multiple spoons can be used as insulators combined with wire and sticks to prevent the wires from touching, when making certain field expedient antennas, and confine the flow of the current to project the strongest possible signal.

Great content Andrew, there's some good stuff there. Especially the makeshift backpack, the trouser bladder and how to concealed the stump.
Really enjoy your content., brings back memories of old, while I learn new techniques too!

The spoon was probably just a happy coincidence. It’s a polymer so that means cheap plastic which makes sense = military.
ALWAYS EDUCATIONAL & INFORMATIVE, ANDREW!

Outstanding info, sir....... Thanks for another great video.
Priceless. Thank you! God bless :)
Great content as always. One of these tips has me very curious which is using the MRE spoon for a make shift antenna. Anyway you show how that works???
The spoon is used as an insulator to confine the current in the strongest way with wire and sticks and Paracord to create a field expedient antenna.
I sent you a message, but it says the recipient information does not exist! Do you know what's going on?
Not sure. Hit me up in instagram
Great stuff always a learning thanks for sharing
The Sergeant told us it was Officially called "The MRE Combat Spoon", because a Ranger had used one to kill a guy -- so it gets a Combat designation.😁
Never to dissapoint. Another great video. Thank you.
